Well, here I am again doing a silly dance around the city. Car dropped at the garage, now walking to work, via the supermarket as we NEED to go food shopping and the only thing I could rustle up at 10pm last night was previously boiled eggs and raw peppers and that alone isn't going to last me the day.
So, today. Walk to work, meeting at 9.30, walk/bus to another meeting for 11, and then back by 1.30, another meeting 2-3.30, and another at 3.45 🙄 then back to collect the car. A bitty day - I'm hoping to get a few things done, but looking at that list I'm not sure when!
Should be home early tonight though, so need another list:
* banks/YNAB
* catch up on blog posts
* 15 mins tidying
* check greenhouse plants
* 15 mins in the garden
* washing on
* get poor neglected flute out
* pay a couple of bills that arrived yesterday
* meal plan
* shopping list
All that is assuming that I can have the car back today, of course. If not, Mr Cheery is coming into town later anyway, so I'll have to hang around until he's finished (about 7pm) and go home with him.
Right, best get on 🙄9 -
Ha, so much for my plan! 😂
Collected car - had a new wheel bearing and some engine tinkering and seems fine now - £168, and it could have been a lot worse.
But I'd not quite finished something I needed to get done to print at work - my printer at home couldn't make a good job of it, and I'm not in again til Tuesday, so I went back to the office after I'd got the car, and didn't get home til 8pm, about the same time as Mr Cheery.
Watered the greenhouse - chard is getting bigger, and there are courgettes and beans starting to sprout now too 😊😊
Started messing with photos for blog post, but then decided on an early night instead.
Going to leave the phone in another room today I think- I've been staring at it for hours already and not getting anything done!6 -
Early nights & some distraction free quiet - sounds like my kind of downtime! Both such good choices Cheery
You've reminded me that the garden is parched & needs a water - I've been concentrating on the pots and they are fabulous, but the boarders seem a bit neglected!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I'm watering the seedlings in the greenhouse, but I'm afraid everything else is fending for itself!
So today has actually been quite productive, thankfully. We even went and did a much-needed food shop this evening, so that was £68 spent in Mr A. All stocked up nicely now.
I had some kefir in the fridge that I'd left too long in the jar and it was too strong to be drinkable. Strained it into a jug before we went away and left it in the fridge. No idea what you'd even call it at this point - buttermilk? Runny yogurt? Off milk?! 😂 Smelled strong but not offensive, so I made it into pancakes. Ate four about three hours ago and no ill effects yet so fingers crossed as there's still plenty left in the fridge...
We're slowly working our way through the last of the eggs from our chickens 🙄 I boiled 10 the other day and we ate them over the weekend. Used 3 in the pancake mix, and now there are 10 left. It's going to be a sad day when we use the last one 😕 Not bought an egg for five years so it's going to be a bit of a shock! 😱 A lot cheaper than keeping chickens though 🙄
Booked swimming for first thing tomorrow - I've not done any exercise since the end of IronMay and while it's been nice to have a rest, I don't want to get back into my slovenly habits 🙄 So a swim tomorrow, and maybe a bike ride over the weekend 😊8 -
Morning chums 😊
A lovely sunny one today, and I don't have to go ANYWHERE. Mr Cheery is going out this morning, and we have friends coming over later, but I don't need to leave the homestead at all, which is extremely cheerful 😊
So, a plan.
9-10 STARTING WELL
* take 'before' photos for my new focus on healthy eating and exercise 🙄
* exercise video
* breakfast
10-11.30 HOUSE
* check if we have clean bedding for the spare bed - if not, get it in the wash
* flylady weekly home blessing hour 😂 Yes, I will put the podcast on - I find it encouraging to have someone telling me what to do 😂
* washing hung up
11.30-12.30 ADMIN & FOOD
* banking
* sort out food - my lunch and prep for this evening
12.30-1.30 TOOT!
* an hour of flute playing
1.30-2.30 EXTRA HOUSE
* Anything extra that needs doing to guest rooms that didn't get done this morning, also nice things like flowers and candles etc
2.30 ONWARDS - GARDEN & POTTERING
Not sure what time friends are arriving yet (we said after 3, but they might come later and stay over, not sure). Hopefully by 3 the house will be like a show home, food will all be ready (not doing anything complicated, throwing some veggie sausages in a pan in the garden). And I will have had some time to donsome flute playing and pottering too.
Attached times to everything so I don't just sit here going down Internet rabbit holes and find myself not even having had breakfast at 11am... 🙄😂7 -

Those rabbit holes are dark and troublesome! I'm using the p0m0d0r0 system today to keep myself on the straight and narrow! One load is done and up outside in the sunshine & the other in the machine now! Need to get myself out of pjs and into the shower, but sitting in the summerhouse with a cuppa coffee has been taking precedence - LOL

Sounds like a lovely yet productive day planned. If I do jobs first thing I'm really motivated. If I waste time in the morning I find it so difficult to get started.I've cleaned what I need to and am headed into the garden shortly!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!6

Thanks all, I think you're all already having more productive days than me! 😂 I've done the 'starting well' section, but not even started on the second one, and I'm supposed to be at the end of it!! 😱
Right, shower, and then moving at double speed!6 -
LOL - I've done both loads of laundry & hung to dry but am on my third cuppa - have moved inside to watch some TV - which is a dark hole unto itself - LOL - still in pjs - OH is all dressed and waiting for me to go for a walk! - started off well, but that double speed may have to be triple in my case!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
