ETA: My goal is 2022 things (including digital files and even unhelpful thoughts and beliefs).
12 -
I have started early, when trying to find somewhere for all my baking trays etc, I decided to empty my pan/baking trays shelf I currently use and have got rid of an old set of pans not used for several years, several pizza trays and baking trays that have seen better days and a wok, all to go to the recycing centre/tip, hopefully in the near future. I have taken some replacement pizza/baking trays out of my stash and a new wok so less now to store and shelf looks much better with less on it.I am currently in the process of clearing a box of paperwork and have sorted a full carrier bag for recycling bin tomorrow which is about 2/3rd of what was in the box so feeling proud of myself. No way am I counting the pieces so I am not setting a figure target as counting everything seems time consuming. I know what I have got rid of and the difference it makes and that is good enough to me that I can see it going down.I did buy 2 hair products today and am keeping 1 of the 2 pieces of clothing I bought the week before christmas, the other will be going back in the next few days.13

The 2022 Electric Decluttering Train is now in motion stopping everywhere & as if by magic picking everyone up 🪄 So settle into your seats & get to know each other. Feel free to move between carriages & find old friends & make new ones. Our 2022 Decluttering Journey has begun 🥳
Please note there will be regular stops to welcome aboard new people & also to offload the clutter 😉
Hope you are all settled in nannywindow 🙂
Lovely to see you Foofoopuppy 👋 You are one of several maintenance declutterers who have done the really hard work & are now making sure that clutter does not gain a foothold again 👏 Wishing you every success on your weight loss journey 🙂
EnergyShifter hope the suitcase isn’t too heavy 😉 & now you can start counting 😉
Great start on the placing items in their designated spaces, bit_by_bit 👏 What an excellent start to 2022 a new grandson - hope mother & baby are doing well & congratulations to DS3 & you 👏🙂
Welcome aboard GrannyKate, please get settled & ready to make 2022 a successful year of decluttering 😉
OWD_nana hopefully you have been picked up already 🤞 it is lovely to see you again 👋
I think you & Foofoopuppy should get along as you are both maintenance declutterers 🙂 I have noted your target 🙂 I need to improve my physical health also, so once I have welcomed everyone aboard I will find you & we can chat about our strategies for getting fitter 😉Excellent work charlies_tribe 👏 Do you have a garage to store the decluttered stuff? Or maybe some nice neighbours who have space in their bins? If neither of these options is available, I think a Tip trip might be needed 😔 How exciting, a Spring baby 🙂
As it happens ilovetea, your seat was reserved & it is an aisle seat 😉 Target noted & good luck with the 5000 poppies 😉
Excellent & extensive list of Good Intentions Baxtersmum 👏 I also love that you have rather succinctly reminded me of how decluttering can be a form of self care & how happy I feel when I have even one empty shelf 😁
Welcome aboard Foxy_Socks 👋 The 2022 EDT is currently making its way around the U.K. (with a bit of magic thrown in to collect the members of our decluttering family who live abroad 😉) & magically stopping to pick up everyone 🪄 I must say it is very inspirational reading about your successful decluttering of 90% of your physical stuff - even if it was 10 years ago 🤩 I believe that as you declutter physical & digital items it has a knock on effect of decluttering mental & emotional clutter 🙂 A good start re the decluttering - the pyjamas are not only physical decluttering but mental decluttering - you deserve to wear nice clothes 😉
You are obviously a night owl akh43 but making better use of your time by decluttering 👏 An excellent & productive start to your 2022 Decluttering Campaign 🙂I am raising my cup to a Successful Decluttering Year for all of us currently aboard the EDT & for all of those who hop aboard over the year 🤞

