Yesterday I started packing for a few days in York with DSis. This morphed into packing and sorting and pulling the summer stuff out of the cupboard over the stairs and and and…
Long story short DSis and I managed another 2 bags of random bits to the charity shop today. We did also end up in the antiques emporium (I love the word emporium) and came home and with a new to us hall mirror for £35. We had been looking for one and this is only 2 inches off the max height we could have. It seemed like a sign so it’s come home with us.Today I shall finish the packing and then head off to see friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. Tomorrow we declutter to York!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Bit by Bit sorry you're struggling with the new manager. It's annoying to see things being thrown out when they may be perfectly usable to someone, that's the only reason I donate to charity, my clutter maybe another's treasure.
Today I decluttered the contents of the washing basket and changed the bed then washed the bedding, it's all now on the whirly 🤞 it will dry. I have planted 2 new plants in the border, think I need to step away from the garden centre for a while as the border is getting wider and the lawn is getting smaller 😂. Silver lining----less grass to mow 😁 and all the plants are perennials so will take care of themselves mostly.
I have been looking for a bottle of sugar soap for a week and I had already checked all the likely places, under the stairs and in the sheds, but nothing. Then today I needed to clean out the cupboard under the sink as I had spilt some washing power and Eureka ! the sugar soap had fallen down the back of the cupboard into no mans land. While I was in the cupboard I found and either binned or recycled :-
1 empty tin of polish, 1 carpet freshener tin and a Mr Mus*le one ( I had 3 of those, doh !) 3cs bags which have been put in the office ready for filling. 2 dusters discarded as beyond any use.1 Empty rinse aid bottle,1 plastic glove, 1 yucky scourer and I empty bottle of disinfectant (I used the last bit disinfecting the drain today).
I also found 5 micro cloths which have now been washed and silly me had and bought 2 more new ones 😏. 3 rolls of food caddy bags, now put in their proper place, bought a new one of those too. Note to self - look before you buy !!
To my gardening shed:-
I tin of insect killer and 1 bottle of plant food.
Tin of key de-icer to the car pile and carboard box borrowed from the garden centre yesterday to bring home the 2 new border plants, a very large empty washing powder box ( decanted into a smaller container ) and an empty tissue box to the recycling bag.
MrsSD glad MrSD is on the mend.
Floriana enjoy your holiday in York.
Take care all, hugs to anyone in need.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bedSaturday has been a bright sunny day but oh so cold unless directly in the sun. DH was well enough to fill the bird feeders & zizz 2 large carrier bags of peelings for the worms & compost bins 👏 I went to MrA & bought more 99p Easter eggs - I like to stock up as a treat through the year until our birthdays in November 😉 Also managed to get some of DSis’s lacto free milk, paracetamol, chicken in breadcrumbs for tonight’s dinner & a couple of savoury snacks for DH & DSis. I have also written messages to French friends & used translation tool to convert to French. Will do the wrapping, addressing & customs forms after posting.
You are so right florianatwobob 😉 The more recent needle threaders are very flimsy.TC77, I think teachers have been forced too far the other way now - every child is brilliant at every school subject. Whatever happened to the happy medium of some children being good at some but not all subjects. Though imo both approaches are exceedingly injurious to children’s wellbeing. Apologies for getting on my soapbox 😔 I used to love writing with a fountain pen but like you I always ended up with ink smudges all over my hand ☹️Interesting information otb666 👏
Even buttons were more robust florianatwobob 🙂bit_by_bit, I think your DS2 is coping very well & should be proud of himself for his firm dealings with the HA 👏 Not a moan at all bit_by_bit - seems very wasteful. Perhaps the items she does not want cluttering up the inside could be placed on a table outside with a notice saying ‘Free but donations welcome’ Seems an unfortunate way to deal with donations & I have always preferred the CSs that are a pit higgledy piggledy 😉 If you do decide to leave would you find another CS to volunteer?florianatwobob, that sounds like a very typical packing session 😉 Well done on donating 2 more bags to CS 👏 Quite agree with you - emporium is such a lovely word & evocative of gentler times 🙂 Hope you have a lovely time with your friends & that the weather is kind for your trip to & stay in York 🍀Good work getting all your washing done nannywindow 👏 and 🤞that it all dries on the line. I like the idea of the lawn getting smaller but my DH wouldn’t countenance it 😉😂 Excellent decluttering achieved whilst looking for the sugar soap 👏MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️I AM A STAR 🌟

Sorry, I have been awol, I lost my phone for several days 🤦♀️More time and worrying spent on Mil. She is currently in hospital again.I agree about teacher comments Mrs SD. Mr V’s Geography teacher comment on his school report was “how this boy finds his way home from school is a mystery “. 🤣true to this day.Work tomorrow then a couple of days to put everything away that had to go in the spare room whilst our bedroom ceiling was plastered.Off down South Wednesday for a few days.Vx:9

