I'm back in the office again. I checked with the most paranoid coworker (who is also the one I spend the most time with & who gets more of my stuff dumped on her when I'm out) and she agreed to letting me in as long as I wear a mask until the rest of the family is testing negative.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. So a bra is 1.5, and leggings (my "shorts" are actually short leggings) 2 coupons per pair? So I've actually spent 5.5 coupons. Well, plus some trimmings - I suspect I'd be bust if I had to account for those! 5 yds of ribbon & 5 of beaded trim... To be fair, I didn't use nearly as much as I bought, because I didn't know exactly how it would all work out until I'd done it. Anyway, off to update my signature...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)3

Tapes, braid and ribbons are off-ration, @thriftwizard as long as they are less than one inch in width. In reality, I shouldn't think much was available after a while.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.4

Well this week at the car boot I managed to find some linen napkins as I was in need of something to infill on the front of the long sleeved linen dress I bought the previous week. Have gone for a contrasting colour of "beige" against navy blue. 1 napkin was a standard edge finish the other has some crochet/tatting on it. I have decided to cut the napkin in half and I will be able to get 2 styles from it as the intention is to use press studs. 1 will be higher sited and the other will be that bit lower, the same but different. Thanks for the inspirations Peeps x
(the other napkin will be just that, as I constantly get food on my boobs!)
Have a good week all

That made me laugh, 2Scratters. And then pause - I am always getting food down my front, and I have several t-shirts which are only fit for wearing around the house because there's a grease stain or similar that won't come out. Maybe I should start wearing one tucked in at the neck!Let us see a picture of the dress, I'm impressed with your resourcefulness, true 'make do and mend' spirit.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. I love my homemade salad dressing but the combination of oil and vinegar and the Tamari soy sauce I add for an extra bit of salty flavour is just about permanent and I've sadly lost several beloved t-shirts...
I know have a loose old faded long-sleeve top which is even called "my frying top" after several nice tops had fat splash onto sleeves, neck, collar, places not covered by an apron - and I have a napkin I tuck into my neckline for eating salads!!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

(Wondering what to charge myself for 5m of 2" beaded trim... the ribbon is just on the inch wide)
Also guilty of "killing" t-shirts with oil/fat/dropped food! To the extent that I now try to hunt out patterned or textured tops...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5 -
Finished this top today....had the yarn and pattern since before covid so I thought it was time to make it!
Not sure where or when I'll wear it...maybe with a strappy top underneath or a long sleeved t shirt under for Autumn. It's a bit holey to wear on its own.

Ooh, nice top, @MrsCD! Lovely summer colour.
Those of you who are busy spilling food down your clothes... this evening I had friends round, put the kettle on, handed round the biscuits, set my own cup down and settled into a chair only to knock my coffee over the fabric settee arm and adjacent cream curtain! At least it was black coffee on a dark brown sofa and I was able to spot clean then machine wash the curtain which I think will be fine to go up again tomorrow.
My husband's version of the ruinaceous spill is fresh orange down whatever he's wearing. I've yet to find how to get it out, especially if not caught quickly.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Hi all, my favourite trick is anything in a tomato sauce on anything white
but I have discovered that if it is treated asap with a squidge of washing up liquid and cool water rubbed gently between the fingers it comes off beautifully. I really have lost count of the number of items that I have ruined and always tuck a napkin in if there is one available
.
Completed a small mending task on my swimming costume to fix the problem of foam pads in the bra section wandering around during the wash. The costume has now been through the wash twice and it's worked
Take care everyone7
