Ps. Hi Cynical, welcome aboard.:6
-
In just to say a quick hi. I have a had a severe dose of flu but DH and DD have also been ill with more internal matters. MiL was a a gem and supplied our needs.
Welcome to @CynicalPinnacle Excellent name
@Vascodakarma You are amazing. It must have been so tough getting to this point. I hope the next step (after your 'holiday') is smooth and more permanent. If you haven't got one you may want to get a library card while you still have an address. You will be really living very MSE.
So I have actually got rid of two bags of stuff to a friend from my old business for a bit of cash plus I am going to add a bag for all the sales I have had over the last few weeks. Nothing else done but when better the house will need sterilising I think.
I had a moment at the weekend where I chucked an item on nice clear bathroom floor, temporarily, but boy did it make me miserable while it was there after getting the place so tidy. I didn't expect that as I am so used to clutter.
I will be back in a few days when my energy levels return.

Oh wow, Vulpix that's gorgeous!
I've had to have a whole bed of himalayan balsam (persicaria) dug out as it was the only way to get rid.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedOops haven’t posted for 2 days & not because I have been busy just lazy 😔 Tuesday was a mainly sunny day. DH picked up DSis’s cabinet. Then out again for a small sm shop. Dinner was sausages, mash, beans & chopped tomatoes. Wudupa.
Wednesday was mainly overcast but dry & warm. Rejigged DH’s wardrobe & listed contents in my notebook + dealt with my post & went through cardboard box collection. Dinner was pork steaks, mash, cauliflower & carrots. Wudupa.
Thursday is a bright, sunny & warm day. DH & DSis have built her new cabinet & it is fixed to the wall + has a hole drilled for a plug - (not a bedside one as I thought 😉) She has rearranged her room & it fits perfectly 👏

GrannyKate, the TLC Carriage is the perfect place to try to ride out the current storm. Keeping everything crossed that the family crisis gets resolved without too much rancour 🤞 Great decluttering 👏Good work RamblersTrail 👏 Project laminate flooring sounds exciting 🙂 - hope it causes no problems 🤞 Enjoy the decluttering videos 😉
Hope your parents annual inspection isn’t too stressful Deni_debt-free_dreamer 😉 Enjoy your new blinds 🙂
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 Fingers crossed the electrician turns up 🤞
Excellent work on the under stairs cupboard mhagster 👏 especially as I remember your initial shock when you opened it 😉 Well done on coping with the onslaught of unexpected but lovely memories ☺️ As to the books, they do have a habit of hiding themselves away 🙂EnergyShifter, very pleased to hear that you are on the mend 🙂 Sorry to hear that your DS is having a hard time but relieved that his dad is laying the blame firmly at his new wife’s door. A big conversation but at least DS will be safe with you. Great decluttering 👏Very easy to get behind TC77 😉 Well done on dealing with frogs 👏
Great suggestion TripleH 🙂
Siebrie, I see you are getting your friends on board with the decluttering 👏 Pleased that you have managed to save some money by taking out a few items for you & your DDs 🙂 Well done on dealing with the insurance frog, even it wasn’t the outcome you desired 😔 One medal 🏅 coming your way for the dish washer repair 👏 I love your plan of action for your afternoons - decluttering with rewards built into the schedule 🙂You have been busy Liverpool_Anne 👏 Can the ironing pile be reduced by shaking & folding? 😉 Good luck with the Physics books - perhaps they can be sold 🍀
Good work short_bird 👏
TC77, Great ideas for mhagster’s plates 🙂
Sounds like awful weather mhagster but at least the garden is getting watered 😉 Excellent decluttering - I was exhausted just reading about it & all that on top of a morning’s work 👏
Good work EnergyShifter 👏
Excellent & copious decluttering nannywindow 👏 Well done on biting the bullet re shoe shopping 🙂 Like you I need a half size when I buy footwear 😔 Hope vampire nurse doesn’t take too much 😉Welcome aboard The EDT, CynicalPinnacle 👋 Lovely to see a new face & with such an interesting name 🙂 Once the decluttering is under way you will notice that cleaning/tidying does become easier 🙂 You might even be able to get your 5 year old on board with the decluttering & once done perhaps a bit of training in keeping things tidy 😉 Looking forward to hearing about yoursuccessful decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering Siebrie 👏 & good news that the Tip is free 😉 The weasel was obviously hungry 🙃 Fascinating & interesting reading about how schooling works in different countries & I must admit to thinking a great choice - academic or hands-on. Although I am not too sure I would have known which way to go at age 13 (?) I am curious to know that if DD1 did some extra academic work could she get back on track to be a kindergarten teacher?Nice to see you Vascodakarma 🙂 but sorry to hear that you are losing your home ☹️ Like oceanspirit I love your attitude to the situation 👏 I am keeping everything crossed that Housing Options can find you a suitable property without having to put you into temporary accommodation first 🤞 You have definitely come a long way since your previous incarnation & should be so proud of yourself 🙂 Good luck with your next auction 🍀
GrannyKate nice to know that you have a project to sink your teeth into 🙂 it will be a welcome distraction from the family crisis 🤞
oceanspirit, very relieved that you are OK 🥲 Life is being particularly unkind to you & I really wish that I could offer more than just virtual support. Please try to take a bit of time away from the cleaning 🙏 and please, please take frequent rests. Thanks for that Siebrie 👏
vulpix, there is certainly quite a lot of ‘misfortune’ doing the rounds 😔 Like you I really do dislike obstructive jobsworths 😖 & end up responding in kind 😔 Very impressed that you politely declined to continue the ‘conversation’ 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏 Can the Himalayan Balsam be reported online to avoid the chance of speaking to the same woman?bit_by_bit, sorry to hear that flu has laid you low ☹️ but how fortunate to have a caring MIL 🙂“Amazing” is definitely the word to describe Vascodakarma ☺️ Good decluttering despite only just starting to recover 👏 All your hard work has changed your mindset - you are no longer accepting your clutter because you ‘see it’ rather than the clutter fading into the background 🙂
vulpix, I am definitely with Floss - Gorgeous ☺️ as well as charming & idyllic ☺️ Good photography as well 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️I AM A STAR 🌟