My good intentions (sadly resolutions are always broken) for 2022 are:
1. Re-carpet our bedroom & repopulate with new (already purchased) or up-cycled furniture.
2. Complete all small repair jobs around the house.
3. Rearrange contents of all kitchen cupboards & drawers - empty, clean inside & out, declutter, design & build a shelving unit, get ovens professionally cleaned.
4. Be as productive as possible in the garden.
5. Self care - start walking, resume visits to Chinese Wellness Centre (new location) & update wardrobe.Potential extras: Finish DH’s office carpeting, put up a long shelf & declutter fully.Plan bathroom refurbishment.
Now to this years Daily Mantras
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 5 tasks.
2. Deal with Old Frogs & potential frogs ASAP but at least one on FROG Fridays.
3. Reduce/Restrict time watching TV and playing AB2 during daylight hours 😉
4. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy before going to bed.Think that should do me for 2022 😉

Morning all, Happy New Year ! My baggage has been stowed and I've found my seat.... All aboard !! I've always wanted to say that 😁 In my imagination I'm on a futuristic Orient Express with lots of like minded passengers.
I have already started decluttering as sadly I broke my favourite mug this morning, my Hug in a Mug one 😟 A fluke accident really as it was hit by a mini toffee hammer which flew through the air in slow motion. Couldn't do that on purpose if I tried, and it wasn't even my toffee !!
My goals this year are-
Sort out the decorating that was on last years NY resolution list, epic fail that, sorry. Just the bedroom and lounge to start with, I already have the paint for the bedroom but I am lacking the feature wallpaper, must make my mind up.
See more of my family.
Take several holidays with DH in our touring caravan, we haven't been away in it since 2019.
We need to get the drive finished, xmas stopped play for the builders, then get some railings around the top as there is now a 4ft drop and you can bet it will be me that will overbalance and end up in a heap at the bottom.
Save some pennies and get the other side of the front garden sorted, new front wall, new railings and a revamp of the steps.
Sort out the front garden that the builders have almost destroyed ( couldn't be helped with the damp/wet weather and they needed somewhere to put their tools ) I am really looking forward to designing and landscaping the garden.
Losing some weight and getting fitter 😠 and helping DH lose his excess weight, he has more to shed than me. We want to get back to the walking too as that will help with our fitness, we've missed the mountains and fresh air this past year.
Right I think that's enough to be going on with for now. If I can do all this it will be a fantastic accomplishment for me. I shall need a lot of help though so as to not fall off the train. 🚇
Bit By Bit congrats on the new bundle of joy.
Looking forward to this year and all the news.
Take care all, stay safe

Hello. I paused my posting last year as the thread had so much activity. I need to keep decluttering tho as I want cleaning to be easier so I can spend time on more enjoyable things!
I know my priorities for the year, so am hoping I can concentrate on those.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
Happy New Year all! I am very excited to be on this train (I love the idea of it being a futuristic Orient Express nannywindow), thank you for having me. My main aim is to completely declutter my house, I know that’s a bit vague but I’m not very good at targets so will just do the best I can and alongside this decorate my house a bit and make it more of a home rather than just having blank walls everywhere. I’m looking forward to being here with you all and hearing about everyone’s progress. May everyone be clutter free by the end of the year – or at the very least a bit more clutter free having had a lovely chat along the way!
Sorry to everyone who struggles with their mental health from time to time, it can be so debilitating. Even doing just one thing a day will help you to feel like you’re going in the right direction.
Mrs_Salad_Dodger thank you for the warm welcome! I remember you from the Love Food Hate Waste thread, again I didn’t really post on there but you were all an inspiration with trying not to waste food. I do miss that thread! That is another goal of mine for 2022, to reduce food waste.
Suffolksue I’m so sorry to hear about your DH. May 2022 be a fresh start for you and after a good declutter your bungalow will be a happy space of your own with all of the good memories.
Oh vulpix how I wish we really were off to Hogwarts!
Fizz I quite often find I start, get overwhelmed then shove it all back too! Sometimes I tell myself to focus on one item and not an area, literally pick up one single item and decide what to do with it. That way you can usually work through a few things and not be disappointed when you don’t do a whole area. Soon those single items being moved or removed start to make a difference.
Dithering_Doormouse that’s one of my goals – to have my house in a state that I wouldn’t be embarrassed of if someone turned up out of the blue!
TheCraftyForager so sorry to hear you are suffering with long covid, I do hope you recover soon and get some of your energy back.
bit_by_bit congratulations on your new grandchild!
