Thanks everyone
Well, what a week! Very challenging and tiring. I have tech challenges as anyone who knows me on here will know. That said, I am learning new systems. My barrier is a dislike not a can't do. I am quite proud of myself (underneath the exhaustion)...It's a great job, but I want to wake up and walk somewhere nice then come home and do something creative. I am giving 4 days of my life over and I'm not comfortable with that. Work and travel is 12 hours. Might feel differently if WFH as that 12 hours would reduce to 8 giving me 8 free non sleeping hours instead of 4. Anyway, I'm going to try a new route to knock an hour off my daily travel. Also work have agreed I can work 8-4 instead of 9-5 so will do that next week. Roll on pay day.
No news on house except the solicitors are communicating now.
MSE wise not brilliant. I've concentrated on being kind to myself so stops off on the way in for coffees. I have taken lunches in so good there. I bought a travel pass that I forgot one day and had to pay again! Generally, all protein is purchased at 30% off then frozen (Mr L) I don't have time to hunt YS and 30% off is easier to get.
Sending clothes back. The scarf I purchased was ok but I found another made of raw silk and linen. Very beautiful from my fave CS and £2.50 so the £45 (in the sale) one goes back!! Plus dress was a bit of a sack shape on...
A financial frog involves finding a better rate and following through. PBs need to be transferred too as the tiny wins are no compensation for no interest. Lost the bonus on an account so frog needs actioning this month.
Laptop keyboard is knackered but realised I just need a separate keyboard so will see if I can find one. I have a few but in storage. Might be able to get one from work in the meantime.
Taking it ridiculously easy this weekend. No demands on me!
I hope everyone is ok

Glad to read you've survived and succeeded with tech challenges. Maybe over time work will agree to WFH as it makes such a massive difference in time. 🤞🤞
I think being kind to yourself during such a stressful and exhausting week is essential. Sorry to read clothes no good either but best to return quickly. The scarf sounds like a real bargain.Sun is shining here so hope it is where you are too and you can have a relaxing weekend.4 -
Glad it's gone ok and there are some good wins in there as well as challenges!
I hope work will allow WFH sometimes - even 1 or 2 days will make a big difference."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Hi @doingitanyway, hope you don't mind me popping in.
Glad your first week went ok, but totally empathise with the 'not really what I want to be doing with my time' feeling. Working and commuting is tiring. Personally I don't recover in anywhere near the time I did when I was younger, so I've had to accept that I need to spend some extra money for timesaving and convenience at the moment.
I think maybe you're doing this for a short term aim, though, (? - sorry if I'm wrong) so keep your eyes on the prize, and make it as easy on yourself as possible.
Excellent find on the scarf4 -
You made it - that's the important thing. That commute would tire anyone out - not surprising that you found the change exhausting. Hope it will get easier for you and that you can do some WFH. I think you said it was a short term role for now to help you get the house. Hopefully you can reassess again if you need to once you are in your new home.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
