Just checking in as have been watching TV like many I guess. I am aware this all took reporters by surprise (why she was 96?) but appalled at the general level of ignorance about Scottish history and geography. I did like the succinct comment from a military man yesterday when asked about planning for the funeral and it being wet - he said ‘the wet weather plan will have been to get wet’. I suspect that whilst Royal family and government had a plan for coverage the TV companies never even really considered that HM might die in Scotland.
Major plumbing issue as I realised there was a serious leak in airing cupboard which was why the kitchen door next to it wouldn't shut properly and the hall flooring was raised as water seeping under laminate. Decided to go via insurance company - DS2 did his best to stem the flow but plumber didn't arrive until 10pm last night. Lovely chap but he was knackered. Took about half an hour to replace pipe and then he had an hour's drive home. Quite a bit of damage to flooring and what is probably busiest doorway in the place (bungalow) so will see what insurance company have to say about that today. Half a dozen soaking wet towels in washing machine but hopefully they will dry outside today.
DD back from holiday and has to go to London for 2 days. She has train and hotel booked but she wasn't sure how things would be. Need some petrol but otherwise at home most of day so will try and do some jobs rather than watch TV. Day in Lincoln tomorrow with castle tour but will need to get back early for school run. I have booked hair appointment but have to wait until next week.
1085 General very wet oddments from bottom of airing cupboard - bits of foam lagging, pipe etc to bin
1086 DS2 made apple pies from some of apples DS1 brought over from his tree
1087 Paddling pool and accessories emptied and cleaned and drying out under gazebo
1088 Used up a box of mixed Indian food for tea.

Morning Peeps,
@QueenJess how frugal is that pencil holder? I too am sure I may have one knocking about. They really would have had to make thinks last too. Thank you for sharing - every day is a school day.
The outdoor cushions have been put back in the loft about a week ago and I did not move the chairs. Hoping today will dry them out and they can be covered up for winter. Freezer contents list updated and re written and placed back on the door. This really has been very helpful in moving stuff out. Internally will need another tidy into like with like if I make time today.
Glasses taken back to shop to change the lenses to bi focal, just can't do the varifocals. Very pushy man wanted me to buy another pair of frames! what? when it took me ages to find these and they were more than what he was suggesting/pushing to purchase (don't get me wrong the ones on my face are very cost effective) yet it would have been cheaper than changing the lenses as requestedI didn't have the inclination to argue with him and just stuck to what I wanted to happen smile:
Did my barbers trip to have my hair cut.
Labelled up a new cable with what it is for and for which item as it is not likely to be used for another 2 years.
Pair of work shoes binned as unable to be repaired and let in water. I have made them last the summer. So onto another pair of black shoes from the stock that need using up.
Refilled the shampoo dispenser with a cost effective on and we finish with a reasonably decent conditioner. I am working our way onto bar soap shampoo.
2 bags of plastic to be dropped off at SM later.
Bag of bits for CS to be dropped off on the same run.
Off to check with "adopted big sister" neighbour to purchase a pre owned item I need and she has 3 of, this will help with her overstock of items too.
Take care all - spend some time in the TLC carriage chilling/recharging batteries watching some TV of our Queen if you fancy.
2 Scratters xx

