So day 3 came around and evaporated quickly, and this thread really rattles on apace. So to keep on the appropriate track this is how I've rattled along:
Day 3
* 5 ties, 3 running vests, 2 running t shirts, 1 running jumper (all to charity bag, loaded in the car and ready to go).
* 4 books ready for charity
* Mrs SJ weighed in by sorting some of her knitting/crafting drawers, so I (bravely/foolishly/naively) encouraged her to declutter some drawers. Amazingly I'm still breathing, am uninjured and a small set of 3 drawers is in the car ready for the recycling centre.
* I've also put a pair of walking shoes in the bin, but I did get a replacement pair off Father Christmas so its not quite a full declutter as there was a replacement pair arriving into the house.
* I've also removed a carrier bag of old programmes from the loft, which will be gone (somewhere).
Well done everyone. Stay strong, stay ruthlessMFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......15 -
Hello MrsSD, may I join the fabulous decluttering journey please?MrC & I are moving house this year and I don’t want to carry lots of clutter or cluttered ways of thinking into our new house! We’ll also be doing a fair amount of DIY so we don’t want to have to keep moving boxes of things we don’t really need around. We’ve done quite well in getting rid of the most obvious clutter last time we moved (2020) - things like the spiralizers and kitchen gadgets - but there is a lot more to go!I’ve got a really busy start to this year, I’m doing 3 courses through work - the first one starts tomorrow (eek!) and my driving test in about 8 weeks (double eek!) and the house buying stuff trundling along in the background (triple eek!) so I don’t want to stress myself out too much more with really big decluttering targets. I’m going to start gently :
• declutter my mind using a meditation app & getting a daily dose of vitamin d from outdoor activity
• declutter my office by purging outdated paperwork, binning pens that have run out etc
• declutter my pile of books by choosing to read instead of scrolling on my phone endlessly
• declutter the bathroom cupboard by using up all the lovely toiletries and skincare that I’ve accumulated over the last couple of years
• decluttering the house as I go, aiming for 1 thing every day (365 in the year)
• related to the above point - keeping a list (with deadline dates!) for anything I think “I just need to clean / repair / resize that and I’ll use it again!” And if I haven’t done said repairs by the deadline, it goes!I did a little bit today by :
1. recycling the boxes and paper packaging from Christmas presents - much of the packaging materials goes to a neighbour who has an eBay shop and is always on the lookout for boxes.13 -

Meanwhile, in my house:
30-31: 2 GB data off the computer.
32-50: stuff to bin or recycling including 3 cardboard widgets for posting records...
Managed another no spend day as well so that's 2/20 that I'm declaring on another board.

Impressed by everyone.
I had a wicker set of drawers awaiting collection (brought back from DD1) , and had time wasters so kept too long and then decided will fit in downstairs loo/cloakroom - v small and also acquired a small shoe rack (£5 CS) which also fits in the same room.
There is a rationale, - if I can use these spaces to organise belongings so there is more like with like as a stage before I can get rid off. at the moment in boxes, bags etc - I know I have been here for 2+ years so perhaps shouldn't be in this chaos (and 27 years in the house) !
Been doing more paperwork - scanning/printing, and couple of emails - 42 - 46
And decided that as a bank holiday don't need to start healthy eating, - too skilled at procrastinating, and thinking ahead that 12th night is really the real start to new resolutions! And realised how close it is and I may be away to take down decorations - they may have to wait.
Have to declutter my excuses.

There is so much going on in here, busy imagining you all with streamlined houses and perfectly styled cupboards
Today i decluttered the fridge, got a couple of loads of laundry out of the way and have one in ready to go tomorrow am. I think i'm going to go through the linen cupboard by Wednesday, how many painting sheets does one girl need. Got another xmas gift ( my third to last) out of the house and to its recipient so that was good.#19 Make £2025 in 2025 £8.32/£2025"Remember not to do too many things at once" said me to herself.Mortgage Free Wannabe #25 2025 OP £500/£600015 -

28 -29 items returned, including paint I already have.
30 - 36 batteries recycled - been carrying around for many weeks
37 food bank donation dropped off
38 - 40 ice cream containers recycled - kept for small things by my dad and now back with me
41 scanning and printing and some deleting as everytime I scan told no space! Have to read up what I'm doing wrong.
Only much needed food - fruit and milk bought, and going to try and work through hoard of dried and tinned food etc
Visited Lisbon many years ago (decades) but loved it and think it's become more arty and trendy. - @Vascodakarma I am in awe of the progress and change you have made to your life. Interested to know how much you think your coach helped, and what are the key things you have done/do differently?
sometimes we need more!
I lost my identity when I lost my job. Coupled with all my children flying the nest, it was a lot to process. I wasn’t happy and I couldn’t see the point, but I didn’t have anyone who I could really talk to about it, and be honest.Everything happened at the right time, this time! 😉😂😂17 -

