@PipneyJane, I may be the guilty party for mentioning eucalyptus oil to get grease off textiles: we used it when we went caravanning and my sister and I used to climb over the tow bar, inevitably sometimes getting black grease on clothes. Nowadays I sometimes put a couple of drops in the washing machine drawer when washing bedding or towels as I understand it's mildly disinfectant and also leaves a nice fresh smell. I seem to remember reading that's its poisonous so needs to be used with care.
Thank you again @Cherryfudge. It worked a treat to get the grease out of my pink t-shirt.
Eucalyptus oil is poisonous and that is well known in Oz. Interestingly, though, an old Australian "cure" for a sore throat was to put 3 drops of eucalyptus oil on a lump of sugar and then suck on it. Only 3 drops, mind you - it was spelt out that more would make you very sick - and it did appear to work. I also remember Vicks Honey & Eucalyptus cough sweets, similar to these, which were freely available.
Because I get it bought to me in 500ml bottles, whenever an Australian is visiting*, I usually add a teaspoonful of Eucalyptus oil solution to 500ml of liquid hand soap to make Eucalyptus "soap" (aka MrT's cheapest bath foam in a recycled dispenser). Euc-soap was something I loved when I was a student nurse. We'd add it to the bath water, when we were bathing patients. It made great bubble baths and smelt divine.

* They always get a shopping list to bring with them: Tim-Tams, Peppermint Slices, Eucalyptus Water Soluble Solution and the occasional potato peeler."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

I buy rosemary essential oil by the 500ml bottle every few years, and add 10-15 drops to a 500ml unscented Ecover washing-up liquid, along with a good sploosh of vodka - when I worked in the South of France many years ago, the supermarkets sold washing-up liquid with rosemary oil and it smelt so heavenly and just like the footpath I walked along to and from work... when I came back I missed it so much I started making my own!
I squirt it into a small dish and add a small splash of tapwater, then dip the brush or sponge into it - it lasts MUCH longer that way!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

(FWIW, I dilute my washing up liquid 50:50 with white vinegar, put it in a pump-action soap dispenser and use 2-3 squirts per wash. We have extremely hard water and this mitigates it, preventing glasses turning milky.)

Hi all, I have a sponge on a stick thing from Mr T that you put the washing up liquid in the stick and it comes through the sponge. I find it very economical and only use about 2 bottles a year.
@PipneyJane your shopping list intrigues me, what is different about the potato peelers in Aus?
Take care everyone4 -

I thought I would join this, albeit 6 months late! I tried to do it last year but got distracted. I have bought so little this year that I remember it all though so can work out my coupons.
10 x pairs of knickers - 20 coupons
2 x pairs of leggings - 4 coupons
Beige skater dress - 7 coupons
1 x pair of ski pants - 6? or would they be the same as a coat at 14 coupons? Possibly 14 coupons as they are waterproof and lined, but as I have only bought them as indoor warm trousers for winter I'll say 6!
So 37 coupons for the year so far. Blimey, those knickers used a lot! Although they were very cheap in real terms and 5 pairs have been put aside for when other pairs wear out.
Do you count it when people give you things, or only when you buy stuff?Live the good life where you have been planted.

Welcome back to Much Mending on the Borrow. We'll assume you've been away on War Work and won't ask too many nosey questions. We're on the veranda listening to the cricket on the radio. Please pull up a chair and have a glass of cider.
The ski pants would count as dungarees or work trousers, so 6 coupons is correct.
If people give us stuff, the assumption is that they're using their coupons. (Unless you have a tame multi-millionaire lapdog, who buys you everything you so much as look at. In that case, it's his money, but it's your coupons.)

Very important war work, @PipneyJane. Can't say more - you know how it is...
Excellent news about the ski pants only being 6 coupons, and not having to use any coupons for the two ridiculous Xmas jumpers a friend gave me because she didn't want them. They'll no doubt keep me warm in December though!
A seat on the veranda listening the the cricket sounds delightful, thank you very much, don't mind if I do!Live the good life where you have been planted.
