jwil said:I got a letter from the GP asking me to book in for another blood sugar level test. So I've got that tomorrow. I'm not convinced there will be any difference! My weight certainly isn't any better. I've made good progress with eating well, but certainly haven't reduced sugar enough.
Fingers crossed they can find a vein in the first instance!
You have a busy time ( which is good ) , but may be a bit harder trying to integrate new habits etc .Easier said than done , but sitting back assessing ( and writing down ) what you have everyday might trigger you into having slow but gradual changes into your diet.
( I hate the word diet but it's the only word that springs to mind ).
It can be tougher as your other half / children could be bad influences .Plus you have your new trainers ..😼3 -
I agree with AC.
I am part of a trial and there was an interesting bit of info that might be useful to you. To lower BS a walk after your largest or most starchy meal is a really good thing as it gives the glucose a place to go (your muscles, especially big ones like leg muscles)) Generally we are told to walk first thing and that is good but specifically for BS control it is after eating. I plan on doing a short walk in the morning for the daylight benefits and an evening walk with insulin in mind.
Hope all goes wellIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Thank you all for the advice, I really appreciate it. It will be interesting to see the result this time. I think it didn't really sink in last time as it was the first time it was tested and I didn't really understand the test. If it hasn't improved this time, or it's got worse, I'm hoping it will be a proper wake up call and I'll make more changes. I haven't done 'nothing' but I haven't done as much as I could. I have been more active and I have eaten better, but there is a lot more I could do, including tackling my chocolate habit!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". You've made a start already @jwil 😼👍, and should be proud of that.

just check scales every six weeks . Sooner than that won't be worthwhile .The annoying thing about sugar (and caffeine ) is that it's everywhere .Regarding chocolate , most of the Cadbury / mars stuff is horrendous due to artificial chemicals . ( Tastes nice though) . That's why I always say green and blacks , which is £2 a bar🙀or £1.50 every few weeks .Everything sounds great though. Keep going with the pads ..😼4 -

It's far easier to eat less of better quality chocolate I've found. I quite often just have a single square of a high cocoa percentage dark chocolate whereas as soon as milk chocolate is in the equation it's far easier to eat more - something to do with the melt-point in the mouth I think.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
