Well I’m relieved to know I am not the only one who spills food down their clothing, honestly I don’t know why a napkin didn’t occur to me before. It’s not a classy look but I eat most of my meals alone so who’s to know! (I might not adopt it when out with friends 😄).It’s such a waste of good clothes and in other ways I’m so careful to make things last. Good tip about the washing-up liquid, @Liverpool_Anne, unfortunately some of my dining incidents were not tackled immediately and it seems nigh on impossible to get grease/oil out afterwards.Oh @Cherryfudge I hope the coffee comes out of the curtain.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Also, lovely colour top @MrsCD, I think it would look great with a white long-sleeved t shirt underneath, if it’s too holey to wear on its own.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.4

@Baileys_Babe and @thriftwizard - go with your conscience re coupons spend. I think 4 coupons are fine for a pair of pyjama bottoms, while the 2 inch braid should be coupon-less, but go with your conscience. (Sorry, not much help.)
On the spills and greasy stains problem: one thing that works brilliantly to get off grease marks is eucalyptus oil. Thanks to our very own @Laura_Elsewhere for suggesting it a while back. It worked beautifully. (In Australia, they sell eucalyptus oil in the cleaning aisle, in 500ml bottles, to be diluted with water as a surface cleaner/disinfectant. I've used it on floors - works well.)

MrsCD said:Finished this top today....had the yarn and pattern since before covid so I thought it was time to make it!
Not sure where or when I'll wear it...maybe with a strappy top underneath or a long sleeved t shirt under for Autumn. It's a bit holey to wear on its own.

Thank you and @Laura_Elsewhere also for the tip regarding grease marks, wish I could affordably buy eucalyptus oil in 500 ml bottles.
That is a lovely top @MrsCD it looks like the colour would go beautifully with navy or white.

@PipneyJane - that wasn't me! I've never heard of using eucalyptus oil on textiles, ever! I avoid it, tbh, along with tea-tree, because I know too many people who used it without problems for years and then developed a really nasty reaction to even the tiniest bit of it - I do use essential oils but very very very carefully and always hugely diluted. And I've never heard of using them on textiles - I don't think I could bring myself to do it, knowing how damaging some can be to eg curtains or carpets if you use a spray with them in
The tip I suggested that worked for you was soaking your white or cream jumper in milk to remove an old tomato-y stain, I think...

Hmmm..... I know I read the eucalyptus tip in a Fashion on the Ration Challenge thread... Now to work out when, so that I can find the post and credit the person who suggested it. (Was it @thriftwizard?)

Not me either, @PipneyJane, cleaning is definitely not my forté! I'm going to add 10 coupons for the beaded fringe, it's a little bit OTT really & I'd never have got away with it in wartime - there wouldn't have been much demand for 63-year-olds to entertain the troops! We dance for our own enjoyment & fitness & the dressing-up is just part of the fun, really.
