2022 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

hi all - just posting after my trip to Germany - had lovely time but the less said about the travelling the better. Still we got there and back safe and sound which is the main thing. I did buy a few new tree decorations, a few presents and a cardigan for me (I love C & A which they still have there). I have 117 posts to catch up on.
I have decluttered second bathroom floor which was soaked underneath. Potential small toilet leak adding to problem in there but workmen happy to treat as one interconnected claim. Hopefully progress now as it will dry and plumber coming to sort toilet asap.

A very surprised MrsSD 😲
Nostalgia Warning - Possibly only of interest to me!
I've had 2 usernames prior to EnergyShifter so I did a search for them. My earliest post under the name of MsHalffull was on a decluttering Challenge in 2010 !!!! (& some familiar names were there too! - @short_bird & @oceanspirit !!! )
After I got home from dinner with friends last night I read all of my posts from that year - I'd had to do a massive of discarding of stuff when I moved / downsized in 2006 - but from what I could glean from the posts I still had way too much stuff in 2010 and was struggling to keep the place tidy & organised. I seem particularly overwhelmed by the loft and garden shed. I had lots of stuff I was keeping to sell both for myself and others. Reading the posts I can see how much the thread helped me and by the end of the year I was doing really well discarding things.
I was also struck by how often I was ill. I'm sure that some of that was having a primary school age child but I also know I was obese then and I can see from a post in July 2010 that's when I started to go to the gym . by my 50th Birthday the following January I was 1 1/2 stone lighter ( & only overweight). Over the next 2 years I shifted another 3 1/2 stone - 5 stone in total - which I've managed to mostly keep off since then ( my weight varies within a 7lb range mostly depending on the time of year) .
It might seem a bit of a strange thing to say but it all feels linked. Decluttering stuff led to Decluttering Weight and in turn the control I felt doing that led to me having the confidence to declutter a job I felt stuck in and become self-employed.
I've got a lot to thank this Challenge for. Thank you @MrsSD for keeping us motivated and thanks to all my fellow decluttering companions for making this the best place on the internet I've ever come across !

I'm wondering if there's any suggestions for dehumidifiers please? I think I remember chat on here about someone having a bad one and someone saying theirs was really good?
Cheers

A bit more decluttering, but just as a result of tidying up or considering if there is anything to get rid of when I open a cupboard/drawer. Just trying to build decluttering into usual daily activities so hopefully it becomes second nature and things never get out of control. Also decluttered a load of digital notes in a bored moment.4984 - jiffy bag (used)4985-5007 - digital notes deleted5008-9 - toothbrushes (buy nothing)5010 - old washing dosing ball (binned)Over 5,000 items out this year, which seems totally mad! Always more to do though and probably not helped by constant kids stuff in!2025 decluttering: 3,235🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

I joined MSE Flylady in July 2010. I should be living the dream after 12 years shouldn't I? Heyho. I'm taking comfort from the fact that I do now have floor in every room. And I'm quietly confident that the EDT will keep me on track in 2023. Even if I do need to flake out in the TLC carriage occasionally.
Thank you. 😊

@Floss , a skip or several will be needed nut not there yet. My DB has been at my dads most weeks but working from here and u raise overwhelmed. I can oy come in school holidays I'm taking bedding and other things foe the donation hub near me as can't find a place locally. I can't get my DDs to come down to see what they want. My nephew is coming down next week and has been great getting things out of the loft and the sheds. You've made me think I need to find a local playgroup or surestart for games / toys and craft things. Also hoping men in sheds scheme will take toys etc. Nothing as cleared out after my mum died apart from clothes! Making me mindful of my own stash of everything. @Liverpool_Anne love the knitting

For some reason post saved but not sent. Just seen @EnergyShifter's post and does remind that can be a long journey. Think I joined the thread 2019 . Def a link between overwhelm and overeating for me. Frogs as much as clutter overwhelm me so equally.important to tackle. Helpful insight12

That was a lovely and inspiring post @EnergyShifter.It reminds me that it’s a marathon not a sprint. I have a tally chart of bags to charity, boxes to Ziffit etc of the last few years it is quite scary to see how many bags and boxes have gone!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Great Post, EnergyShifter, andQueenJess- you are so right! Every time a drawer or cupboard is opened , seeing if there’s something to declutter is a great way to get the stuff out.Keep safe and warm everyone and Christmas greetings from cold France. Rxx9
