Sounds like you all had a fun Christmas celebration, Honey_Bear - but I'm very relieved to know that your Beloved didn't hurt himself.
I too get very tired very easily, hence all my afternoon zzz. 45 minutes out with Rosie is enough to tire me out. But I can remember my grandmother (in her 80s) and aunts (in their 60s) all sitting down after lunch each day and resting for an hour, so I don't feel guilty about doing the same in my 70s
Showered and dressed at lastBathroom and ensuite S&S'd. Thankyou phonecall made to DSiL. Cuppa (made by DH) drunk. Wool and pattern found.
Present wrapping next...10 -
Welcome all our new members , I had forgotten the best bit about a new year was our new flyminions joining our comfy home... This is a wonderful community, more like family really and I look forward to getting to know you all better.. please jump right in, every post is welcome and read xx
HB.. That sounds llike a wonderful christmas and OUCH for Mr Bear. He would probably have been more hurt if he wasn't wearing his beer suit.
Thank you for birthday messages
The girls just opened the last of their presents.. including the Xbox from MIL .. the middle 2 are over the moon! Squeak has a phone, NOTHING else matters and Twinkle has the new ipad so 4 very happy girls.
Wrapped stuff to drop off at the rona-rellies later.. DS1 is very poorly by all accounts and the others are less so fortunately. As awful as it sounds it was MUCH calmer and quieter without him.
I need to bob to shop for milk and pringles.. Dot got some she didn't like so we agreed to put them on the table to share and buy her ones she does like.
We have 12 binbags of rubbish in the car so weill be heading to the tip at the back end of the week.. it will be far too busy the next few days.. thankfully it is binday tomorrow and I am hoping they will take additional bags it's being christmas and all.
My sister was delighted with the new bedding I got her, it was nothing fancy but she got a new mattress so new sheets was very much appreciated.

Your story made me smile HB. DS2 has finally tested negative and has no symptoms so its Christmas Eve for us! Mum had her hair done last Thursday and her hairdresser came down with Covid two days later. She is negative so far and is coming tomorrow with Dad, DS1 and GF for Christmas Dinner. I know its probably the wrong attitude but I am past caring, if we get it we get it. DS1 is vulnerable but is mixing with all and sundry and going to the pub and work so I am hoping the vaccines keep him safe.
Been for a walk, fire lit now. We have just had tea and Christmas cake. It's foggy and cold. Washing over the airer, need to decide what we are having for tea.
Welcome to all newbies, nice to meet you!12 -
I've had a really lazy day and have watched 7 brides for 7 brothers and My fair Lady (which brought back happy memories of the crucible's production of the same I was lucky enough to see) and I have had a nap and eaten some leftovers - leftover beef wellington no less.
Glad Mr bear is ok.
I have put away some of the 'fancy' pots which came out on Christmas day (and which don't go in the dishwasher - so the post china wasn't used.
I need to source a replacement lead crystal champagne flute. Oops.

YL - you have a lovely Christmas tomorrow. You truly deserve it xx
HB, these are the things that Christmas memories are made of. Glad Mr HB is none the worse for wear.
Iona - I really must read more accurately. I read that “Cuppa made by drunk DH”. I was suitably impressed that it was still morning and he had managed such a feat…
ASB, I will continue to cheer you on from the lurking sidelines on the frugal thread. I am nowhere near your example, but you are a source of inspiration.
Tasty veggie tagine cooked in the sc, with tomato bulgur wheat. WU, and DH DUPA. Kitchen tidied, wm loaded for the morning and bins out for collection. In my pjs, cuppa made, chocolate to hand.9 -
You're not alone Valli, I managed to smash a beautiful storage jar originally used at DDs wedding.
Have a great celebration tomorrow YSL.
Tomorrow DH is working from home again so the dogs and I are going to a gathering at DDs house for lots of family members from both sides.Spend less now, work less later.11 -
Back home today after a great few days at Mum's; few words and unfavourable thoughts no doubt, but we all generally got on ok. Came back with bags off stuff including 2 large bags from Mr Al; we stopped off for milk just as assistant was marking fruit, veg, salad and fresh fish down 75% - how could I resist? Tomorrow will be unpacking, putting away and flying.
Many thanks for all your cards, knitted Santa and lovely bags from secret Santa which reflect my love for birds and using less plastic.
Happy birthday Pigpen.
Welcome to newbies.

HB it sounds like you had an amazing Christmas 😁 I'm sure the families of those students are grateful for your kindness. It has been awful this year with the amount of Christmases being postponed! I'm glad Mr HB is okay!
YL enjoy your Christmas tomorrow!
I am feeling much better today 🙂 I made my own breakfast & lunch as otherwise I would have to survive on biscuits & pringles!! DH thawed some bolognese for dinner with pasta.
I had planned to do lots of admin, but my laptop had other ideas! I had to restart it, and it took an hour or more to start up again!! Strangely, as soon as I start searching online for new ones it starts working!! It is on borrowed time!! 🤣
I did manage to renew my car tax, and deal with a weeks worth of emails. I have also advised ofsted and my local council that I have the lurgy, even though I am closed! Track & trace have called me - my sentence ends on 2/1, although I may be out on 30/12 for good behaviour! 🤣🤣🤞🤞
1 load of washing done. The Swedish store delivered another bed, so we could keep 1 box & send back the other 2 - just so we would have the missing bases to 2 drawers! They are now done so tomorrow i plan to put away everything in my bedroom that should have been done a week ago! Hopefully DS & DH will leave the house tomorrow to get some fresh air!! DS has his booster in the morning anyway (🤞🤞🤞!!)
Night night all!8 -
Thanks all. Fingers crossed that you get out early GI. DS is 21 on Sunday and has a day at the races planned on Thursday with friends so thankfully it looks like he is going to be OK for that. He just has to show that he had a negative LFT within 24 hours of going (how they know that the test is his or when he took it is another matter!).
Going to do a quick yoga session as I am a bit achy then shower, dressed and on with some prep for family visiting later. The house could definitely do with a tidy and hoover and the fire needs cleaning out.
Have a good Tuesday everyone x10 -
