That's the last thing you need at such a difficult time, isn't it??
Next on my personal list is making sure all accounts etc are obvious, so if POA does kick in, it's not impossible to figure out where everything is.
I think I've done my bit with POA for everyone else - mum is set up with an account with her name and address etc filled in for both health and finances, she just needs to make decisions which I can't do for her, then I'll help her with getting it all signed in the right order when she's ready.
I've talked endlessly about it to Mr Cheery, about both him and his dad, but I can't do more than that. If he asks for help with logging in and filling it in, fine, but I'm sick of hearing myself talk about it now - they'll do it or they won't, and I'll deal with whatever consequences arise as and when.
We are nearly home, hooray! Almost 5 hours in the car today, and Mr Cheery is back out shortly so I have the evening to myself.
Back in a bit with a list... which will have some cheerful things on as I am in need of cheerful things - I have done a LOT of parental IT support and scrubbing other people's floors this weekend...8 -
You can only push so much can't you. My younger sister was the one who thankfully pushed my mother into having one & I have absolutely no idea if she has one herself. I decided a few years ago that frankly it is her problem if the proverbial hits the fan & is no problem of mine. She is in her 70s like me but seems to think that she only is invincible. I have to laugh sometimes as she keeps saying things about forgetting the words for things being dementia & she forgets so many it is a joke. It may not sound it but I am worried for her but it seems hard to picture as anything other than the bossy boots she has always been.

It's very hard not to believe we're invincible sometimes I think!
Right, a list. I've had my tea (pizza, warmed in the microwave, and while it was tasty, I don't feel like I've had enough! Didn't have much for dinner though, so maybe I need a top up...)
Mr Cheery has gone back out, and I strimmed until the strimmer ran out of fuel 😂 I have more, but it usually lasts about 45 minutes, which is usually about as much jangling and noise as my body can take in one go anyway 😂 Got the front garden done, and a way down the footpath, and up by the washing line and the chicken run, and round the paths in the veg patch - those are the main bits I try to keep on top of anyway. If we get a dry evening in the week I'll do by the hammock, up to the bench, and make a start on the drive, which only really gets done once a year and didn't get done at all last year so it starting to meet in the middle...
But not tonight, and I think my back has had enough of a battering that I'm best off leaving the scything too I think.
So...

As others have said already Cheery thank you for mentioning the NW 8% account. I am not sure if people realise but if you have a joint current account you can both open the 8% account. So you can have one each.

Thanks edwink, no, I didn't realise that, and it's probably too late now - I opened the regular saver as a joint account. Hey ho - not in a position to be wanting to lock away another £200 a month anyway on top of the other regular savers. Definitely thanks for mentioning though!

Right, bank shenanigans sorted out.
* £400 transferred from co-op to NW (to cover Sept and Oct payments).
* £200 sent to NW regular saver for September payment.
* Standing order set up for £200 from NW to regular saver, starting 1st October.
* £1000 normal payment amended to be £1250 from next payment (21st Oct). This covers the £1000 which is required to be paid in each month to keep the account open (immediately transferred back to the main co-op current account), plus £200 for the new regular saver (which will cover the November payment onwards), and £50 for the existing one. Not amending the date of that lump sum - it goes out of the main co-op account after my wages have safely gone in.
* £50 regular saver transfer date amended from 18th to 1st from the October payment, after someone on here mentioned interest is calculated daily, so best to add from 1st of the month (thank you!)
Phew! I think that's that all sorted out, but I'll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks to make sure everything behaves as I expect it should.4 -
Morning MSE chums!
Gosh it's a soggy one today! Fortunately I am working at home, and already cosy with hot water bottle and fleecy poncho. Currently 13.9 degrees in here but let's see if it warms up a bit... At the minute I'm warm enough, it's often my hands that get chilly, in which case I'll dog out my turtledove gloves 😁
Had a little excursion this morning to take the mouse we caught overnight up to the layby on the moors 🙄 It was a very active and cheeky one, far more of a nuisance than others we've had 🙄😂 Hoping that's the last one now for a while, but I doubt it 😂
Right, best get on with some work now the laptop has booted up...4 -
Oh! And prolific is up to £25.10 with £2.40 to clear - once cleared, that's £27.50, which is very close to my £30 target before Saturday! 😃
Will I beat it?? Maybe!
Doesn't look like I'll make it to 1P payout this month sadly. I have the occasional day where there are 12 surveys in a row, but I'm sitting at £17.10 this morning, so unlikely to get another £7.90 in 5 days. But it shouldn't be too far into October!
Mr Cheery has expressed an interest in 1P too, although I expect he'll get infuriated with some of the questions 😂 Might get that set up tonight and he can see.4 -
Lol, yes the questions on 1P can be utterly ridiculous.
Fingers crossed for your Prolific target - it should be doable. I should try and get to £50 really - will see how it is today. I do find I have to be at my computer, which I only am if I have work I should be doing.... and then the work is better paid!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Yes, that's the issue I have! We're still sharing a laptop too, so I don't usually have access to that in the evenings as it's being used as a TV 😂
£50 is super impressive though!3
