Mrs SD, I also agree that you have taken on a task of epic proportions. Your magnificent cheerleading must take up such a lot of your time. We wouldn't mind at all if you cut yourself some slack.
Mr V has worked on youth projects in the past with DJ skills. In his radio work there are also many young people and media students that he imparts "wisdom" to. He isn't a natural teacher though. He is only evangelical with people who are as interested as himself! If I ask a question I very quickly glaze over at the answer. The only thing I can remember is that if your radio reception is poor one day it is most likely to be because of a rise in air pressure.
Glasses. I got rid of loads last year. Mr V was a little surprised when I told him we only had glass tumblers to serve drinks to guests at Christmas. Haha. I realised that I shall probably not be hosting an ambassadorial reception and just didn't need about a hundred glasses. We very rarely drink anyway so we didn't need a different glass for all the drinks we don't have,
I will start putting Christmas things away today. My trouble is I am a perfectionist and want them stored in the neatest way possible. I will take the opportunity to do another pass of things as I go. First the drawers in the spare room. I keep the Christmas quilt and blanket etc in there. Also other linens like my Grandma's embroidered table cloths. I don't need them, have never used them but can't part with them. Not that I am sentimental as I don't remember my Grandma, it is the time ,effort and skill in them that I admire.
I am saving tablet blister packs. Thank you to whoever mentioned it.

Success 1:
I bought a wrapping paper tidy, and packed all my Xmas wrapping paper, cards, ribbons, bottle bags etc into it yesterday. I put out to recycling some small bits of paper, crumpled bags etc.
Although I got rid of little, at least it's all tidy and in one place for next year. Hopefully it will save us money too, as we often buy more paper and cards as we don't know where last year's stuff is. Tidying up yesterday, I discovered we have enough wrapping paper and gift bags to last us at least 5 more xmases!15 -
Thank you Mrs SD. If I lived close enough to you all I would glad be a porter and come round to help you clear out, I love it so much!In the meantime can I offer anyone a cuppa ?My decorations and tree have been taken down over the weekend , just waiting in the garage for Dgs to come and lift them onto the rafters.
Ive emptied the large freezer and it’s defrosting whilst I clean the front windows. I will make notes of what is in the freezer as I put them back in.
I was inspired yesterday and went and threw away some little used items of toiletries, a hand salve that was in a tiny tin! And lipsticks I no longer wear . I also got a charity bag on the go with a handbag, as dd bought me a new one for Christmas. Then decided to get rid of some bras that I used to wear “going out” 😳 don’t really go out anymore and I am much more into comfort now. I’m off next week and hope to do some re organization/ decluttering whilst I’m off.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.14 -
I am still on the post Christmas laundry fest, but decluttering as I potter. In the charity box: some very pretty Easter egg hanging decorations, I won't use them, and a toast rack I may have used once in the late 1990s. Consolidated various Christmas chocs into Quality Street tin, so some packaging recycled.

Thanks @StickyTheStickInsect.
Good sorting day yesterday. I took all the decs down and the tree. I have organised the decs into the coming christmas and then the christmas after. I will only take a few boxes out of the loft instead of all of them. Have to get it in the loft now.
I put some broken Christmas lights in the tip box. I usually go when I have a full car.
Once everything was down and packed up it was really easy to clean and vacuum. as the lounge is tidy and decluttered. A small win was also sorting out the books on the shelf. I have a gardening section into which have put 4 file boxes with last years gardening mags in so my MiL can access them as well as me. I also gave her a big RHS gardening book yesterday.
The dining room is the place today. Got selling stuff, ornaments and loads of other bits.
Books read 2/52. The first was called The Half Hour Allotment by the RHS. Its a library book so will be going back. It was quite interesting in that the writer reckons that half an hour a day either spent as that or broken into secions of 10 or 15 mins you can do most jobs but broken down. bitbybit style. Also don't aim for perfectionism and don't berate yourself if you didn't get done what you thought you might. Good lessons for decluttering I'd say.
The second book was borrowed and will be returned.
Craft 1/52 First blanket edged and finished. 3 to go. Put in pile for Malawi along with some hats that I was given.
Cleaned the kitchen before bed. Pleased with this as making this a habit. I usually do at after everyone else has gone to bed but did it a lot earlier last night. I love these little wins

