Well I got through the week and things feel more settled. I'm still keeping a close eye on DS but we are both in a better space now. We had the meeting with his keyworker today and she seemed quite happy with how he was. Day off today and no clients at the weekend - I will have to do a bit of work over the weekend but just a couple of hours of planning. House still tidy and work admin up to date.
707. Wheelie bin full of pieces of shed
708. Chocs to key-worker as a thank you.
Sending hugs to everyone who needs them

Hi Mrs SD. Please may I hop on board the train? I've been avidly reading this thread and have got to page 160 - I will get up-to-date eventually! I've been decluttering on and off for several years. I retired early over a year ago and have used some of my new found time to get more stuck in to sorting stuff out. I think you could say though that it's a rolling programme with plenty more to achieve.
We have two sheds; one was sorted out last year in a joint effort with DH and the other one is mainly my task as it contains mostly my stuff. I've so far emptied one shelf which DH plans to use to transfer some stuff from the garage. I've got another large shelf to go plus there's some stuff on the floor.
The loft needs a sort out as the last sort out was several years ago but I want to do more work on the shed first. I sell some stuff on EBay and Vinted and various items awaiting selling are taking up room in one of the bedrooms (and making it look untidy).
There are other areas of the house to tackle too and so I may need a season ticket for the train 😊.10 -
Quick post to say I bobbled jumper only washed once taken back to shop and refunded.
Popped into a mending workshop where I took off the elastic waistband of a skirt I bought in 2020 and never wore as too tight and put a much bigger one on! Yippee lovely long summer skirt I don't have to squish in...also shown how to repair some fine silk chiffon as part of a 30s dress (my granny's) but will also need hooks and eyes where the seam is split. Kept it for decades - fab colours, long and crepe with handsewn buttons to match the dress. Nearly cut up about 10 years ago or thought of cushions so hoping abit of llbs decluttering and can wear for a summer party! Found they do a sewing surgery weekly, so going to bring back my dad's sewing machine and learn abit more. Ambition to make blinds - copy of existing but as I struggled to thread the tiny beading needle they gave me for the fine silk it may be a fantasy me!!

Today got three more bags of trash out youngest roommate's room. Worried because I found several loose needles and a razor blade lose on the floor. Picked up a box of magazines for the library, arranged to pay property taxes (which we have instead of Council Tax), and then spent three hours more putting books on the right shelves for our book sale next week. Wouldn't be so bad, but the room we are working in has no air conditioning and it was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside (about 38 degrees Celsius). Our house doesn't have air conditioning and neither does our car. Plan to spend tomorrow working on her room. We can't work on the book sale tomorrow since our local library is currently closed on Saturdays! Next Monday we will be going back to the library - we only have three more days to get ready.9

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedFinally back. Friday’s weather got worse - heavy rain & cold. What happened to spring?😔
DH & DSis finished their Chinese meals. I opened a tin of tuna, mixed in some mayonnaise & had a sandwich using a couple of slices of a crusty loaf. Cleared down more programmes from TV planner. Wudupa. DSis did her washing & used the td to dry 😱 She also did some tidying of her room - wonders will never cease 😉

TC77, the mending workshop sounds great & how wonderful that you now have the skills to revive a 1930’s dress 🙂 Love the idea of a weekly sewing surgery 🙂weenancyinAmerica you are working so hard on clearing youngest roommates room 👏 Please try not to worry too much about the needles & razor blade - hopefully the cleared room & the help that can hopefully be arranged on her return will help 🤞 Slightly jealous of the warm weather but it is definitely too hot to be working indoors without air conditioning 😥 Good luck with your 2 day book sale 🍀MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️I AM A STAR 🌟

@TC77 one of these needle threaders will help. If you can try and find a vintage one as they’re much more robust. The modern ones are far more flimsy and the wire tends to snap or unping from the holder.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

@florianatwobob thank you. I remmeber using one of these year ago. I may even have one or at my dads. I'm going to take his sewing machine and my mum's sewing box. I have a wooden sewing box which is prob 20 years old but nowhere as nice as my.mums which although smaller is much more robust (pre 1965). I may be very over optimistic as like basic sewing and sewed name tapes.when ironing , hemming , buttons and darning are.main things. School was always told.off as I had inky hands from leaky fountain pens and told useless in a way I don't think teachers are allowed now! Off to sort a few things.

@tc77 I have the contents of my mum’s sewing tin in my sewing box. Mum’s tin was full of random treasures and all generally more robust than the modern versions. That said I did pick up a couple more of the needle threaders when I was at an antiques fair.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Thankyou @Floss @Deni_debt-free_dreamer DS not scared, just angry. He has been living around people like this for 10 years and is very much used to dealing with these sort of istuations. Not that I like it though.
Also thankyou @TC77 I have two sons who have had to live in this sort of housing. It is very rough and gets no better sadly. I hope DD has found a safe space now.
@mothernerd Best wishes with your house plans
Welcome @RamblersTrail This is a fabulous and supportive thread.
DS2s locks have now been changed so he is happier.
Another bag to go to the CS today and first wash of DS2's stuff (8 bin liners) he is chucking out for the CS/ ragman. Its all smells fusty.
CS today. There is a new manager I am struggling with. Not because of her personalty but because she has thrown out so many things that are perfectly good donations but likes a very tidy shop. I am angry for the people who donate in good faith but also the landfill factor. the waste goes to a 'recycling centre' but I am not sure how much of it will get reused. Anyway. I will give it a few more weeks before I say something. And a bit longer before I vote with my feet. I recognise that some of it is not her fault, more due to the hassle from the next person up the management tree.
Anyway, moan over. time to start the washing.
Hugs to all who need themHave a fab day.
