  • Thanks everyone  :)

The plan is taking shape. It isn't very MSE on the face of it, but hoping to offset by very low living costs for a few months. I will also use interest from savings. Hoping house prices may have stabilised a little when I return to further offset the cost... Who knows. What I do know is the thought of it has lifted my energy and given me a new focus.

It feels like an investment in my mental health.

    Decided...
    • The jobs I apply for will be remote, so I can keep applying. The country I hope to go to had the 'work from here' scheme during lockdown so has good internet connection
    • Going to pay for C1fas cover for anti-fraud issues as my post recently went astray and I'd feel better having it if I was away for a bit TODAY
    • Checked passport and a few years to run so all good
    • Checked flights. Pricey but doable
    To do...
    • Check with a relative that I can use the apartment (@Humdinger1 I will have space to myself but very near a close relative so I can have meals there sometimes if I want)
    • Place is remote so need to check out helicopters costs from the main landing airport TODAY
    • Check savings boards for better interest TODAY
    • Check entry requirements
In other news, going to keep on looking for houses and jobs up until mid October then I will book.

I also have a deadline for creative stuff. I have a few weeks but want to complete by the end of next week.

Drawing up a workplace/appointments for the next 2 weeks TODAY.

    Hope you are all ok.

The opportunity to have some time abroad sounds fantastic, and nice to get a break from everything here.

Good luck with the job application, well done for getting it done!

Thank you @jwil. Really pleased I got the job application in!

So I can cross the following off my list as my relative says the apartment is free  :)
    • Check with a relative that I can use the apartment (@Humdinger1 I will have space to myself but very near a close relative so I can have meals there sometimes if I want)
I checked savings boards. NS&I have increased their direct saver rates and income bonds (both instant access) from 0.5 to 1.2% It isn't the highest but all funds can be in one pot so less faffy. The next step is to get this done...
    • Check savings boards for better interest TODAY
I checked entry requirements and all is fine. (Before Covid they more or less sealed borders to visitors)
    • Check entry requirements
    I checked helicopter costs
    • Place is remote so need to check out helicopters costs from the main landing airport TODAY

Today I spoke to close relative and another relative. They know I will be coming and they know why. They are sorry I lost the house.

I can't quite believe I am going to do this!

Today I spent £20 on food. Posh coffee was reduced from £5 to £1.25 as they were clearing the space. Date April 2023. Bought 4, so a nice contribution to the house for my host.

    Hope everyone is ok.
