I've had a nice quiet day today and finished my Stephen King book at last. I'm still not sleeping well at night, so still exhausted which is frustrating.
I'm a bit depressed about the mini budget. It just seems like the NHS, and all public services are going to be decimated. They are all bad enough now without all the tax cuts. It will be nice to have a few extra £ in my wage packet, but honestly, I'd rather pay more tax and know there are decent public services.
Little jwil is off for his sleepover this weekend. He's very excited. I want to try and nag encourage DH to do some more to empty the room so that the kids can have their own rooms."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". The stock market doesnt like the mini budget which does not bode well for any of us. From my point of view it was a waste of time as I only pay a very small amount of tax and being retired no NI and what doesnt seem to occur to them is growth in the economy takes time and as a government they dont have time as the next election is in approx 2 years. They want companies to move here but companies will only relocate when things are proven and again there isnt time for that. The most worrying thing is the debt that is being built up without any idea how it is going to be paid. A distinct lack of detail.Good luck with your encouragement of DH. I am still waitng for the dining tabloe to be cleared after Mr LH completed a project making stuff for possible power cuts in the winter. Eventually I will get fed up and just chuck it in his room.3

Well, all I can say is my gentle persuasion worked! 😱 He has pretty much emptied the room! There's still stuff under the bed frame, but that's ok for a minute. I am totally amazed. He did moan and strop and ask me to give him til half term but I suggested there was no reason why we needed to wait.
It's brilliant. Now I am finally going to try and get an electrician in. We don't have much in the way of house savings, but I really want to get this done, so I'll dip into my PBs if need be. I'm going to do a bank account switch for our joint account too, so hopefully that will help, and can be used to top up my PBs if it doesn't come through in time. I'm going to get the consumer unit upgraded (we've still got a wire fuse box!) and additional sockets in both the kids rooms. Then we'll finally be able to decorate them and give them a decent room each.
Now the challenge will be finding someone to do the work and hoping that it's not too expensive. We've had so many difficulties getting tradespeople. I'm hoping all the craziness has calmed down a bit now.
Another ebay item sold yesterday so I've packed and posted that. I've also left my first ever negative. I bought an item two weeks ago, it was marked as posted after it was due to be delivered, and when I asked for an update they just refunded me with no message, and no apology. I don't think they even posted it because I would have been happy to wait otherwise, I just wanted an idea of which service had been used and when I could expect it. I wouldn't mind if they had just cancelled when I bought it, but sitting on my money for 2 weeks with no explanation is just annoying."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
