Just lost my first attempt at a post 😡 Thursday was a lovely sunny day with a chilly breeze so I did 2 loads of washing which were line dried, folded & put away. Also dealt with 2 days post & nipped out for potatoes. DH was busy (to the detriment of his hand - into his 6th week of shingles pain 😬) he mowed front & back ‘lawns’ using the term loosely 😉 & trimmed the front hedge. Dinner was sausages, mash, baked beans & plum tomatoes. Updated notebook, wudupa.
Friday is another bright sunny & warm day but still with the chilly wind. DH has fed the worms & is currently trying to do repairs on the front mudguard of the Goldwing again to the detriment of his hand - he is getting very frustrated 😔 I need to find some mojo to sort out my growing To Do list 😔

GrannyKate, sorry to hear that it wasn’t only the garden that got soaked ☹️ Hope you have a lovely trip 🙂 Well done on the gardening 👏 The fact that your tomato seeds have done nothing lets me off the hook 😉 as I haven’t planted a single seed ☹️. My gardening exploits will start when we get back from America - a bit late I know 😔

Mrs. S_D - could I ask what your husband is doing for shingles pain that might be money saving? I ask because I have a friend who also has shingles - and she is having difficulty with lowering the pain. I recommended cold compresses using baking soda, cornstarch, or oatmeal. I use those for rashes and she can get all of them with food stamps. But I'm not find other ideas for her.
Hope your husband gets better soon. My friend is just on week two and a half and is miserable. She lives quite a long way from me (she is in Colorado and I am in California, so I can't just pop in and make sure she has everything taken care of. She also has horses, dogs, cats, chickens, goats so can't take it easy and just rest. She is also in her seventies, like me.9 -

DH has managed to repair the mudguard - now just needs to pretty it up before putting everything back on the motorbike tomorrow. I did get up off my derrière, switched the TV off & went upstairs 😂 Stripped the bed, turned the mattress (on my own as it would have caused DH too much pain 😔), vacuumed the bedroom carpet, mattress & upstairs hallway (emptied vacuum cleaner twice), remade the bed apart from putting duvet in its cover. Next task was to sort DH’s wardrobe & the 3 drawers of his clothing in the CofD. The contents of the shelves in the wardrobe have been rearranged for ease of selection, the shelf above the hanging section of the wardrobe is also sorted, the drawers in the CofD have also been rearranged - uncomfortable undies & Sunday socks are being binned 🥳 & we now have a stack of his clothing on top of the bedroom storage unit ready for holiday packing. Dinner tonight will be a choice of egg, bacon, chips, mushrooms & tomatoes or an omelette. Tomorrow we will retrieve our suitcases from the loft, sort my wardrobe (a couple of the shelves have spare toiletries etc on them which I need to list 😬) & the drawers in my bedside cabinet + start sorting my clothing for the holiday. Unfortunately I ‘may’ need to buy a few bits & pieces ☹️ We also need to get me on the NHS app re the PCR test which is booked for the day before we fly out.

weenancyinAmerica, DH has been popping pills & sleeping a lot. Unfortunately I have no useful or helpful advice re the pain - as far as DH is concerned he had/has no solutions but we are in the fortunate position that anything that must be done can be done by me. I really sympathise with your friend as the first 2 to 4 weeks seem to be the most miserable 😩 & it is so exhausting being constantly in pain 😩 DH is now at the stage where he just gets a bit grumpy when the pain hits which is now infrequent. Is there anyone at all who can help your friend with the animals - perhaps someone from the local church? Apologies for being about as useful as a chocolate teapot 😔

783. Invoices done & sentLooking forward to heading off to Liverpool tomorrow - I will mostly be decluttering money over the weekend I expect. Had a lovely result today - went on to my local "No spend" group after seeing @QueenJess' post - thought I'd check it as another option for rehoming stuff. Didn't declutter anything but did pick up a pair of vivobarefoot trainers in my size - I was delighted as I've been wanting to try them for a while. (Thanks QueenJess I wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for your post!)

@EnergyShifter thank you, decorators only here 2 days, mainly insurance from open reach for damage pulling out wires, so done bits but woodwork stairs and landing and picture rail and doors now look in desparate need. Getting used to the colour - however much you test always different. Noticed there is paint on side of wardrobe and cabinet but hopefully I can get this out. Have a fab time in Liverpool.
Some high nos for decluttering going on.. The shingles sound terrible, hope Mr SD makes full recovery soon, and sorry @weenancyinAmerica about your friend.
Nearly 3 hours trying to sort out rat problem in DD1's garden - there are commercial building and restaurants near by, and landlord not interested. Has patio doors and no window and terrified. Went to pick her up in house for 1 minute and saw them in garden (Memories of our nightmare at home). Spoke to 12 different people at Council and then had 2 managers call me back, pest control round Tuesday and envir crime looking into it (wrong emails and tel nos of website). Counting as 3
Couple of pictures put back up - swapped where they were and realise one needs lowering and one to be higher (have picture rail) 1

