Meant to add my note to your dad as well siebre, dolls house looks amazing
And energyshifter, love that colour and the dresser itself. I have a couch, cushions and a 50s American diner set all in that colour as well as clothes, handbag etc. Big teal fan here

Love the dresser, I think I used the wrong paint when I've paint furniture. Also lovely display of things.
Decorator says wants kitchen and extension as clear as possible for painting Thursday. DD2 helped bring a few boxes down from the top of units. Some fancy cupcake wrappings - taken out of packaging and put in baking drawer. Chef hat in CS bag. Found set of coffee cups and can't decide whether to keep.... which means I probably will do for the time being! Think I have space to put things in cupboards rather than on top of the units - but then have lots of space above units as high ceilings and good to store other things but card board boxes don't look good.
Few bits in textile recycling and bin.10 -
It's finally gone!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳We've had an old couch in our back garden for about 18 months 🫣 that has finally gone! I'm so pleased that we've finally got it picked up and the back garden is a full back garden again! There does seem to be something going around, but I understand the TLC carriage is well stocked for those needing to take a break, and hope everyone feeling down feels better soon15

Jumper to cs bag
Sorted through my.mums sewing box I brought home a few months ago. Hari ribbon from infant school , many moons ago name tapes, elbow patches , so much darning wooletc. No tailors chalk which I'd be hoping for. Hoovered it and out things back. 100s of buttons on top of my stock from over the years. Keep thinking there must be something creative to be done with them. Some things I'm not sure what to do with but used the covid plastic bags to sort elastic, velcro etc.

Morning all, firstly can I apologise for being AWOL. I joined you all and then disappeared, I'm so sorry. It wasn't my intention but, well I don't know why I did this..maybe feeling overwhelmed. I do suffer from my mental health and it's an all or nothing with me. But I just can't get a middling ground.
I desperately need to declutter my house so that I can put it on the market - I don't think I'll meet my deadline of putting it on after Christmas..🫤
Where do I start? I need as much help and encouragement as possible, and need to be accountable so it actually gets done.
At the moment I'm like a duck - on the surface they are all calm and serene but under the water they are paddling furiously..lol That's the best description I can give...😀
I've been reading everyone's posts and well done on all the decluttering 👍

Natty, perhaps start with something that will help reduce the affect on your mental health. Which area would give you the greatest satisfaction if it were done? Perhaps making your bedroom a more tranquil place? Or your favourite chair in the living room - what can you clear from your line of vision?Once you have decided on the area, tell us here so this makes you accountable. Then go to that area and find something that is easy to deal with - something that can obviously go - and deal with it. Then if you feel you can carry on, do a little bit more. Try to keep to that area until it is done before starting another area.
It doesn’t matter how many times you post on here - if it helps you to get started.
Decluttering does bring up feelings of overwhelm - I have felt that myself this week - and when it comes up I find the best thing for me to do is find something to declutter. I can’t remember who said it, but they said “the antidote to despair is action” and I find that doing something helps me to feel better.
I am sure others will be along with their suggestions as we all work in different ways so you can choose which method works best for you.
I would also recommend YouTube for decluttering support - I have found A Hoarders Heart, Clutterbug, and Minimal Mom channels helpful. There are plenty of others.
Sorry if the tone of this post isn’t quite right - I have fatigue brain this morning so I am not finding the right words but wanted to try to help.
All the best for your decluttering journey.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16 -
Marie Kondo’s methode is really good. She proposes to not do room by room, but type of item by type of item. So, first you collect, say, all the scissors in your home, then select the one (or two) you want to keep, based on how well you like them / how well they work, and get rid of the rest. If you find any more scissors after that, they can go straight away, because you could not remember you had them, and they were not in a place you would have looked for them.
I have three pairs of scissors at the moment: 1 in the kitchen 1 in the sewing box, and 1 in the bathroom. DDs have 2 small pairs of scissors in their crafts drawers, which will stay there for another year, I think, and will then be added to their secondary school items.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.5911 -
@oceanspirit , had to look up the quote, Joan Baez the folk singer
@Natty68 overwhelm is so natural, and I agree about picking a small area, or perhaps a type of item. At my dad's we found 15 pairs of nail scissors, then other scissors and my home no better. Realise if moving you may want to focus on something bigger than nail scissors, but perhaps under the sink or one set of drawers starting with one at a time?
Getting my kitchen painting and hoping any of you /one of you lovely fellow declutters may have idea when I sort the kitchen. Have open shelves either side of the cooker so they do get abit greasy over time, and also higher ones too high for regular use. Bought plastic boxes which are not v attractive but I don't look up but run out of ideas what to keep there and how to make nicer. Just taken down box with spare t rolls, and 3 mop heads! totally forgot they were there. Keeping paints etc in case I ever get round to this - may have more time next year when DD2 moves home. Posting a pic - have already taken stuff off some shelves to move elsewhere. Saucepans on shelves that I don't use often e.g for mulled wine all sticky13
