This is one of my aims too - when the kitchen was decorated last month, I put things back slightly differently so there is less space to dump stuff now!
I'm about to go for a walk, to declutter some of the sluggishness & to start my year off on a good footing (see what I did there? 😁)
I think I will try for 2022 for 2022 on the EDT. I also plan to do a job grid to put on the board in study - one decorating/cleaning list for each month. I got a bit out of the cleaning habit and have noticed a few cobwebs and dust in corners. Taking Christmas tree down today and I intend to seriously go through the decorations which I never use before stuff goes back in loft. I have some vintage ones which I will keep but too many others.
Very impressed with your list @EnergyShifter - a great start. I thought I might try the 1p challenge - I meant to save money for Christmas cash gifts but found myself using it for birthdays. Very expensive couple of weeks just before Christmas. I have also been lax about clearing kitchen at night. Many years ago when I worked nights the worst thing was coming home to a messy kitchen with last night's washing up not done. As soon as we had the money I bought a dishwasher - children were upset as they wanted electronic stuff- at least I could shove everything in dishwasher and it would be clean and ready to put away when I got up. DH and children did eventually get the hang of filling it up before they went to bed.
I shall get dressed, put a pot in cupboard for 1p challenge, empty fridge of all left overs, write my grid up and get set for the journey round UK (looking forward to the overseas excursions).
450 items decluttered 150 neutral items donated to charity auction i really worked hard on decluttering smellies in 2021, esp DDs half used perfumes, shower gels etc. Have really noticed a difference with no bits just left dumped about!
Off we go!
🎉1 Foot balm gel finished-packaging into recycling 🎉2 Gift card used up. There was only 1.26 left on it but was determined to use it somehow. I was able to use it on a clearance item for the charity auction, leaving me only 1.24 to pay. Will get a great item for peanuts that should hopefully raise a lot of pennies. 🎉3 Shower gel gift that had sat in the wardrobe, used for a friend to put a little gift bag for her for Christmas, esp as I know it was one of her favourite brands
🎉4 Broke up an alcohol gift set I had picked up in the sales last year. The chocs were out of date as I had forgotten about the set. (Still tried the choc but it was stale). Alcohol came in handy to match up to another item for friends gift bag present.
Energy Shifter, an amazing start to the year for both you and your son.
Today we have a houseful of relatives again. Although some seem to be hungover and poor Mr V was at work until 3:30.
Last night I spent cooking ,using up festive food. vegan lasagne, cheesy twists and lemon curd. Tomorrow I can clean the fridge and ovens. for a clean fresh start to the year. Less stodgy food will be on the menu, I can tell by my clothes that I have put weight on recently.
This is the year I will use what I have. No new clothes even from the chazzer, will test my mettle
I look forward to our journey and getting to know you all.
I've read all the posts and completely forgot what I was going to reply to everyone. Wishing you all a fantastic new year!
MrsSD DH is going to bag it into our green bin (garden waste) as it isn't emptied until the spring and then filter it in when it goes 2 weeks in a row. I'm super excited for all those spring walks with the pram but I suddenly feel old 😂
Energy Shifter, that was one huge suitcase and I thought mine was bursting at the seams. Well done on a great start.

Was quite disappointed with the Dun@lm bedding we were bought for Christmas, a lot of plastic packaging! I know tge last few sets we've had from supermarket have been packed in a fabric bag or just a fabric strap. I did think being more expensive it would be more environmentally friendly.
Well D3 has just come down and asked me to declutter the birds nest she seems to have found in the night so I'll be back later.

I've been humming and hawing whether to unlurk and ask if I can have a seat on the EDT? But it looks so much fun that I can no longer resist. Please Mrs SD can I come?
I've been slowly decluttering a lifetime of hoarded 'stuff' over several years to the point where I now have floor in every room! But there's still a lot to do. My target for 2021 (and several previous years) was to be able to eat at the table. On 27th December I finally sat down to lunch at the table with DS and his GF. If I hadn't been so happy I'd have cried. Hope that makes sense.
I'm all a bit vague with what to aim for next. But I've learned on my journey that it doesn't matter where you start as long as you start. (It's physics- overcoming inertia is the hardest bit).
I desperately need to declutter several stones of chubbage - which will improve life in very many ways. So that's my starter for 10.
If it's ok with you I'll have a think what else to aim for. I'm not even sure how / what to count so that may evolve too, but so far today:
1. Half a manky cucumber binned 2-3 over ripe bananas binned 4-6 ood burgers/ thawed & refrozen ice cream binned and boxes recycled 7 Christmas TV guide recycled
I decluttered DS and GF into their own house just over a year ago so there's just myself and Sweetie (my budgie) here.
Looking forward to getting to know my fellow travellers.
This is the year I will use what I have. No new clothes even from the chazzer, will test my mettle
🤩 This is my aim too, only undies new if needed! Although convicted has taught me that wearing a vest with a shelf in is sooo much more comfy than a bra anyhow😂
I’ve just listed 15 items on Eday ~ some were automatic realists which end tomorrow so I guess that’s when I start adjusting my 2022 item total.
Really enjoyed reading ALL your posts.
Good Luck everyone 😘

I haven't been on this thread before but I'm looking forward to joining you in decluttering. My DH and I both have hoarding tendencies so I have a lot to get through. My aim is to clean, fix and declutter things room by room, and hopefully make a bit of extra cash in the process. This morning I started with electronic clutter, by clearing out my e-mail and unsubscribing to junk mail. So I have at least made a small start. I will have to go back to page 1 here though to catch up on what I've missed so far.
Wa-hey, first time in YEARS I've signed up to a year challenge at the start rather than then end I'm not going to set a target but I'll number what I've done.
