Could I join please? I'm moving house later in the month and and want to create a better space in the new house that flows more easily and isn't covered in chaos all the time.

I was here in 2021 but did not last very long as I was decluttered from my job and then spent the rest of the year gardening, sight seeing NT properties, UK holidays and mini breaks, looking after our grandson
I would like to join the EDT, but will no doubt be using the scenic route as a new grandchild is due in just over 6 weeks, planned C-Section, or as my OH calls it sunroof entrance :-)
We are changing our garage door later this month so there is some serious decluttering to do in the garage, mostly boxes which are being kept for Justin aka "Just In Case", tins of paint to go to the tip, various tools which need sorting and de-duplicating. This will be our first platform of call and I will be back with a tally of items added to the exit door.
Happy New Year declutterers! Lovely to have so many new travellers on the EDT and familiar faces too.
Lots of plans for me this year:-
1. Prioritise my health and fitness, in particular good dietary choices and walks.
2. Wear good clothes both at home and out.
3. List 3 things I am grateful for, daily.
4. Weekly Friday Frog to be done first thing every Friday. I have a master list of things to tackle so will work through it. If the mood takes me I can always eat an extra one during the week.
5. Draw up a daily cleaning schedule. It doesn’t matter if certain things are only done once a month because this will be an improvement on previous years.
6. 1 in 2 out rule to be applied to clothing. I have plenty of lovely clothes so I am hoping that this rule will stop me from buying anything else - I’ll not want to get rid of one thing I already have, let alone 2!
7. No buying books, vitamin supplements or store cupboard foods until I have read/used up what I already have. Money saved on not buying groceries to be moved into a savings account.
8. Last year’s decluttering focus was on paperwork. This year it is going to be the little bedroom which has become a dumping ground. I have a filing cabinet in my bedroom but would like to swap this for a cod (which I have lent to OH in the short term) and have a couple of filing boxes in the little bedroom instead.
I have really enjoyed cooking in my clearer kitchen this Christmas, sleeping in my cleaner, tidier bedroom and having relaxation time in my cleaner, tidier living room. One thing that has become clear is that I need to be able to get to my desk in the little bedroom so that paperwork etc can be done there and not end up spread all over the breakfast bar or the coffee table. It would be good to shut the door on it instead of it looking at me all the time. So, I will make a start on that tomorrow.
I was given a diary for Christmas, however I already have one for appointments so the spare one is going to be used as a planner and a way of keeping track of what I am eating, exercise, somewhere to write my daily gratitude list, my to do list and Frogs 🐸 etc.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.
8 kitchen bin emptied 9 living room bin emptied (New bin bags in both) 10 2021 calendar recycled 11 disposable mask binned - found in pocket when I went for a walk!!
It was oceanspirit's post that gave me the final nudge to put on my coat and boots and go for a walk after much procrastination earlier. A very short walk as I'm soon breathless - but a walk is a walk. Got to start where I am...the only way is up or further in this case.
Some progress made. DD filled bag of clothes for charity shop plus few items for rag bag. Persuaded OH to go through his whisky collection, he drinks it rarely, gets gifted too much really. Couple of bottles to go to charity raffle, one for regifting and dregs in one long opened disposed of and bottle recycled. Added a couple of Xmas tablecloths to charity bag, I never use them. And a half used bubble bath, I don't like the smell, down sink and bottle recycled.
my goal for the year is to continue decluttering according to the Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, and to raise £2022 to be spent on future experiences, rather than tied up in memorabilia from someone else’s past.

Now that the Covid express has left our household (glad to see that back of that bloody train!) I've been feeling ready to start my journey to destination declutter.
Had a good day - stripped 3 beds and put new sheets and covers on them all (no washing today though as it's supposed to be bad luck) had a good discussion with my husband about things we want to do round the house, things we plan to get rid of and ideas for renovations etc. It was great to see we both have similar goals and agreed on stuff that needs to be done.
Today I've thrown away a pot of face cream which was out of date, removed a lamp which was partially broken from our sons room and added it to the pile for our next dump run. I sorted a load of my children's drawings, leaflets, booklets and magazines which have gone in the recycling and used up two perfume samples.
I've listed two things on Olio, one thing on FB marketplace and thirteen things on Vinted (two of which have already sold)
Started off my charity shop bag with one book and will keep adding to it over the course of the next fortnight.
Thanks for the encouragement all ! I'm still on a decluttering roll. Will have to slow down though because a. I'm getting a little tired b. I'm running out of storage space for stuff destined to CS - local one won't open until Tues. c. I really need to at least make a start on my accounts (realised the decluttering might be, at least in part, a procrastinating tactic )
