ref glossy kitchen cabinets. This is what I did to my Mum's (ours are about 100 years old).
I treated them like windows. Made up weak vinegar solution, sprayed them, then used that thing that looks like a windscreen wiper. It was so easy. Then buffed them with cotton teatowel which removed any leftover marks. Tiny puddles on the floor but removed quickly with mop.
Et woila !

Afternoon to all my fellow declutterers!
Today’s main decluttering achievement has been taking the plastic bags and scrunchy plastic off for recycling at one of the supermarkets who will recycle both now. This also involved a walk ‘the long way round’ into town and a stop off for brunch (last hurrah of the holidays) and a quick visit to W!lko for some
seeds and an slightly naughty upgrade to a backpack and some pj bottoms. The previous backpack will be leaving the building.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

All the Christmas decs are packed away in a super organised fashion, even if I do say so myself. A pack of tiny baubles and some silver beads I don't use now have gone in charity box. In putting back "all year round" bits and bobs, I decided a few could go in the charity box also, a photo frame without photo, a little cream jug (I have others), a felt sheep that is a dust trap (I dusted it first
). Box not quite full, but it's going in car boot out off the way. I can still add to it.

Hello to Mrs SD and everyone. Happy New Year, hope it’s what you want it to be
I would like to join in with this journey if that’s OK? I’m happy to sit in the baggage car if all the seats are taken.
I have been reading along with last year’s thread and this year’s so far and have decided that this will be the year that I finally sort out my house and my life. I have previously done Marie Kondo and the clothing drawers and the wardrobes are still tidy, with only a handful of things to get rid of. Most of the downstairs of our house is pretty well organised.
However, the problem areas are:
The loft which is full to bursting with all sorts of tat which needs sorting and dumping/going to the charity shops/keeping. My DH is fed up of playing tetris when he goes up there, so radical steps are needed.
The smallest bedroom which serves as my “office” and workroom, where I do my admin and hobby stuff. There is soooo much paper in this room, most of it unneeded, so it needs a good sort-out – shredder beware you are going to be busy!
I also seem to have acquired a SABLE stock of fabric and yarn and haberdashery. These need using up or going to the charity shop. I intend to start knitting/crocheting again and will count balls used up in my total of things gone.
I have around 170 unread books in my collection, both on my Kindle and physical books. They either need reading or going. I’ve read 52 books in 2021 but I keep buying; this needs to stop before I end up buried under a sea of books.
Photos need sorting and weeding out.
My PC and tablet need sorting out as well. I have so many files and favourites/bookmarks that I have trouble finding anything.
I’m losing weight currently and will include any further losses in my total as it’s further decluttering that I want to do, along with some others on this thread I have noticed.
I’m going to aim for 2022 for this year and hope I get somewhere near that number.
Sorry for the long ramble but I wanted my thoughts down as a record to keep me in check. A year is a very long time and I’ll probably have forgotten my thoughts by next December.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

6 bags decluttered over the last 2 days. Lots of things to go to charity and some bags have gone to be recycled.
Lots more still to go, but not counting it until it actually leaves the house.

Completely lost track of days and the children actually go back to school tomorrow not today 🤦🏼♀️I did a yellow sticker shop at Sbobs and used Olio for the first time to collect so bread for the freezer and packed lunches tomorrow. In regards to decluttering I've
- Listed 2 more items on eDay
- Gathered a bag of things for either selling or charity shopping
Nothing has left the house today, tomorrow though it starts in earnest as a few eDay listings have sold and Charity Shops reopen. Can I list toiletries on Olio?
Enjoy your remaking bit of Bank Holiday, I hope it includes a nice cuppa from the drinks trolley and an upgrade to first class for the rest of the evening xDecluttering Campaign Member -179/2023

Hello all, gosh this EDT is sure zipping along like a bolt of lightening ⚡. Today out another pen, why do they all seem to run out one after the other ? The 2nd sweetie tub has been recycled along with an empty sweetener jar, several inners from mini cakes and a box of crackers, plus the cardboard outers. I have put out 2 full plastic/glass recycling boxes and the food caddy ready to be collected tomorrow. My Dad was here today for lunch and tea and we had a small joint of beef and the last of the xmas veg for lunch ( ready prepped and frozen when I bought too much for xmas. I have no idea what possessed me to order 2 kilos of carrots just for 2 of us 🤔 ) and then we ate some of the fancy cheeses with crackers at teatime. The rest of the cheese has been put in the freezer and will probably be used in cooking at some point. Tomorrow after we come back from DH seeing the "vampire" at his surgery, we will take down the decorations and tree and I'll try to recycled the stuff that was left in the box and not used, I really hope the cs will take baubles as I have far too many.
Hope everyone is well, hugs if not.
Take care all, stay safe and well.

@Baxtersmum both new and part used toiletries appear on my local olio. Most state clearly if it’s used or not/how much is left….

Good evening everyone
Please can I hop aboard? I have enjoyed reading how well everyone has been doing and you have inspired me to declutter not my house, but my garden.
My house has always been pretty under control and then during lockdown my husband and I did a very ruthless declutter, we literally went hard through every drawer, cupboard, box in the attic and the shed. We sold everything we could via eday, FB marketplace and finally a car boot sale, with what was left at the end going to the CS. We made £1500, I couldn’t believe it!So the house is okay, but the garden is not.. So that’s my aim for this year, to make it somewhere I can sit and enjoy in the summer, rather than avoid going out there because I feel guilty about the work I haven’t done.
Social Media was a complete time drain for me last year and I made the decision to delete it all from my phone on Boxing Day, so rather than sitting and watching other people live their lives, I am going to live mine this year.
Today H and I spent 1.5 hours in the garden and now have a full green bin, H’s car is full ready for the tip tomorrow and there is already another pile on the go.
I am looking forward to reading more about everyone’s progress and hopefully being on here will keep me motivated and accountable!