Did quite a lot yesterday - several bowls of washing up, putting things away (rather than on the floor where I can fall over them or stub my toes). Significant part of the kitchen floor cleared, made most of a loaf into tuna butties, now wrapped and frozen, meals made from leftovers. Kondo-d 17 carrier bags (which I'm claiming as my total for the day because they are mostly from me unpacking stuff - DS3 and Beloved leave everything in bags and leave empty bags on the floor).
Today has been more cooking - there were 3 largish bags of potatoes (think Beloved couldn't find the ones she had already bought) in the kitchen (I've worked through the bags on the floor as I've been clearing access to the sink and the corner between the DW and freezer). So turned 10 middling ones into baked potatoes and lots of the others into mash. I'm going to use the tiny ones I bought for potato salad with a simple low calorie yoghurt and mint dressing.
Hoping to use most of the other bag for corned beef hash (will portion and freeze). Also made up pasta sauce with a new to me recipe - half will be pasta salad and half pasta bake. Cooked a whole bag of cauli/ broccoli florets in between other tasks. Had some to accompany salmon fillets, the rest will be used tomorrow. Opened a tin of mushrooms to go in the pasta bake. Was looking for mushy peas (same size can). Nearly eaten all the celery and carrot sticks and used a variety of items in a massive salad. Will look through the remaining veg tomorrow and ask if I can use some from their fridge before it goes off (had to throw 2 full heads of broccoli they'd left lying about). Will be haunting the ys shelves for more veg to add variety - picked up a new to me cook book at the library yesterday, lots of interesting things to cook.
Washing has been in and out to dry and new lot put through the washer. More bags to the bins plus a load of cans and another 3 buckets of mainly pyracantha side branches into the green waste (using up the old secateurs as have several 'not very good' ones and they only cut the thinner branches). Whittling down old and rusty, defective tools and then will bin them and use the brand new shiny ones. Also binned a bowl - lots of chips on the rim and an old meat fork - only 2 prongs which are twisted apart - have used them to !!!!!! baked potatoes but found using a small knife more effective.
Found my embroidery and now the pattern book (thread is on the bedside tray as I found it earlier in the week) so I'm hoping to finish DS1 and his wife's wedding sampler and take it with me on Tuesday - have the frame ready. Found an easy pattern of Babar the elephant in the library - hoping it's easy to do (need a quick win) as Babar always wears that emerald suit and there's no shading - flat green for the suit and flat grey for Babar. May download some of the patterns I want to buy and print them out at the library or later on. I have very little money atm so revisiting some of my plans for the month and finding low cost diy solutions. Will cannibalise next door's broken gate (and possibly the bit of someone's shed he was using as a replacement) to make a fence panel (have lots of raised bed and old bed slats already painted up, just need to repaint in a more subtle colour (already have the paint).
May also get DS3 to take down the wall cupboards as both myself and Beloved are struggling to use them (me because of arthritis and Beloved barely comes up to DS3's elbow). Hoping to utilise them at ground level and make extra shelves.
So 17 for yesterday and 15 for today (if only for the number of square yards of kitchen floor now visible and cleared of obstacles). @florianatwobob hope you have a lovely time in York, it's a lovely City. I hadn't thought of vintage needle threaders selling... @bit_by_bit, @EnergyShifter and others with young people who are/have struggled lots of hugs, and thank you for support and kind work. DD1 is working part-time and hoping to get her get back to her nursing course with clinical placement as occupational health signed her off after her accident last year. She is encouraging me to declutter and get a life!
Some ood food out, and 2 storage boxes filled and high up in kitchen in unused space,, unsubscribed from couple of things, but alot of lounging around today.
@bit_by_bit how frustrating about the approach of your new manager. People are so inventive with re-using and esp now anything that people can use you'd hope could be available. the suggestion of a table outside asking for donations sounds good and I have seen a few CS do this in quite posh areas, or a box that you rummage in.

Last few days have been very hot. We actually had the highest temperature in the country on Thursday. (106 degrees Fahrenheit). Thank goodness it is getting back to normal. Have now finished cleaning about 2/3 of roommate's room (found 26 forks, 4 spoons, and other dishes do far). Will try to finish most tomorrow. I actually start my day fishing items out of the pool that the dog has thrown in. Then feeding 2 dogs, 2 indoor cats, and 2 outdoor cats each day. I work on the computer for an hour. Then I've been tackling the room of doom - have removed 10 large bags of trash so far this week. If I was counting the number of items I would probably be over 500 already. Also have removed 8 bags of cans and bottles to take to the recycler's. I stop and work on the computer every hour or so to recover. Then head in again. Running out of time because we are still working on setting up for the book sale. I should be interesting getting the books set up in the room Wednesday afternoon - followed by the two day sale. I have had people stop me in the library to make sure of the hours - so it looks like we will will have a good-sized crowd. After next week I intend to crash and relax for a couple of days!9

Somewhat exhausted here but plodding on.
542 Found a place to store stamp albums - mine and late DHs. Not sure what to do with them but they are out of sight, safe and dry and I will think about it another day
543 Did some on line family history frogs
544 All emails answered and saved/deleted
545 Glass items collected and put in display cupboard (one had been waiting for repair 20 years)
546 Small glass teddy sent off with the others (found at late mums) but not genuine SW***I so thrown away
547 Booked tickets for stately home visit with DD in September - only open one week a year. Also reserved dates in July when DD and family are staying an hour North of me and have space for me to join them.
548 DS2 sold a nice coat which is too small for him - as he is staying here I shall count his items which leave my house. I am gradually accommodating his things as they arrive in dribs and drabs. I have given the children a large deep drawer each for clothes and things. I only had spare linen in there and I have a better home for that. Late DH had so many clothes that it left me with loads of wardrobe and drawer space in our room.
Spending too much money but can't take it with you. Shower time then I shall definitely tackle at least one more box of papers/photos.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Thanks @ bit-by-bit
The shredders have increased to 25/500. Sounds a bit pathetic really; if I wasn't aware that there are some things that once shredded I would regret doing, I think I would just have a glass or two of vermouth to take the edge off and have a shred fest to be done with it. So, slow and sober it is.
I wish you all continuing progress.7