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks.
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedGood morning fellow travellers 🙂 I have woken up with a renewed spring in my step (probably because I caught up with the cheerleading and made the decision to continue each day with a morning visit & an evening visit) I believe that this is the most enthusiastic start to a Decluttering Thread for several years 👏 & I am hoping that everyone can remain enthusiastic especially if they know that someone is in their corner & gently encouraging them to stick with it 🙂. So I have started my day slowly - my To Do List has 11 items on it (because I did nothing yesterday 😔 however I will not beat myself up). The table cloth which had been soaking in a soda crystal solution is now chugging away in the wm with a few clothes. The kitchen is still tidy 👏
I do like doing the cheerleading Blackberrycurved 🙂 makes me feel a bit like Mother Hen 🥲 & to be honest it generally keeps me on the straight & narrow 😉 Well done on recognising the signs of Winter blues & tackling it head on by starting a morning routine 👏 Daily Meditation & a stretch class should blow away the cobwebs 😉
Black_Saturn, 5:00 am is definitely an early start 😬 I think it is a genetic thing - husbands & OHs lovable though they are 😉 are messy in the kitchen 😔 Enjoy your day 🙂Thanks Baxtersmum 👏 I love compliments 🙂 No worries about the train derailing - if I feel myself flagging I will just shorten my responses 😉 If we are all kind to each other the world will be a better place & where better to start than here on the MSE OS Forum 😉Thanks villagelife 🙂 Great decluttering 👏TC77, I kind of agree that getting rid of abundance is hard but think of the lightness you will feel when you have less ‘stuff’ weighing you down 😉 Glasses are so pretty but just take up so much space 😔 “.. best way of deciding if you like something is to wear it or use it. Putting on that dress you don't wear but keep reminds you that it isn't comfy etc” what a great & very useful observation 👏Good morning to you too Dithering_Dormouse 👋 The thread will gradually settle down to a steady pace as RL intrudes 😉 👏🙂 It will soon become a habit to keep the kitchen clean & tidy as it does work in keeping our spirits up 🙂 Well done on focusing on your bedroom (it can become your haven 🙂) & what an excellent start 👏 Looking forward to seeing you next week 😄Vascodakarma, Thank you for taking the time to fully explain the Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning 👏 although I do like the word Dostadning I am not sure I can remember it 😂 You are a completely different woman from the lady who started posting under a different name 😉 & I cannot express how happy I am when reading your posts - Fantasy You is the person you are meant to be 👏😄 Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us 👏 I can barely contain my excitement at your next adventure 😉Thanks vulpix - I know it seems epic but it does make me so happy 😁 I can happily read about real peoples lives for hours - probably why my decluttering is not as far along as it should be 🤣 I tend to glaze over when my DH starts talking about motorbikes 😉 Seems like a lot of us like our drinking glasses 🙂 As to your Grandma’s embroidered tablecloths is there some sort of museum where they could be displayed so other people can admire the time, effort & skill that went into making them?Nice post Floss 🙂
Absolutely brilliant VICTORIASUSSEX13 👏You have been busy wort 👏 surprised you have time to have a cuppa 😉Good work Guineapigsqueaks 👏 Perfect time to donate Easter items to CS 🙂 I am rather surprised that I haven’t seen an Easter Egg advert yet - they usually start on Boxing Day 🤣bit_by_bit, you are so well organised 👏 All those little wins have only come about because you have done so much work already 🙂👏 Thank you for reminding us to celebrate our successes 👏🙂
The wm has finished & now the td is going. Will finish my cuppa & then start on catching up with my To Do list 😉MrsSD 🏅

Visited Lisbon many years ago (decades) but loved it and think it's become more arty and trendy. - @Vascodakarma I am in awe of the progress and change you have made to your life. Interested to know how much you think your coach helped, and what are the key things you have done/do differently?

Mor.....Afternoon all xx
I don't remember what number I'm at so don't think counting is my thing. I'll just list what goes out / gets put away each day - I don't want ambition to become obsession ( a quote from Jonathan Creek that made me sit up and think!)
Just general recycling went out yesterday as I was nursing a cricked back and feeling a bit New Year bluesy.
Today:
4 cans of cider put in the fridge
1 bottle of cider put in the cupboard
2 bottle bags added to stash in drawer
Cardboard & empty (pop) cans recycled
Next to do:
2 bottles of cider to put in the fridge
1 glass to be WUDUPA
Packaging to be recycled
I'm putting away Christmas presents- I don't drink often but when I fancy a bevy my alcohol of choice is....cider. And my lovely family stock me up....that 'haul' has to last until my birthday in September because I don't buy it 🙃

Hi all - got up late as I lay in bed reading - just because I can! Still struggling with what day of the week it is. Have children tomorrow then taking them to school Wednesday. Supposed to visit DS1 next week as he has a big birthday but that may depend on how Covid goes in their house. They were able to rebook cancelled holiday for half term.
Not sure if I mentioned leak on Christmas Eve so waiting return of local plumber (who came within an hour Christmas Eve) and did temporary fix. I have given up on BG and will not renew my homecare next month. Decorating will be needed when it dries out.
Slow and steady start as I went round three bedrooms collecting odd carp, putting things away etc. One of the benefits of last year's decluttering is that all the extra bedding is exactly what I need for houseful of people and it all has somewhere to be stored neatly away. It was spread about randomly before and I would buy things then discover I had loads elsewhere. I vacuumed and wiped things down but rooms will need a deep clean - I opened windows for a couple of hours as well whilst heating was off. I'm going to pop round co-op and then I have a few decluttering plans. I have replaced a few clothes - winter weight tops mostly - the wardrobes could do with a sort out. My study is looking a mess so that will probably be the first room I tackle with a deep clean and tidy.
17,18,19 Bedrooms x 3 - cleaned and sorted
20,21 Bags of plastic to co-op recycling