Things seem to be slowing down here, I’m still mindful that I do have enough to declutter to meet my target but I guess it’s time to start looking at some of the things I’m holding on to that honestly serve no purpose but I’m keeping for some unknown reason, hidden in cupboards for well over a year now since I moved. All of it could be monetised I guess if not for me then for a charity shop.
My pupster has just been spayed, she’s doing well but somehow this morning has bled onto my favourite white waffle dressing gown, I’m really rubbish at getting stains out so advice would be most welcome.
Going to go through food stores today as I’ve now got confirmation of intolerances so all my refried beans and spicy things can go to the food bank, I’m going to miss curries the most!5 free samples of coffee bags used up, I’ve been holding on to them for some reason, to be honest they were really weak, no where near my normal mushroom soup consistency cuppa 😂

TC77 many charity shops welcome packaging, especially if they have lots of bric a brac. I usually ask first. I even offered them all the empty jewellery boxes after I sorted my mum's earrings - put them all on a velvet cloth so she could see what she had. Mum said that if a child was buying something as a gift the box would make it look more 'special'.
Was still tired yesterday but managed a couple of extra grooming tasks (my hair needs cutting but exhausted by what I'd done, so pushed it into shape whilst wet - may just cut the bits coming near my eyes, next time I have space for an 'extra'. Food waste out to the bin - some was the potatoes (DS3 and Beloved's) that I tried doing something with a couple of weeks ago, some from upstairs (had baby beetroot, carrots and raspberries for breakfast, 2 out of 3 were ys so stalk end of carrot and a few 'gone over' raspberries) then did both fridges (theirs had 3 bags of carrot/swede chunks bbf Apr 3rd, cooking bacon from September and some green slime that had been a lettuce) and put a wodge of paper towel at the bottom to soak up the deliquesence (not sure that's a word but it should be). Rinsed all the recycling that needed it before taking it out.
Meant to clean the fridges but ran out of energy. Did bring in two dried dresses (would have put more out but it was trying to rain) and brought them back upstairs with me, emptied the remaining stuff in the dishwasher, loaded it again and set it off (emptied a couple of bags for life with pots/recycling in and gathered cutlery from everywhere). One pan and a couple of other things binned (and made an executive decision on some 'takeaway' containers that had dried on gunge). Paper bag half filled.
Had some sad news which probably contributed to my slowing down. Read the plant based cookbook I borrowed from the library (looking for inspiration but just got hungry). Later on I started on sawing up a couple of long branches (some cuts made when it was still upright) but settled for gathering two piles of small branches/ twigs I'd cut previously. Rain threatened again and was glad I'd stopped because it absolutely poured down. Hoping for more progress this weekend but if I have to, will do what I can (every baby step helps and will make a difference eventually).
I'm awarding myself 10 points, not so much for what got done but because I did it, a few very tottery steps. 1736/2022My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage10 -
@mothernerd I am always so in awe of how much you do! I was really pleased when my CS took jewellery boxes to display/package jewellery. I'm keeping hold of some bubble wrap - its more the cardboard boxes.
Slowly putting things back in my 'office' after my decorating it weeks ago - temp office my bedroom, and part of it in 'front room' (the one that never gets used but should be guest read) and DD old bedroom. Have large stack of new or new to me files - so replaced battered one and went through culling (2) - will keep some as both DDs still studying. 3 fabric samples - don't go with colour paint, sorted 2 other piles of paper with bits out (2) refiled some and more to do - but can't find either of my 2 hold punches. Clearly I have far more to do than I would like to admit 702 (counting some things separately to get nos up
Found packs of seed - some already mislaid again but planting is one of my tasks.
Debating whether to get cotton velvet door curtains dry cleaned (last time didn't look v different) or to hoover and sponge dodgy spots!
Hope people taking time for tea and cakes in TLC and also large basket of fruit just delivered.10 -
Hi all, the washing is on the line as it is bright and sunny here. In the last few days I have tried to get a grip on the nsd but I did have to pop out for milk. Thursday I returned to swimming after missing 2 weeks with the cold. I have just realised I haven't mentioned my swimming. I started back about 2 months ago. I used to go regularly a few years ago but for 1 reason or another it fell by the wayside. Anyhow in an attempt to declutter some weight and to encourage OH to take some exercise we started going once a week. The first week we only managed 10 lengths, we regularly used to do 50 lengths so we have a way to go. This week we managed 26 lengths so I am pleased with that. We go to an adult session and it is only 45 minutes so a bit limited by time and may have to look for a longer session or swim faster
. The kits were washed and on the line early Friday morning as rain was forecast for the afternoon and it did arrive but everything was dry by that time. I posted a medical thing and a birthday card and ordered flowers online which should be delivered today. I took some time to delete stuff from the laptop and saved some stuff onto a memory stick. OH has loads of stuff on the laptop and a lot has been put onto the memory stick as I am not taking responsibility for that but it is off the laptop. It is quite an old machine and is starting to do strange things like shutting down suddenly so it will probably need replacing soon but I am wary of losing stuff so will move saved stuff asap justin. I have also been trying to delete emails but annoyingly I now seem to be getting notifications of posts on mse so I will have to sort that out, I have enough to clear already
. I have also entered the ballot for a ticket to the champions league final in Paris. I dithered for ages about it as it will be an expensive do what with the travel and accommodation but I have a friend in Paris I might be able to stay with and I can then travel a few days before the game and stay a few days after which should reduce the travel price. Anyhow I decided to enter the ballot and leave the matter in the hands of the gods
. OH could come as well if we don't fly but has zero interest in football and we have been to Paris several times and doesn't really want to go back.
Off to make another cup of tea and try to motivate myself to do something.....anything...
Take care everyone10
