Belated Happy birthday for yesterday mothernerd.
My kid free weekend didn't happen. Yesterday went for a very steep walk up to ski lodge promised hot chocolates when we got there but we were all too hot for them after hike up there. Then some friends got me out of the house to a pub with live music in the evening, dd1 stayed and looked after kids. Great fun night out. Head bit tender today. Usually drive when I go out.
Dragged kids to zoo for a walk around this afternoon, 4 rescued seal pups there, so tiny. They then release them on local beach when they are ready. NSD today took snacks and a flask.
Grateful for
lots of laughing last night
Music
Weather being dry to get out and about.

Grateful for easy food, seeing squirrels, swans and socks on our walk this afternoon, cyclamen flowering in the garden, berries on the holly tree.

Feeling okay. Wrote some short notes (one to the opticians and including the 5 pairs of spectacles found so far - to go to Vision Aid). Couch has lots of bags on it ready for the charity shop run - they may only get as far as my house as I have a couple of urgent things to do and I think the Vicar will be round tomorrow afternoon (it's on one of my scribbled notes somewhere).
Lovely retired vicar came round - she is going to do the eulogy. We were of to a good start when she said from what she'd seen, mum's partners family never really considered her welfare. They do get a mention but it emphasizes how much she did for them (take that Mr 'she was taken on holiday' - doubtless did more free childcare whilst you and your partner went out gallivanting). Think she might have been approached by them, mum's cousin has had one of them pursuing her round the playground when she's been collecting her grandson. Mum's cousin is already struggling thinking about mum, it was her brother's birthday on the 19th and the anniversary of his death the week before and the anniversary of her mother's death (when she was 17) is just before Christmas.
So went through and put in lots of anecdotes - mum's parents waited a long time for her (only child) and their tenancy agreement said no children, so every week when grandma went to pay her rent to the landlady, she hid mum and her pram round the corner.
So quite a good long chat, talking about mum's long association with the church, her first boyfriend (the one who used to phone her every morning at 9.30 am - must talk to him again after the funeral). A couple more cards came yesterday so I know another of the people I was trying to get in touch with know about mum. Some older people are definitely not coming (I'm not dragging a 91 yo all the way from Timperley), so I might sort out the photos with members of their families and package them ready to post.
Ate the last of my takeaway leftovers and then took the mixer, the microwave and (my) sodastream back to my house. DS3 was saying how difficult it's getting being without a microwave and I don't trust him not to go and buy one (or rather use the internet genie to have one delivered). Not going through weeks of trying to reduce possessions and then find duplicates when I get home.
Found my remaining pills - hadn't had all this mornings, ordered more last week but Beloved has had hers stopped so need to put that on my list for when I ring/ contact the surgery. Collected my black jacket, scarf, hat and several bras (not worn one for ages but hoping if I can hoist magnificent bosom it will deflect attention from my midriff - may have to add an extra piece from one of the other bras). Can't find either of my black dresses so will have to wear leggings under my tunic dress. Also found black tie for DS3. Checked my list and found the toothpaste (non sodium laurel sulphate), then went to little Arseda.
Lots of drinks, 2 tuna and pasta salads (ys'd to 51 p each), barm cakes to continue reducing the bacon mountain, wildly extravagant chicken pakoras (compensated for by hardly any food spending for the past 3 days), 3 yoghurts (breakfast for the next 3 days), couple of treats and 5 x 55p bags for life. Got to the stage where every time I need a bag, I have to empty out the stuff I already have in it - good way to lose stray bits of paperwork.
Now back on the bed with my feet tucked under the covers (back and ankle particularly painful). going to read, play some games and puzzles, (another wildly extravagant purchase - garden mag with 10 free packs of veg seeds - probably won't get lots of seed sowing done this year but I can dream). Going to rest, do gentle stretches and may watch the Meat loaf special on i-player (Call the Midwife later). Would like to write some thank you notes - included lots of health workers in the eulogy. Just need to unwind but want to tick some easy bits off my list (and gather all the little bits of paper and sort them).
Grateful for lovely vicar, being able to find most of my clothes, a few treats (no idea on NSDs but mostly eating from mum's cupboards and freezer with a few purchases to break the monotony - baked beans 4 days on the run.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -

mothernerd - I love that your magazines often come with things attached. In the United States, they don't. When I visited in England, one of the first things I would do is go to the bookstore and check out the magazines. I often bought them just for what was attached. Over the years I got packets of seeds, several books to read, a t-shirt for my sister, a spoon and fork set - child-sized and perfect for traveling, golf balls, a wonderful diary, a scarf, an expandable tool for people working on their car to pick up dropped small parts - bought three of the magazines for relatives, several needlepoint kits, several DVDs and CDs, among other things. Sometimes I did almost all my gift shopping just by looking at the magazines. And I got to enjoy the magazines also.9

Had a nice day today. Did some of my PT work. Met my friend for a walk, did over 14k steps. My turn to pay for coffee so lost another chance for a NSD. Nevermind. Came home and made a veggie roast. Going to bed soon as feel really cold.

Hugs to those in need of them. Sorry for not checking in. Am now on 17 NSD.
Has been an very expensive month. I already knew about some bills that had to be paid and a couple of things that I had to order. Unexpectedly I had to order a new pair of walking boots, as my walking shoes were letting in water. Did try to order another pair of walking shoes, but they were out of stock, so luckily the walking boots were about £5 cheaper. I also had to get a locksmith out as had issues with getting the key out of the lock on the inside of door. You have to open and lock the door from both inside and outside locks. Luckily he kindly gave me some money off from what he quoted me, so £30 saved. My nephew came down to stay over last night and my brother gave him something to give to me to help with the lock if I have any further issues, also a craft kit for me to do. Something totally different to what I am used to, but it will make a nice change and challenge. I also entered a charity 5k event in July at a park in London, also had money off entry fee. Also went to see a film yesterday at a local cinema, paid for it online so saved £1 on ticket and brought my own refreshments. Used vouchers for my favourite shop to buy 2 different pairs of trainers, luckily I managed to get them from the children's department. They are just plain ones and were £25 each. Have to be careful for the rest of the month.
Grateful for:
Having a chilled out day.
Lovely and relaxing bath.
