Thanks for the mayo information. I don't suppose the Hellmann's tastes much different from the Sainsburys but the squeezy bottle is really annoying. I've taken to banging it on the floor to get it to work. 🤣

I'm another that doesn't syn the potato. I don't weigh it either but the cheap Tesco one that I use comes in packs of IIRC 125g which is about double the recipe. I make it up in a jar and just use what I need each time.

Enjoy your chips @Its_time. I use one of those mesh trays on a metal rack for mine. I love chips. Egg and chips is one of my favourite meals. Of course I add mushrooms and tomatoes to make it SW friendly. 😋

    I am plodding on.
Probably on plan most of the time but not eating enough speed nor drinking enough.

@Its_time - that's why most of us do SW as we can eat virtually anything and don't have to skimp on portions, apart from the very high calorie stuff like fried foods, alcohol & sweets.  If you give us an idea of what you like to eat I'm sure we can come up with SW friendly ways of making them.

It might help you if you were to post your menu plans and we can see what sort of things you like to eat and how they can be made in the SW way.

Ok thank you, i would really appreciate some meal ideas.  So I like chips with most things,  burgers in buns, sandwiches,  enchiladas,  toast, mash potato, cornbeef pies.
I only like salad and veg as a side dish, I love mushrooms, i like eggs, I like soups.  I love milky coffee.  I love malted milk biscuits, jaffa cakes and maltesers.
    I can't have sweetener.
    Am I a lost cause? 🙈

🤣 No, probably explained it badly. I just make up a jar of the dry mix and spoon out 6 or 7 tbsps each time I need it. Then dip in egg and coat it as usual. It just saves me making it each t.

@Its_time - of course not!  You know you can have SW chips (you can even buy Syn Free ones from Iceland!); You can make your own burgers using 5% fat beef mince; you can use any 60g wholemeal roll as a burger bun (I use the flour dusted split rolls from Asda), if you don't have HEB available you could have the burger between portobello mushrooms!; there are a couple of 800g wholemeal loaves you can have to make proper sandwich!  Morrisons own brand medium sliced loaf or Nevilles wholemeal from Tesco.

Weighwatchers wraps are HEB so could use those to make enchiladas; toast just use any HEB bread.  Mashed potatoes you can just boil your potatoes and mash with a little stock or as I do use an egg or two!.  Cprmed beef pie is a bit more difficult as can't be made Syn Free unfortunately but you can use lean corned beef which is 2.5 syns per 100g and top with filo pastry which is 4 syns per 25g.

Just use salad and veg as you currently do.  Same with mushrooms and eggs.  Soups tend to be a very good SW food as they use loads of veg and some stock, if you want a creamy soup you can stir through a bit of fat free natural yoghurt once the soup has been taken off the heat (it'll curdle if it's too hot!).

Milky coffee use one of your HEAs; malted milk biscuits are 2 syns each; Jaffa cakes are a bit higher at 2.5 syns and Maltesers are 6.5 syns per 25 but you get quite a few for that!

Don't worry about not being able to have sweetener just use some sugar, just not too much as it is 1 syn per tsp.

So as you can see everything you like/love are all doable within the plan - just not on the same day, LOL!

Definitely not a lost cause @Its_time. First, you need to separate your list into what is meals and what is treats. You can use your syns for treats. Many of us like to save them for weekends, others have a small treat every day.

You can have burgers, chips, soups, mashed potato, eggs done any way you like. If you make them yourself then you can make them syn free but if you buy them ready made the syns vary depending on the brand. I make corned beef hash but pies would have syns in the pastry (although @bubbs makes pies with wraps).

You could have your toast or burger bun (mostly wholemeal) using your HEB. Just one bun or slice of toast each day unless you want to use syns (about 6 syns for a slice).

With your meals, you need to have a third of a plate of veg or fruit afterwards. Salad is fine and mushrooms.

For my dinner tonight, I had chicken, chips, garlic mushrooms in cheese sauce, baked tomatoes and some asparagus. Lush. 😋

I decided to do that with the half pack I had left so have got enough for another lot of chicken.  Have now added instant mash to my shopping list for next time I go to Tesco - I use their really cheap one!

Going to see DD2 this morning before going over to my sisters so meals are a bit of an unknown but shouldn't be too Synful although there will be plenty of wine tonight as we are staying over:

    B - fry up - bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans - P; S; F
    L - sandwich of some sort - hopefully HEB; F; 3.5
D - roast of some sort - mostly OK but probably a few for oil (although my sister doesn't use a lot fortunately)

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread?
    Syns - butter 3.5; oil 2; wine ?

Will have to rein back any extra syns before Wednesday WI!

    Have a good day everyone.
