2022 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

Here to jump aboard the EDT, I understand my place has already been reserved 🙂
Sorry in advance for the long post, but I do find it helps to have concrete goals set out, so I can refer back to it when I forget later 😅
I'm at more of a maintenance stage, so the goals are:
1. Make sure cleaning is dealt with promptly to prevent clutter building up on surfaces.
2. Similar to #1, deal with paperwork regularly and make sure it is placed in the right folder and not just a stack. Review paperwork twice a year and chuck anything no longer needed.
3. Minimise purchase of clothes and shoes unless, a. Something has worn out and needed to be chucked and b. I don't already have a replacement for it. Pennies are one thing that do not need decluttering!
4. Declutter as close to the 3.5 stone I've put on over the past two years as I can.
5. Regularly clear out the drawers and cupboards where things get shoved when they don't have a set place, and find a set place for them.
6. Due to lots of presents and not reining my self in my candle collection has exploded again. So get that down to a reasonable level again (and long term try and avoid buying too many at once).
Plus general making sure I'm not bringing in clutter or letting rubbish build up.
I'm looking forward to following everyone on their journey, it really does help keep me on track, and Mrs SD's cheerleading is always uplifting to read!
See you all in the New Year, I am very glad to see the back of 2021, so let's hope 2022 is better xx15 -

Oooh, lots of new travellers; welcome
Some furniture delivered in boxes yesterday. The polystyrene packaging in bags for the loft and Boxes folded and in the garage for the allotment. Not quite out but dealt with.
DS3 partner gave birth to a lovely bundle of joy today so the second baby, a boy, has arrived and I am holding myself back from buying loads of stuff already. All I really need is the changing mat, moses basket and bedding, baby wipes etc and a change of clothes for each child. I am looking forward to using my stash to make toys for birthdays and Christmas for both thoughHappy days.

Hi everyone, can i book a seat on the electric train please. I enjoyed maintaining my decluttered home and would like to continue in 2022. Everyone on here is so kind and helpful i feel among friends. Looking to find new ways to keep possessions to a minimum whilst also being kind to the planet.
I need to keep my mental health balanced and my physical health improved also, so looking for a calm home if not totally to my liking yet. Target of 500 again Mrs SD please as that seemed to work well for me. Aiming for one in one out and a lot less paperwork and stationery.
Hope all enjoy their New Year celebrations in the way they like best. Looking forward to meeting new declutters in 202211 -

My intentions for Decluttering my Home and my Mind- 2022 things to be Sold, recycled, regifted, reused, donated.
- Make a ‘To Do List’ each morning, it keeps me on track and I like crossing things off.
- All money made from Eday items into a separate account to go towards next Christmas.
- No buying new except underwear or car repairs, try secondhand as a first option.
- No new clothes, not even secondhand, I’ve got everything I need and a pretty good capsule wardrobe to see me through a few years, mending should be my first option.
- Insect based food for pets and compostable cat litter, home made dog treats package free from the independent stall on the market.
- Keep my counselling sessions each week for the next year (I’m newly disabled and need help adapting to changes)
- Don’t say yes to things I know I’ll be too tired to do.
- Aim to declutter the grandchildren's rooms here, get them to help when they stay, encourage them to tidy.
- Be more intentional with my purchases, will I eat it? Will I use it? Is it an impulse buy?
- Say no to gifts, I honestly don’t need anything. If people insist then have a list of foodie or eco toiletries to suggest, but refuse or ask for a Choose Love or Oxfam Voucher.
- To have 1\2 full cupboards is the dream 💭
The list makes it sound like I'm a bit of a hoarder but I'm really not, I'm kind of the opposite really, I’m very minimal but I have had my adult child and their two children staying with me 50% of each week since their relationship breakdown and the house feels overwhelmingly full by my own standards, they are about to move into their new place and I get to reclaim my home with one night a week having the little ones stay over. When the house is too full it does affect my mental health, I’m a neat freak so decluttering really is a form of self care for me, it puts me in the happiest of places which is why I'm so glad I found this group,
Happy and Healthy New Year to you all ☺️🎉

May I jump on the decluttering train before it leaves, please?Ten years ago I got rid of about 90% of my belongings and enjoyed living a minimalist lifestyle for a few years. But a decade on I'm now a wife and mum and have gradually acculmulated a household full of stuff again. If I'm honest, the digital, mental and emotional clutter is weighing me down even more than the physical objects. I'm looking forward to streamlining things this year.
I've already started by binning a pair of pyjama bottoms that were 3 sizes too big, frayed and had holes in them. Yet I was still wearing them weekly!11