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks.
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I forgot my weather check 😉 dry but colder than of late. I have caught up on my To Do list - 15/15 & Tuesday’s list is written 🙂 Sent DH to MrS for a top up shop - bread, milk & fresh vegetables. Dinner was a delivery of posh burgers & chips - eaten from the polystyrene boxes. Wudupa.
18 - 19 Kitchen recycling, Uu cough medicine bottle (rinsed out) - recycled
20 Kitchen detritus binned
Great work TC77 👏 Good luck with the admin frogs & sorting the scanner challenge 🍀
Lisbon sounds wonderful & right up Vascodakarma’s street 🙂 Like you I cannot praise Vascodakarma enough 👏
roundtuit I do like the cider based list 😉 More to the point what a great family you have 🥳
GrannyKate isn’t it lovely when you can just please yourself 😄 Hope DS1 & family recover quickly & you can visit for his birthday 🤞& pleased to hear that the holiday is rebooked 🙂 Great work today & thank you for reminding us of the benefits of decluttering 👏 Hopefully your local plumber can sort out the leak permanently & can be added to your list of workmen. Wonder how many customers BG have lost? Thanks for the cleaning tip balabooberlies 👏 I do have everything mentioned so will have a go over the next few days - very excited 😆
Great work florianatwobob 👏 Decluttering, exercising & a little treat 😉
Excellent work Guineapigsqueaks 👏 Good idea to put the CS box in the car 🙂
Welcome aboard The EDT marrob 👋 No need to sit in the baggage car - we recently picked up another carriage so there are plenty of seats available 🙂 No-one ever rambles on this thread (other than the walking kind 😉) what we do is write down our thoughts as they come to us 👏 Now prior to starting your 2022 decluttering campaign the only thing to do is decide your priorities 😉 Well done on your weight loss so far 👏
Excellent work nomi01 👏
Great work EnergyShifter 👏 - especially starting your accounts & then rewarding yourself with an office reorganisation 😉
Baxtersmum, well done on doing the prepping for lots of items leaving the house 👏 Btw the only class on The EDT is First Class as we ALL deserve to make our Decluttering Journey in comfort. However there is The TLC Carriage so you can be pampered a bit 🙂 Re the excess toiletries perhaps you have a homeless shelter or a womens refuge in your area.
Like the analogy nannywindow 🙂 You have been busy 👏 As to the large quantity of carrots, maybe you just wanted to improve your night vision in case of power cuts 😅
Thanks for the info newlywed 👏
Welcome aboard CatMama 👋 Very impressed that you and your husband have successfully & comprehensively decluttered your home 👏 and raised so much money 👏 You will soon learn that I am quite ‘inquisitive’ 🤣 so in that vein has the cash been earmarked for anything? As to deleting Social Media just 🤩, very brave & I am so impressed that a medal 🏅 is on its way 🙂 You & your husband have already made a great start on your garden declutter & hopefully we have a lovely summer with plenty of sunshine & only rain at night 🤞
Good work Fairy_Shazza 👏
Excellent work bit_by_bit 👏 especially returning items to your children 🙂 Remember dealing with frogs comes before sorting mess especially if they can be dealt with before they become huge frogs 😉
charlies_tribe, at least the pile is ready to go - just a case of swooping it up & disposing of it 🙂 Great work keeping up with the electronic decluttering 👏 Sorry to hear about the injury to your husband’s back ☹️ As to the storage unit hopefully you can sell most of the contents 🤞 - so emptying & dealing with it will give you two ways to improve your finances 🙂
Fairy_Shazza, Thanks for the information about Vinted 👏 Sourcing cheaper clothing to replace and/or update your wardrobe is not really against the purpose of the thread - after all you are decluttering the stress & expense of buying new + you cannot always guarantee finding what you need in a CS 🙂
Blackberrycurved, re your accounts perhaps set a timer & do one hour each day? 😉
Welcome aboard henna123 👋 What an excellent start to your decluttering campaign 👏 I am looking forward to following your decluttering journey 🙂
Welcome back skogar 👋 You will have no problem boarding The EDT - we have magic on our side & once I have said hello you are sitting comfortably in your seat with a cuppa & chatting to old & new friends 😃
Good luck with your accounts TheCraftyForager 🤞 You are doing excellent work and building good habits which will help you in your decluttering campaign 👏 You are picking up tips & methods by osmosis 🙂 - like with like, putting away rather than putting down, organising your medication so that there will be no stress when it comes to reordering 👏
We are moving fast shangaijimmy 🙂 - good job we have magic to get everyone aboard safely & comfortably 😉 Excellent work 👏 Well done on getting MrsSJ on board at the risk of life & limb 😉 Btw replacing worn out/used up items is allowed 😉 can’t have you running around barefoot - you might have smelly feet 🙃🙃🙃 apologies 😔Welcome aboard GeorgianaCavendish 👋 Sounds like you are already a successful & well organised declutterer 👏 Such a lot going on - moving house, taking driving test (good luck 🍀) & upgrading your work skills 🤩 I have noted your target - I do love a list 😉 & I am especially impressed with “decluttering the house as I go, aiming for 1 thing every day (365 in the year) • related to the above point - keeping a list (with deadline dates!) for anything I think “I just need to clean / repair / resize that and I’ll use it again!” And if I haven’t done said repairs by the deadline, it goes! “ What a great idea 👏
Good work short_bird 👏 & well done on your 2nd No Spend Day 👏
Great work TC77 👏 Another great idea that I think many of us will make use of 😉 - creating a discrete staging area using items already owned 🙂👏
SeekingFlight, don’t we just wish 🤣 & more to the point what an imagination you have - Walter Mitty eat your heart out 😂 Great work 👏 & good luck with the linen cupboard 🍀
Vascodakarma your post is so uplifting - thank you 👏
balabooberlies, SJ made me laugh too 😂MrsSD 🏅
