Thanks guys 🙏☺️ I have a healthy amount of detachment about the whole thing. It was going to happen anyway at some point, I knew I couldn’t stay in this house forever and i’m not going to end up on the streets. I’d rock being in a homeless shelter 😎One thing I learnt at the beginning of the pandemic was not to stress about things that were beyond my control. I’m not sure I’ve got used to the idea of living in one place for the rest of my life but I love living in hotels -I’m tidy, minimalist and focussed! I’m more mindful in planning my time 😃 I know of a seafront bed and breakfast for £120 a week if the worst comes to the worst 😉😂
Keep decluttering. Life’s a lot simpler 😃11 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedFriday is hot, hot, hot 🥵 Wrote a shopping list for DH & sent him off to MrS. Whilst he was out I went through the 3 bin liners of clothes that my DSis turfed out of her room. I am now the proud owner of 9 very nice T-shirts & a waterproof jacket (long enough to cover my bottom 😉) The 3 bin liners are still full but have one full of summer/autumn clothing and jeans & two with specifically winter clothing. Will phone & check which CS are accepting donations & drop off the summer clothes early next week. The other bags will be dropped off later in the year. There is also a carrier bag classified as RAG bag. DH was rather annoyed when he got back from MrS 😖 - he uses the hand scanner thingy & on Tuesday he was stopped for an audit which would have been OK but the poor young (untrained) girl managed to clear down the scanner so everything had to go to through the till 😖 The reason for his annoyance today was that he was again stopped for an audit - twice in 4 days seems a bit excessive - fortunately the audit was done properly today 😉 Everything has been put away. DH is still tidying his office with a view to emptying it & re-carpeting when we return from holiday.1060 - 1061 Office & kitchen recycling
1062 Office detritusbit_by_bit, congratulations on the weight loss but as you say not really a nice way to go about it 😔Please pace yourself at the allotment 🙏 How lovely - baby hedgehog potentially ☺️vulpix, hardly a crime to make such an observation & no way the woman should have taken it in any other way 🤔 especially not to the extent that she now has you doubting yourself. I would definitely make a complaint - if an innocuous comment can stop her doing her job then she needs retraining. Remember, you are probably not the only person she has upset. A gravel shortage 🙄 Sorry to hear that the colour is a disappointment but at least you can vent a little by attacking theHimalayan Balsam 😉
mhagster, I think you should definitely count completing a working week as decluttering 😉 Excellent decluttering - your mum’s house must be nearly sorted now 👏Permission to board granted purplepumpkin_2 👋 Didn’t realise we were so famous 😉 Sorry to hear that you have had Covid, please take the time to recover completely 🙏 You have made a great start especially as you have joined the ranks of stationery lovers ☺️ The fact that you have already planned your decluttering counts as number 6 👏 so a great start on your decluttering campaign 👏 There are various methods of decluttering but little & often seems to be a popular approach to decluttering, as well as the whenever you enter a room either put away an item or remove/relocate it. I for one am looking forward to hearing about all your successes - remember every item out is a win 🙂
Excellent work Deni_debt-free_dreamer 👏 That is all I need to read about - sneaky cardboard boxes hiding 😉Vascodakarma, you constantly amaze me 😻 Your attitude to life is a source of inspiration - thank you 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️I AM A STAR 🌟

Bit of paperwork decluttered today, some shredded & leaflets returned.
Did a bit of work on the vintage tool box, if I can manage to work on one layer a day I should have it completed soon. Light sanding with fine sandpaper (to be found in the garage), wiped down with white spirit (big bottle already found in the garage), treated with woodworm killer, then waxed. The wax is also from "old stores" but fine, have tested it.
My plans to search for various supplies in the garage this evening came to naught as I had three phone calls in succession from different children needing to talk through their problems. So hopefully decluttered some of their stress.7 -

730. Shredding
731. Garden storage box assembled
732. Old garden storage box (broken)
733. Carpet protector
734. Garden debris
735-7 3 x pairs shoes (I'm having to be more realistic about what I can wear these days given my dodgy knee)
738 & 9 - 2 x refillable pens
740 - returned something faulty to TK Maxx - I had to be quite persistent as the manager wasn't listening to me properly - item was miscut but he thought I was returning it because there were threads on it so couldn't see the very obvious miscut. Anyhoo we both stayed calm and pleasant and got there in the end.
Vasco - I'm sorry you are having to deal with that situation AND you are truly an inspiration in how you are dealing with it.
Vulpix - your garden is so beautiful (& so is your cat!)
Mrs SD - Yay re: Premium Bonds win
Floriana - lovely bath panel !
Love to all - hugs to those who need them