26/52 - present posted and packaging used up.
27/52 - DH cleared a number of DIY remnants out of our conservatory to the bin.
28/52 - DH cleared out several whisky bottle cardboard packages to recycling. They had been taking up space on a shelf for years for no reason, especially as the bottles themselves were on the shelf right next to them.7 -
And for today…
A busy wee shift at new work and I could quite easily have said nah to going round but it still still be there and no one else to do it.DD2 feeling poorly and off work so dog kept her company so I didn’t need to take him.So three bags of rubbish to tip ( literally made appointment 10 minutes before)
Four drawers and I’ll take the carcass tomorrow. This is drawer number one of three in wee room.More blooming small electrical stuff ( surely to goodness it’s nearly all done?)
Pile of paper/card.Then back to mums filled my boot ( which is tiny) with boxes of photos I’ll keep and have already sorted through. And 15 books to supermarket. There are only two piles left. Hurrah! And I cleared the spare bed. Have not seen the top of it in years. There’s a quilted throw that was on my granny’s bed that came from America many years ago. So I’m just going to carefully wash that and put it outside for a blow.Pulled about 60 weeds. Doing it in lots of 20s.And I can see more gaps than there ever were before so I am getting there! I am!11 -
@vulpix your garden looks amazing! Well done! I have garden envy. 😊
Behold…..my bath panel is finished and in situ! It’s also currently free (the Gentleman Carpenter has declined to bill us for materials or labour as it’s taken so long. However we shall rectify that it one way or another). The bathroom is also now back in the bathroom! We decluttered the crates as we restocked the bathroom as they’ve been packed up for yonks and there were dregs in bottles.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Decluttering has continued over the last few days. Took a computer keyboard and a bicycle to our local Repair Cafe. I was donating them, they will refurb the bike and check the keyboard then sell the bike at an affordable price and donate the keyboard.
Both were DD3's but she isn't able to take them so I did. They were only in my house for 24 hours as I'm really keeping on top of all this.
Garden bin out tonight, full of sawn up tree branches and bamboo clumps. V satisfying.
Load of cardboard packaging into the recycle bin, again in and out, not lingering while I wonder if it might come in handy. I already have a number of boxes etc in the conservatory which I am using up as I sell things.
House generally cleaner as the clutter goes and I feel less demoralised.6
