Something I've always found helpful on negotiating with the likes of Sky/mobile providers etc is to work out who their main competition in our area is right at that moment - with Sky it's usually VM near us, and for mobile providers always a "budget" provider piggybacking off the same network - so PlusNet for EE, Tesco for O2 etc. I then work out what the best new customer deal is from the competitor, and call up the existing supplier and quote that as an "I've been offered..." deal. It's pretty rare for them not to want to at least match it, and EE's reaction last time I did it was "Oh, well I think we can beat THAT!" Also with Sky, I've long adopted the policy of going in with the charm-offensive of "we REALLY want to stay with you guys but with money getting tighter, we're not sure that's going to be possible..." It seems to work better than a direct threat to leave and can be used repeatedly without just ending up coming across as an empty threat.
Oh - and having had last year with Sh3ll we wouldn't go back to them. The service was OK, but they demand the router back when you leave, and then charge for it regardless of it being returned. Handily I'd taken the precaution of getting a certificate of posting - all it took was the mention of having one on the live chat and there was an immediate apology and assurance it would be refunded.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well done on the donation. I agree it is a bad situation. It feels really random as I rarely read the news so didn't have some of the build up others did... Scary.
Have to keep focusing on what we can control. Hope you get some time to yourself soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -

Actually you've reminded me there was a post on a local FB group a while back looking for recommendations for providers, I'll go back and see if I can hunt that out and see what others in the area are using."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We've had a couple more sales, so I've sent that to the mortgage along with some cashback I redeemed as well.
Does anyone do I-say surveys? They've been terrible for me since the website changed, I just get screened out all the time. I'm tempted to ditch them once I get to redemption, but I used to get 1-2 amazon vouchers a month from them, so it's such a shame.

I tried the iPsos / isay surveys last year.
I did quite a few, but found it difficult to actually find out how many points / value I have . My iCloud Keychain changed my password for a more secure one and that caused problems.I was just putting my toe into the water so to speak regarding surveys so not sure if I’ll continue..
Edited to say , I just got a "we miss you" email from them. My account has been temporarily deactivated so I'll log into that in the near future .
I'll leave it there 😼..4 -
