Morning all xx
I enjoyed my Read A Book Day with a sprinkling of Strictly yesterday. Kept reading until I finished the book. So:
Book - cs 😊
I'm still feeling stressed, but I'm not making any decisions about work until I'm due to go back on Tuesday. Hoping I'll have bounced back by then. 🤞
Back to the contents of the cupboard:
Box - bin (can't recycle as it's reinforced with plastic! It's a lovely box. Justin really, really wanted to keep it. So I tore the corners - which is why I know it's reinforced with plastic...ouchie! Bin!)
Now for the notebooks - just the ones that were on / in the bottom of the cupboard....baby steps 😉
Cute post its / shopping list pad / to do list pad - put with calendar
Small clipboard- keep
Spare to do pad - keep
4 notebooks - keep
3 notebooks - (are you sitting down?) CS! 😱 And they're not the bog standard utilitarian notebooks! They're really nice notebooks but .....they are plain pages, not lined, and so they can go. Well that was easier than I thought it was going to be.
Photo of cupboard as it was and as it is now to follow. It's still a WIP though. Top shelf to do next.
I can feel you all cheering me on.
Thank you ❤

Now
Now for the shelf.
A brew and breakfast first though

I've removed everything from the shelf.
The only thing that can go straight in the bin is the paper band from a pack of envelopes.
And once again I'm wondering: how on earth did ALL THAT fit in there?
I'll get dressed before I begin the sort.

Yesterday I was starting to make my way downstairs (washing had been thrown down, I had a heavy bag with my laptop, book etc - everything I might need and 2 bags of recycling). Thought I heard a knock at the door. No-one there but a man and van working next door (finally something's happening) said 'he went round the back'. Recognised DS2's car and by the time I turned round he was in.
I'm still getting a monthly junk mailout from his bank (8 years since he was living here). I've been told just to put them in recycling. Received one recently and as I was putting it in the paper bag, I thought it felt different. They've sent a replacement card here. I put it in my everyday bag with my own letters (envelopes and junk into recycling) and brought it upstairs intending to put it in my best (one and only) handbag to take along last Sunday. I also planned to take any presents I'd already bought, which didn't happen and I couldn't find the card.
The day after it turned up again and I put it at the back of my wallet behind my own cards (the little so and so would not escape me again. On Friday I unpacked the huge box of paperwork from the broken box (it's only in the box to make sure it doesn't start cascading off the bed) a little at a time, trying to find the things I needed to sort either my bus pass or mum's council tax (new bill arrived but still have the unclaimed refund letter). Found the bus pass and PIP paperwork so set off - remembered the card (not taking an unsigned bank card out of the house with me. Pulled it out and put it with the paperwork (one of several small piles).
Had messaged DS2 and he turned up unannounced. I was frantically searching through all the piles of paperwork for the card and he was telling me off "Why hadn't I done x,y,z? Why hadn't I told him about the card sooner?" If he'd messaged to say he was coming, I'd have prioritised finding the card. Well by the time he left, I was flustered and upset. The house was a complete mess and I know he'll only have noticed all the things I still have to do, knowing nothing of what I have done (17 bags sorted, about a dozen bags of rubbish, recycling and donations out this week and last and a day and a half sorting out the under stairs shelves with fairy lights so that the newly sorted tools and diy bits could go back there.
Pretty soon after that it became apparent that the cold was back and my lip salve and the toilet roll for my nose were my best buddies all afternoon and I was happy to get back to my bed. Some things did get done but I'll add them in to today's total later.
The minute I started to look for my phone this morning, I found the card. I've messaged DS2 (will cut card up and dispose of it) and he's apologised - Why would you travel 13.7 miles each way without checking that the person you're going to see is even in the house? When I took the sheets off the bed for washing, part of the mattress cover was exposed, so I think I'm going to toddle to Will Co and get a bottle of stain remover from the rug doctor accessories range (found a couple that might be useful a fortnight ago and seem fairly simple to use). If I'm spending money I'll have a browse for solutions/ temporary fixes for another couple of household snags. I think I'm going to adopt the 'do it now' strategy for pre-Christmas clean up, might be ill again before then and lose more progress. Only things that have been exposed, not going to go around looking for things to do.

I posted on here a while ago about finding some of my old wedding bits (old... I got married last year!) and what to do with them. Well. Simple little me forgot that the names I'd stuck on the champagne glasses would easily peel off if they were submerged in hot water, so I did that this morning and put them through the dishwasher. I'll take them to the charity shop at some point. The flower hoops I thought long and hard about and realised that realistically I'll never use them and have nowhere to store them so plan to put them on facebook market place. The greenhouse we had for our cards https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/socker-greenhouse-white-70186603/ - this style - still needs to be considered for a home but I do want to keep it and plan to put my succulents in it over the winter. And I've finally contacted someone about getting my wedding dress cleaned, not a declutter there either but at least that balls rolling XD£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January11