Thank you all for being so welcoming. My decluttering attempts have been derailed by a seemingly benign but tenacious energy zapping virus. It's the type where you don't feel ill enough to take time off to have a proper rest but you're just a bit too tired to do anything useful. I also got side tracked by doing a Jack Monroe style stocktake of our food; we still have the dregs of a Brexit/Covid stockpile. Which led me to discover that I own 6 different types of vinegar and not one of them would I put on chips, and a couple of duplicates to boot. So, there's clearly work to do!Here's what I did manage to get rid of:
- Tofu, well past use by date - Bin
- Homemade beef ragu 1kg, frozen
- Beef mince, 500g, frozen - I went veggie last year and DH can't eat these all by himself so offered up and delivered to a neighbour via our whatsapp group
- M&S seeded crackers, tasted grim when fresh and I forgot to seal them up - Bin
- Toothpaste tubes, sweet wrappers, pill blister packs, cheese wrappers - Local Terracycle point.
I really need to list the pushchair, co-sleeping crib and various other baby bits on ebay or FB and return a few internt orders too.7 -
Hello Pp2,welcome.Thank you for the kind comments about the back garden and Fomo the cat. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted it to look like. All the plants I brought from my last house are green and white. Next year it will have that lush jungle feel once every thing is established. You can see the supporting wall for the disused lane or top garden as I sometimes call it.I pulled up all the Himalayan balsam I could see yesterday. There is some in the shanty town and I think some in the wood. Neither of which belongs to me.I also planted up the front garden with pink and purple plants which have been sitting in pots for a year. More work needed there. Cut back an existing honeysuckle, paint the shed, put a trellis up. I am getting used to the colour of the gravel. That’s the trouble when you have a fixed idea in your mind. Several plants thrown out as they were too sickly from living too long in a pot. Several pots earmarked to either give away or go to the tip as they are frost damaged.I am as stiff as a board today. I was in the garden till 10pm last night.Today is local town wells dressing and carnival. Mr V has long gone to set up for a disco job tonight and decorate the car to be in the carnival. I need to make a pavlova. Our neighbours are having a barbecue latter.Enjoy this lovely weather folks.Vx:6

So far today…
Doggy walk at 6am and round at mums by 6.45am. Loaded car for tip run number one, had an appointment then dropped stuff off at tip, back to mums reloaded car, ‘cancelled’ the first tip run as I was still in the time frame and couldn’t rebook and straight back down again! Then back to mums and absolutely loaded my car for a charity shop drop off!So out today : three chests of drawers are gone, a coffee table my brother made about 40 years ago that was just loaded with stuff and had been hidden for years. The tiles all fell off as I took it downstairs so I’m just going back round just now to hoover it so doggy doesn’t cut paws. Some random plastic and random metal. Paper and card. A bag of textiles.Charity shop…random bric a brac , a million photo frames, pictures, mirrors. A tent. Hiking boots and I thought of how my mum used to love walking when she was able. Kitchen bits and bobs. I can’t get parked too close to this particular shop so back and forth back and forth I went and a nice chap from the butchers did offer to help but I kindly declined and went back and forth myself. Like the little red hen I am but it was just before shop opened so it passed the time. Anyway a good load of stuff out the house that’s for sure. And they’ll get gift aid and I’ve done 8000 steps already today 😆Then I went to supermarket and felt I should ring a bell at the very least…the last pile of books are gone ! Now I still have a couple of up high cupboards to get to and there may well be more books but the visible books are gone! This is a huge achievement as there were hundreds and hundreds of books. And I can see that the majority of them have been taken off the shelves so I’m hoping the wee charity tin has been getting filled with pennies when they go!Just waiting on my phone recharging then I’m going back round for an hour tops then I’m coming home and going out in my garden.Editing to say I have almost cleared one room of stuff! The wee room the room with the most stuff! Still stuff but in piles to go to tip next week once I’ve done my big work days. This is such an achievement and I’m very chuffed and very knackered! Now in garden on sofa! I may snooze!11 -
Sorry I have been MIA. have been down to Dorset house with my best friend and internet is dodgy.(No point in sorting as hopefully selling in September) Have spent an inspiring 30 minutes or so catching up.
Tackled a major FROG before I left. Realised that a few people I write to at Christmas still did not know about DH. didn't really want to get Christmas cards written to us both so I sent a round robin style letter. hate Sadmin.
Also did two drawers in the study and luckily found my new credit card(wondered why the other one had been rejected) 🤦🏼♀️
So at my MIL's old house I free cycled a hoover in the garage and a DVD player from the loft. My friend helped me go through the cupboard in the eaves. A bag to the charity shop and two boot fulls to the tip. Unfortunately a box of stuff back here as well😢 Brass and silver ornaments that I need to offer to my children and then work out if they have any moneytary value b before I decide how to dispose of them (sigh...more mess)
Returned to find P**********had finally paid me the money they owe me. Delight soon turned to dismay as cheque written "to the executors" There is only me. I am the sole beneficiary and I don't have an account that will accept the cheque. To open such an account I will have to travel to the nearest town(at least 15 miles away) Open an account solely for the purpose of paying in this cheque, only to then close the account when I pay it into the account I actually want it to go into. Why is this all so difficult 😞Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D6