Hi chums
Tc77 horrible to get an email like that. I hope you rise above it and get an apology.Siebrie. Good for you about divorce. Very sad but it will be his loss long term.Yesterday was rain all day. Had a visit from the bathroom fitter. Sooooo many decisions to make. Builder has finally cut the stone away to reposition the bathroom window. The very thick stone wall put up a spirited fight. He is making good on the inside today. We went and ordered lots of wood for DSS makes.Today DSS took the roof off the sentry box to refelt it and found the wood was rotten. Luckily we had a piece of ply left from the giant shed insulation. Sentry box almost revamped ready for me to paint it. Next job is to make a net type thing to fit the back of the shed to stop leaves and animals falling in. The wall the sheds are against is the retaining wall for the disused lane. It has a 70’ angle in it. The sheds are level at the front but a big gap at the back.If time I would like a carved wood Indian screen fixing to the wall behind our bed as a bed head. I would like a tiny bit cutting off our bedroom door but that may have to wait. Oh yes also more trellis to put up and bird boxes to put up. Oh re felt the roof of the cat kennel that me n Mr V made in lockdown. That took us a week solid to make. 🤣I am about to make meatballs and sauce for tea then going to craft club. Mr V is on fetching and carrying duty and brewing up duty. The no recipe banana loaf and chocolate pear sponge are ok. Interesting with the added rose flavour.Nothing much leaving apart from off cuts of wood for our neighbours fire. Oh actually we gave her a large piece of oak worktop the other day. Sadly it had warped in the shed.Enjoy your time in the TLC carriage Mrs SD.Vx:8 -
A book-buying ban - that is like trying not to breathe. Impossible.
This has been a big decluttering day - Twenty large items for the bulky pick-up collection and 18 for the electronics pick-up are out waiting to be collected. And the trash bins are out for the week. Of course, it doesn't really look like we made a dent in junk around here - but it was a start. We can get three bulky item pick-ups free a year and 1 electronic pick-up. Usually you can't get them at the same time, but the days matched up this week. So lots out to go away. This is book sale week again also - so gathering up paper bags and plastic bags for the sale.8 -
Sorry to hear about the divorce Siebrie but as others have said, his loss not yours.weenancy, I may console myself with creating a list of books to read and then set about eventually tracking them down second hand in charity shops etc.✒️ Declutter 2025 🏅👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Hi all. I snook off to wales but now back. On the way I returned the seat and back cushion for a mobiity scooter to a gentleman I picked up off the road a few months ago. He literally tipped off the footpath as I was driving towards him. He was very grateful but didn't need them. He has a better model now that should manage the adverse camber of the footpaths near him.
I also delivered a full bag for life of bras to a friend who is passing them on to a rape prevention project overseas. (thankyou @vulpix)
I have been a bit low in mood due my blood pressure which is through the roof, difficult DiL and MiL having a TIA.
MiLs TIA was confirmed today after a scan and she is on new meds and doing well. She is so lucky to be ok just now. She could have killed herself and FiL driving down from Manchester last week. DiL2 did a fab job cleaning her kitchen last week. An arrangment to help her and myself.
My own BP meds have been increased but in other news I am not pre diabetic anymore and my cholestrol has gone down.
Things were fine with DiL1 today. She has sent me an itinerary which the baby won't stick to but I will do my best. My friends tell me the list is the norm these days.
So after my little sneaky break with friends and things getting back to an even keel I feel better back to normal again.
From Septemeber I have started the next phase in my life which I knew would come even before I retired. It will include care of In Laws, grandchildren and generally clearing, decluttering. I expect it to last until the grandkiddies go to schooI then things will change again. Part of that agenda is self care though so I will be delegating and working on my own physical health.

Plenty of sterling work going on here on the thread. Every little thing helps. Or big things in your case weenancy.Pleased to see you are on the case with your health bit by bit. You have a lot on your plate, and the patience of a saint.DSS eating frogs 🐸 at great pace. Bird boxes and more trellis put up. Lots of drilling in the studio I know not what. Cat house re felted. Door knobs put on. Curtain pole shortened. Still to do, somehow put the Indian screen on the wall without drilling holes in it. Put a picture up on the stairs. Put part of the screen in the loft. I am sure there is much more but I think he is getting to the end of his enthusiasm now!
I am so grateful.Builders are plastering round the bath room window today. I really hope that the scaffolding goes soon. I have asked them to do a few snagging jobs before they go as they have a big ladder. Take down the fake burglar alarms and take a wire down that is across the gable end which has both ends cut. I have asked for the memorial stone to be moved. It just isn’t right where it is just now. They are also going to cut me a piece of stone to cover the kitchen drain. All the above has been clogging up my brain and now I can fester about other things 🤣
I am still incredulous that things are still presenting themselves to be ousted. I honestly thought we had cut our belongings down to the bone when we moved here last year. It wasn’t as if we had hoarding tendencies, we had the space so never questioned whether we actually needed to keep stuff. When I am finished and clutter free I will have a big party and you all can come! 😂😂 don’t rearrange your diary, it may take some time. 🤣
