Well done! I searched for "Ylive" on my email app in between sets at the gym this morning and managed to get screened out of 8 surveys 😂

First of the month round-up….
- Savings for retirement: +£2,183.21
- Average needed per month to retire in 9 years: £4,057.98
- Rolling 12-month average: £2,346.10
- Getting FIREd up starts: April 2027
Not the best month, but I did think I might finish down overall, so I'm taking it as a win. I feel like The Grand Old Duke of York (not Andrew M-W), except I'm drilling 170,000 instead of 10,000 😅
I didn't manage to clear all my debts to third parties in September as anticipated, but for good reasons: 1) I booked a holiday 🥳 and 2) I'm in the midst of sending the second tranche of "the other thing", so no available readies. It's now on course for December.
I have also learned this month that work adds their NI saving to my pension contributions each month. This is making me consider whether I could manage two years of increased contributions to take me up to the point that the NI cap comes in, instead of the one year I have planned for. The only thing it would have an impact on is the amount going into S&S (basically, not very much for yet another two years), so the question is whether that would leave me short on funds for the pre-pension years. Plenty to think about, and I have 18 months to make my mind up, so no real rush 🤣!

And of course, all of the above may be subject to change in the budget anyway 🤷♀️!

This 'pension vs Isa' thing is such an ongoing decision struggle, isn't it?
I'm in the (lucky!) position to (hopefully) be paid a bonus next month (first one in years!), and they asked me whether I want it in my pension or paid out. Really, realistically I know that my goal is to grow my ISA pot to cover the bridge to pensions, but the tax saving is so tempting! In the end I told them 50/50 because I couldn't decide. 😆4 -
Ooh, that is an exciting problem to have 🎉! I remember bonuses, can't see we'll get one for a good few years though....but can't really complain as my basic is plenty. I might do a 50/50 with the pension as well and only do an additional 6 months. Mustn't get too ahead of myself though, as the Govt are sure to thwart whatever plans I come up with 🤦♀️!
