I have done a load of laundry and also washed my slippers and the dog harnesses today. This is my first winter without a tumble dryer as we left it at our old house because of the increased energy bills. I have a heated airer but it is hard staying on top of it. I'm noticing what clothes we have that take ages to dry.
I dropped off a donation bag to a charity shop on Saturday. I did buy some things from a charity shop today including xmas decorations and so have decided to just put them up along with the xmas tree that was delivered today. I know it is early, but it is my house and I can do what I like. 🤩I did take down the autumn decorations and packed them away for next year.
I did throw away some awful old sandals and an old tea towel. I used the tea towel as a cat blanket first so it was on it's last legs. I did get rid of some more old paperwork. I don't know where it all comes from! I did get a folder for 10p in the chazzer today which helped streamline random things I keep together like upcoming train and concert tickets.
I need to tackle the airing cupboard as everything is haphazardly stuffed in there. I need to take everything out and put it back tidily as it is annoying me every time I look in there. I might do that tomorrow...2025 GOALS

Good grief, is that the time??
A quick total before I go back to the washing up.

I have a few financial things that will be seen off later - mostly payments - and as it's nearly Humphrey Bogart's Birthday, I should get that sorted sooner rather than later. Also need to book train tickets for the first weekend in December...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Morning xx
I've been through the cs bags and sorted the contents properly - now there's one bag of Christian books to go to my friend's church, plus two bags of books and a bag for life of other stuff to go to another friend's sister's church's thrift shop.
I cannot tell a lie. One book came out of the cs bags back into my life. But it's a read and then send to cs, so it will go eventually. It's not a 'keep' 😉😉
I sorted through another pile of paper during the adverts last night. Quite a wadge put aside to be recycled. And I found my early poems and 'sermons' - which will be kept.
On becoming a Christian:
Ahhhh.
I plan to sort the last remnants of the cupboard today.

So, minor setback: the Constructor came by yesterday to discuss the planning for the downstairs renovation and see if we needed to do more clearing before he could get started on Wednesday. We asked for a contract to sign, and he said there would be no contract as it would all be paid under the table. What! We don't have €85,000 lying around
We need invoices to be able to claim the new mortgage. So, no renovation starting Wednesday. We will look on the bright side and finish the upstairs renovation, and slowly start on the downstairs renovation ourselves, and chase our Architect to make haste with the hunt of a proper Constructor within budget.

How very disappointing Siebrie. Some things are for the best.I have decided to put the top hat light shade on hold. I don’t think it would be big enough in our bedroom to be impactful. I will make a stand from an old posser and see how that looks.Nothing out other than the usual household recycling. We never fill our black rubbish bin. I managed to swap the other two big bins for little ones in the summer. No takers for a black bin swap from big to small. The council will swap them for a cost of £30.30. Perhaps time for another advertisement on fb.I am reaping the benefit of feeling better by cleaning up stairs yesterday, turning the mattress and changing the bed. Tomorrow will be down stairs. The biggest job is the kitchen as I have only done enough to not catch salmonella for a while. All the tops of the units are dusty from the building work dust. There is also the problem of the remains of a plastic lunch box melted on the vent from the oven. face palm.Thank you folks for recent photos. Always a treat.Vx:11

I have finished doing the airing cupboard. It took about 2 hours! I had to go and get another plastic box from the shed and clean it to store the spare pillows in. I rearranged it all, but I only managed to get rid of a cushion and a cover which will go in a donation bag. I thought the towels smelled a bit musty so I washed them and they are hanging up to dry indoors as it has been raining all day here. I have to remember to rotate them rather than just using the top ones each time.
I used up the end of two air fresheners, a can of shaving gel and the last of a bottle of febreeze and it is rubbish collection day tomorrow, luckily. My Fitbit says I have done almost 10,000 steps today, that would be from mostly walking up and down the stairs, I think.

You can tell when I am being lazy/feeling glum because I don’t post daily 😔 So tomorrow I am going to buck up & be a rabbit & start making an effort to do at least one thing 🙂 Monday was a mainly dry day. The sum total of my endeavours was to finish knitting a third beanie (nos 2 & 3 are pictured below)
Although the one on the right looks small, I knit very loosely & it stretches a good deal 😉 Fourth one is nearly finished 🙂 DH & I recently signed up to H*l*o F*esh & our first box was delivered. Very exciting - bit expensive but far cheaper than a takeaway 😊 Last night DH & I cooked the first one together - breadcrumbed chicken in burger buns with honeyed bacon & spicy mayonnaise, bang bang cucumber & potato wedges. Delicious & the only thing that was not included was an egg. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed it & were absolutely stuffed. Wudupa. I watched an Arnie film last night (Aftermath) - plenty wrong with the film but who knew Arnie can actually act 😉 Tuesday is a miserably wet & dark day & will be my last day of just knitting 🤞 Tomorrow the plan is to deal with post, pay CC bill & sort finances then start writing the C…. cards.

Great idea from TC77 & confirmed by Floss - before & after photos will definitely prove to oceanspirit that her decluttering is making a difference 👏
Excellent decluttering 2Scratters 👏 combined with time spent with family & the paid stuff means you had a busy weekend 👏 How exciting - packing for a holiday 😀 & I am impressed that you are packing with an eye to bringing back less than you go away with 👏
Siebrie, potentially ‘exciting’ times ahead 🤞 as well as lots of disruption 😬 You have made an excellent start on emptying the downstairs ready for the Constructor’s visit 👏 I really did hear the exasperation in your voice 😔 Hopefully your husband will think better of his ‘decision’ & put a remedial 2nd coat on the beams 🤞🤞 Shame about the Constructor but with his attitude to finances & the rules I do not find it difficult to believe that his workmanship would have been shoddy as well 🙁 Mind you the silver lining is that it does mean your husband has absolutely no reason not to do the 2nd coat of paint on the beams 😉 Hopefully your Architect can source a Constructor asap 🤞
Now that is what I call excellent pottering GrannyKate 👏 Also well done on the extra bit of cash 🙂
Excellent decluttering roundtuit 👏 I find it very therapeutic sorting out CS bags 😉 As to retrieving one solitary, single book - I will let you off 🤣 What a beautiful & moving poem 😊 Oh wow roundtuit, those shelves are wonderfully sparse 👏 one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way.
Good work oceanspirit 👏
Excellent work Wednesday2000 👏 Good luck with the drying 🍀 I am sure you will soon get into the swing of using the heated airer 🙂 Due to my small kitchen & no covered outdoor space I have a washer/dryer but my first resort is always to use the whirligig & am trying to get into the habit of washing ‘heavy’ clothes first to get the maximum amount of drying time when the weather is good. I agree that roundtuit’s cupboard looks so much better - she has tamed her TARDIS 👏 Excellent work on the airing cupboard - sounds like 2 hours well spent 👏 Love the extra decluttering you managed to do 😊
Great work short_bird 👏
vulpix, I am sure you will find another use for the top hat 😉 Fingers crossed that you can finally swap out the large bin 🤞Very pleased to hear that you are feeling better & that has translated into becoming a demon cleaner 👏
Hope everyone is having a good day 😊

On a brighter note the bi-fold door left in the front garden has been taken. And I've finished knitting the second draught excluder cover - which I'm pleased with - came out better than the first one!
DS is out tonight so I'll be having a night in on the sofa with the cat & a G&T!
