Welcome @Its_time, glad you decided to join us.  Are you going to join a group or just using the thread to keep you accountable?  We have people who do it both ways; think may even be a couple who do online although people who have used online don't seem to think it works very well.

We're going to visit DH's sister later; not looking forward to it as she has dementia; his brother in law also has it was his is much worse so is in a nursing home - it doesn't sound like he'll last much longer as apparently he's deteriorating very quickly.

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up - HM bacon; HM sausage patty, eggs, mushrooms, beans - P; S; F
L - not sure but probably Welsh rarebit or a sandwich of some sort
    D - roast beef, roast potatoes, roasted veg, green veg - P; S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese?
    HEB - bread?

    Syns - none planned

    Have a good day everyone.

  • I'm back on plan but getting myself in a tizz thinking about my weeks meal plans.   My boyfriend is a lorry driver and away all week. He needs to lose a lot of weight and usually does very restrictive calorie counting for a few days then dramatically falls off the wagon, and comes back at the weekend wanting lots of takeaways etc which is hard to fit in with SW so I was really pleased when he said he'll give eating SW way a go. Trouble is I'm trying to make next week super exciting to keep him on board rather than my usual planning. Maybe I should just do what I usually do. It's starting to hurt my head lol.

    Morning all

Mrs R love the pinks in the dress and your shoes, but sadly i cannot wear shoes like that :(

    Welcome its time and greyrock.

Greyrock, make him syn free scotch eggs, crustless quiche, boil eggs, soup, take something warm like curry or stew in a food flask i made a pork /bacon and egg loaf , that's nice cold. Is he out all week or daily? There is a man on one of the fb pages and he is a lorry driver and out all week, is it called a tramper?  and got to target he cooked up all sorts of things .

EDIT, Sorry see you said he is away all week, does he have a little cooker?

  • He's away all week.

My plan is to make some hearty soups for lunches and portion them out for both of us. And make a shepherd's pie (2 portions each) and chicken veg casserole (2 portions each). He has a fridge and microwave and George Foreman grill so quite well equipped. Just wanted to help him out this week while he gets his head round it all. It helps me if my dinner is premade and frozen as I'll be back to school and tired when I get home.

Hopefully future weeks we can split the food prep over the weekend (he's a good cook but needs to learn to do it without fatty meats and added butter!!).

This is a shorter working week so a bit easier.

Scotch eggs are a good idea. I'll save them for next week though and maybe make those in the week one day.

    Xx

Welcome @Its_time. 2 stone by July is very achievable. I averaged 1.5lbs a week getting to target and that was with some time off for occasional holidays (remember them??😉).

Great dress @MrsRyan. Glad you enjoyed your New Year break. 😊

Very difficult visiting @joedenise. I remember when my late SIL had a stroke. Visiting her was so hard but glad we did.

Decorations are down.😁 DH decided he was fed up with them. I think it's because he wanted to do some cleaning as he finds it cathartic. They're all put away and he's hoovered everywhere. I've left the wreath on the front door as a gesture until Thursday.

I'd say that batch cooking is definitely the way forward @GreyRock72 . That way you've got something easy in the freezer which saves time and can take away the temptation to phone for a take away. Although @bubbs has been having Chinese at weekends and there are some fairly low syn options. Although we're not veggie, I do like a veggie chilli and it's versatile as I have it with a jacket potato for a quick lunch or with rice (and often chips as well😁) for a main meal. I use the Hairy Bikers chilli con carne recipe but substitute the meat for 2 extra tins of various beans. It's just as good with meat but cheaper. I still use beef stock and a red wine stock cube instead of the real stuff. I'd rather save that for drinking! 🤣

If you let us know what sort of meals you and your DH enjoy them perhaps we can make some suggestions. I'm not surprised your DH gives up quickly with calorie counting. The glory of SW is that it's not a diet. It's a way of eating plenty of food but healthy food. I use my slow cooker for batch cooking as it means i don't have to watch things on the hob.

We're having lamb today as a bit of a Last Hurrah as it's probably the highest syn meat we eat. I like a half shoulder and I'll stuff it with LM sausages. Tomorrow I'm going back on plan properly so will be having low syn or syn free days to try to undo some of the Christmas excesses.

    Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, red berries (S), banana (F)
L- JP (F), cottage cheese, chicken (P), salad and pickles (S)
D- roast lamb (P), SW roast potatoes, LM stuffing (F), many vegetables (S)
Syns- chilli chicken 1.5, HM gravy 4, weekend wine😁

    Tod

  • Thanks Tod.

He's woken up this morning saying he wants to do calorie counting in the week and eat what I do at the weekend. I'm not sure it's the way forward but it's his choice. I know it's a lot to take in without going to group so can see where it's coming from, but hopefully it'll mean it'll make things easier at weekends when he's home.  He's got to do what he's comfortable with I suppose. We don't live together yet so it'll free me up to just focus on my own eating midweek.  And I checked my freezer before going shopping and there were 2 SW chilli's and 2 SW casseroles already in there so I had a nice cheap shop thus week - Yay!!!

    😊
