    Hi all,
just popping in with an update of not much. There have been small monies Tillied into the account that I use. I am in the process of making more little pots in my NWide app for savings to be used in there and had opened 1 the other month baring in mind it only pays .5% and had sent me a message to say I needed to put in more money before 2nd Sept or they would close it!! A bit rude if you ask me, they are not a bank in real terms so not sure if they like you to have lots of pots. To tidy up my brain a bit that is my intention to budget for my bills and have it mostly in 1 place. We'll see how it goes.

Yes! That is a bit rude!! I wonder why they would want to close it though?

With Lloyds, I have sveral accounts, mostly with zero and long-term zero balances! I;ve made the mistake of switching to First Direct for the £150 incentive and they have closed my current account with Lloyds. I don't like change and it has taken me most of the morning trying to log into FD app. I am not happy, but I suspect mostly because I didn't really want to leave Lloyds. I still have my empty savings accounts and I have just added my FD account to my Open Banking on Lloyds  :D But now, I've read your post, I think I'm going to think about little pots. The one I do use is my Stop Being a Prat account, and although Ive done bits and pieces of Tillying before, I think I need to try harder. This debt is not going to pay itself off afterall!!

Just discovering all these challenges and they are brilliant idea. Like you, I also have loads of savings pots attached to my N/Wide account. Trouble is the money seems to go into one pot and then out again when I need to spend it...lol. Trying hard though to keep the savings up but its getting harder now. Most of mine hardly have anything in, if any at all, at the moment, so hope they don't ask me to close mine as I really need to get more ruthless with them and try & save. Good luck with yours.

£2.73 Tillied this morning after my DDs gone out!

Here's a question? Does anyone do this on their debts? ie - If my Barclaycard debt is £5782, would you pay an extra £2 to tidy that as well?

  • @CMD79 Can be as big or as small as you want it to be really. Smaller is more sustainable so whatever you can afford to lose really. A lot of people round a debt down if say for example it was 384.29 they may round down the 29p. It’s an amazing principle, for me I just need something to automate it as my bank doesn’t roundup automatically and third party services seem to take it in a chunk rather than manageable bits.
You seem to be doing amazing by the way paying off your debt, well done to you. Do you have a debt free diary?

@CMD79 Welcome aboard this thread. Love the Lloyds account name  :D
Don't forget to take advantage of the very good interest rate you can get with your FD account too. (3%) The Tillying bits add up through the month especially if you have a flurry of logging on to see - when you, do move a bit. Well done on your first Tilly.
Any OP to any debt is good, I used to smile when I would send maybe just 40P to round it down. Never once did they not accept anything.

@Makingabobor2 - Welcome too,  My Nationwide ones I have now added the percentage rate to each of them in the title i.e 1.35pc Xmas. Have you signed up for interest change notifications? There is a lot happening re interest rates. I use the app mostly as it is very easy to see and more convenient at times Good luck with Tillying away too.

@scrimpandsave - Have you checked if your bank offers this (rounding up/ saving the change) as you would have to apply - if not maybe consider a bank that works for you  No point in being loyal

Okay! I'm back from holiday, most of my direct debits have come out, so thse that have, I have Tillied down to the nearest £5.

    Zopa £1.94
    Barclaycard £1.86
    Tesco £3.42
    Very £1.78
    Next £1.

Total Debts Tidied = £10.29! Very happy with that... :)

However, this left a very unsatisfiying £0.02 to Tilly from my First account into the Stop Being A Prat account...  :s

Still, £10.31 Tillied for me today, and I think once my statements for each debt have been sent, I might do it again at the end of the month.

    :)
