I'm awarding myself a point for all the stuff I took to the solicitor's and I think I should get one for organising my brother into going (he's ECV, will die if he gets COVID and rarely leaves the house - walks the dog at 4 am when there's no-one around) as his daughter deals with nearly everything for him (and I do the rest). So 503/ 2022.7

4036-4039: rubbish bags and mixed recycling to downstairs bins on Thursday
4040-4035: items to bin
4036-4043: more stuff to recycling including duplicate pension related booklets.
4044: life maintenance task ticked off.
1 folder to find then I can crack on with the paper sorting part of my tax and see what's missing: looks like the repaired printer isn't going to be back for a week but I can herd the info I have and put together a spreadsheet of incomings and tax paid.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks

Friday was a mainly dry day. DH had booked his 4th Covid vaccination - Bo*ts, Canary Wharf so I took the opportunity to accompany him & dealt with a couple of frogs. Found a new bank to pay in PB win cheques (my usual bank closed in July 🙁) + booked an opticians appointment (at least 18 months late) 😱 DH had his vaccination - no side effects 🤞 I popped into M+S & treated us to a lasagne, a garlic baguette & a focaccia 🙂 Home on bus having been out for less than 2 hours 🙂 Lastly I descaled the kettle & the shower head - yippee 1st time in ages that I managed Mantra 1 🥳 Dinner was sausages, mash, baked beans & chopped tomatoes. Wudupa. Almost forgot to mention I made soup with lo hm gravy from our roast dinner & a bag of frozen home roasted vegetables.
Saturday has started dry & bright - a lovely autumn day with a chilly breeze.
1588 - 1590 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, cardboard packaging - recycled
1591 Kitchen detritus - binned
Hope the weather remained fine & that you managed to get your gardening done Liverpool_Anne 🤞
grandmanerd, hopefully now you have added to next door’s ‘junkyard’ someone will come & clear it as well as sorting out the house - before it becomes completely uninhabitable. What a great neighbour you are - clearing weeds & rubbish 😇 not only protecting your home but your neighbour’s home. If the person nominally in charge is not doing anything, it might be time to get the local council involved - perhaps a letter from an official source might get the ball rolling 🤞Thank you so much for sharing your life - you are an amazing woman & I feel privileged that you have allowed us a glimpse into your life. Your approach to life reminds me of the old adage that ‘we have 2 ears & only one mouth’ - perhaps if more people acted in that manner the problems of the world would not be quite so daunting. So sorry - that was a bit dark 😔 You have reminded me that with self awareness comes growth as a person, thank you.
Great work bit_by_bit 👏 Good luck with your sales - may they be swift, copious & lucrative 🍀
weenancy, well done on dealing with frogs 👏 I am very gratified to hear that all your hard work is bearing fruit - it sounds as if many people are cottoning on to the excellent work you are doing ☺️ Please stay safe next week & I hope after the heat you get a decent & useful amount of rain 🤞
TC77, well done on resisting FOMO and in such a gracious manner 👏 Good luck with sorting out the paperwork 🍀
basketcase, Thanks for such a succinct & useful critique of “30 Days to a Clean and Organized House” I will watch your progress with interest 🙂 with a view to buying the book 😉
Liverpool_Anne, sounds like a very successful & busy day gardening 👏 with the added bonus of topping up your Vitamin D levels ☺️ Love the comment “Prepare for the worst and anything less is a bonus” - I had never heard this before so I have learnt something new 🙂 Hope you have no side effects from the jab 🤞
What a brilliant & informative post grandmanerd 👏☺️ I have taken the ‘liberty’ of copying it as a Notes file & will transcribe relevant portions into my Decluttering notebook 🙂 The last paragraph is especially useful & because you have taken the time to share your knowledge & experience I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 Hopefully the repaired printer will be back soon 🤞

Afternoon all
Dog stuff, bags, ties, books, ornaments, stuff lying around, photos, household, boxes, clothes, cds, knitting kit, a van (!), general rubbage, frogs this lot has taken me to 500 exactly
Very pleased with that. All stuff that wouldn't have probably been sorted let alone chucked out/set free for others to love (depending on the item)
Definitely a bit empty space appearing in odd places.
Thanks to all for encouragement, big squishy hugs to those that require them

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger don’t worry - my opticians appointment is very overdue and I still haven’t got round to booking it. That’s what happens as I always put everyone else first and I never get to any of the stuff I need to do for myself.
Finally finished the humongous work frog this week, but it’s been a struggle as have the cough, cold virus thing from DS. As usual (because I don’t sleep much), it hits me harder and worse because I was working so hard. Trying to recuperate this weekend, but took DS to gymnastics this morning and regretted it a bit as felt awful as soon as I drove there.
So surprisingly a few things out this week due to using things up or just things I came across naturally when putting the odd thing away. Got loads of house tasks to catch up on now and inbox out of control again.

@basketcase As long as you pay tax, if you sign up for gift aid with the charity shop you donate to, they can claim the tax back & it can be used in a tax return (if you do them). You can sign up to more than one charity too.

@grandmanerd Please keep things like divorce papers, grave papers etc for future generations to piece together their family history.Hi FlossThanks for getting back. Donating money via Gift Aid I know about, I was talking about goods. I did a quick google and found this - which is from 2012 but possibly still applies..."Unfortunately for the charity, when you donate goods and other items for them to sell, such donations do not qualify for Gift Aid relief, as it only applies to gifts of money. It is possible, however, for a charity to act as an agent for you by selling goods on your behalf, in the hope that you then donate the proceeds from the sales to the charity. If the donation of the eventual sale proceeds is made in this way, then the charity will qualify for a tax refund of 25% of the net donation.
You can include a deduction for the amount donated plus the 25% received by the charity (the gross amount) in your tax return. You will receive a further 20% tax relief either in the tax year you make the donation, or the year before if you choose to claim relief in the preceding tax year.
Initially, we recommend you speak to your local charity shop to see if they will actually sell the goods on your behalf. Most charities do usually operate this scheme for items that are donated for sale, and they must write to you after the sale to confirm that you wish to treat the proceeds received as a donation to their charity.
Under this scheme, you reserve the right to keep all or part of the proceeds of the sale, so the charity must keep a record of the items they sell on your behalf. They may ask you to complete a Gift Aid declaration before the sale (in anticipation of the proceeds being gifted to them) and if so, the wording of that declaration must not commit to you making a donation, as you must retain a choice of whether or not to gift the proceeds."
I'd not heard of this before, and it sounds like an awful faff.

You can now gift aid goods, Cancer Research and Scope have both signed up and I get letters letting me know how much my goods have sold for and what they’ve been able to claim in gift aid. I had the paperwork come through from
