Hello all,
Once again work has taken over from my decluttering, having to respond to lots of comments on my documents, as well as trying to sort roof repairs having decluttered ridge tiles and roof slates in the storms (also have scaffolding but no roofer yet - today, fingers crossed), plus celebrations for DS 18th and DD1 16th Birthdays (born 2 years less 6 days apart!).
I have been reading all your posts to keep my motivation to declutter going and also for you lovely company on the EDT. Sending welcomes to the newcomers and my support, good wishes and love to all, and especially anyone struggling with health issues or grief, or just feel the need for a virtual hug!
Items decluttered out of the house – 2 sets broken Christmas lights to tip, 6 cardboard boxes, jar cooking oil and 6 magazines recycled, 6 items to charity shops and 6 items to my sister for my great niece. Plus have quite a lot of stuff waiting to go but not counting them until they have left the premises!.
Tidying has just been one storage box since I last posted, but huge frog eaten (mainly by my OH and DS following my persistent nagging) as my storage unit is now empty! All contents either in my lounge waiting to go to charity shop, upstairs waiting to be sorted, or now stored our old but now watertight shed or the new (ex-display) shed. Plus decluttered 5 boxes and 1 bag of my late Mum’s ornaments, etc, to my sister for her to try to sell on Eday; she’s been successful at selling a few of her things and has the hang of it (my Mum died in 2009 and I’ve been storing these boxes since with the idea I would sell them!). Very happy to receive £39 refund in storage fees!
35 various other jobs decluttered from my list of things to do (perhaps I ought to also account for any jobs added to my list to replace those ticked off, lol!).
Tumble dryer died and as I had to urgently get a replacement I forgot to try to look for a secondhand one, oh dear! But did choose an A+++ energy rated one to replace my gas one so hopefully the new one is better for the environment, and despite being rated the second best of the greenest ones in Which? magazine, it was less than half the price of the recommended ones. Delivery people took old one away for free so nothing added to the household clutter, although the one before is still cluttering up one of our old sheds! At least now the bikes have been moved into the new shed, you can get at it, so its departure is imminent! Lots of other expenditure this month with Birthday presents and parties, and booking of theatre trips and short breaks, having kept postponing these due to covid. So as soon as I’ve earned money working it seems to have been decluttered!
My total was 745, add 69 = total 814 / 5000 (day 61, target is 854 at 14 per day so have now got behind, but not going to beat myself up over it as I could have counted each item in the boxes that went to my sister…! And still plenty of stuff to tackle in every room.)
Finished She Speaks by Yvette Cooper, and then Three Women just in time for my book group meeting on 12th Feb, but only half a book since then (which is abandoned somewhere in the house so I can’t recall the title). Total 6/52.
Mending – mended the last 2 Christmas decorations, and although they’ve been decluttered upstairs, they still haven’t been put away with all the other doccys! – Total 21/52.
UU 1 bottle and 1 sample bottle shower gel 1. Still need to motivate myself to declutter some weight.
Love to all, H x
My boys are 2 years less 8 days apart - when they were 16 & 18, I was 40 exactly between them so we had one big party 🥳sumb7170 said:.... celebrations for DS 18th and DD1 16th Birthdays (born 2 years less 6 days apart!).
