I would definitely count your walking at this point. I mean who hasn't walked at some point during a marathon anyway?
Staying injury free is more important and that includes exhaustion.

Not injuring yourself is definitely more important than worrying about the strict definition of whether the way you're clocked up miles is "the right one" or not. Time on feet is time on feet ultimately - and the miles are just the same distance whether you complete them running, walking or something in between.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you all xx
Clearly I should have listened to you lot, rather than my sister, who basically said "just finish it properly and stop trying to cheat, you big skiver" 🙄😂😂
So I got all tagged up this morning and went along the sea front and along the cliff tops for 4 miles, then turned round and came back 😊😊
And am now hobbling round Whitby 😂 well, currently sat in a cafe of course 😂
Part of the reason I did the challenge in the first place was to get me back into going out for regular exercise, so while putting my kit on and going for a determined walk with job breaks did feel like that, ambling round the shops didn't (even though yes, it's still walking!)
Probably feels like an arbitrary difference, but I'm glad I finished like this - I think it would have felt slightly unfinished otherwise...
Don't think I've done any permanent damage but I'm very much enjoying a sit down 😂
Mr Cheery has a problem with his tooth, so we'll be leaving our holidays tomorrow and driving a 4 hour round trip to the dentist 🙄 Hard work being on holiday sometimes!14 -
Oh well done! And I absolutely get you on feeling like you wanted to finish it "properly" - I can't really not can I as I am of course the person who injured myself good and proper trying to do an ambitious distance challenge a while ago...clearly my "sensible" advice was very much of the "do as I say, not as I do" variety!
That's a blow about Mr Cheery's tooth though - are you just going there and then back to the holiday? Hopefully so!

Ha, I too give great exercise advice to other people 😂
Yes, definitely coming back on holiday! Dentist is near work, so much closer to holiday than home is. Mid afternoon tomorrow, so we might go out for breakfast first then head over, and still be back here in time for tea. Might try to squeeze in a quick trip to see friend who's still in hospital while we're there (but that will depend on timings).
Got a definite sense of achievement now though 😊😊😊
Wish the holiday flat had a bath 😂😂 Shower is just NOT cutting it. A nice bath will be the first thing I do when we get home!9 -
Ha - we never seem to end up staying in places with baths these days which is a shame - while I nearly always shower rather than bath at home, I do like a nice bath on holiday!
Very glad to hear you'll be returning to the holiday vibe once the dentist is done!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well done to the finishing properly Cheery - totally get that ambling around the shops wouldn't feel as if it had counted. Boo to the tooth problems for Mr Cheery, but glad to hear it's only a temporary break in your holiday.
I hope your legs/feet improve with some rest and you're no longer hobbling tomorrow. We're camping near Whitby at the end of next month so do share any gems you find!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

If you go past any health food type shops, i massively recommend horse chestnut cream - magical stuff for sore feet and legs (avoid the gel version, doesn’t seem to work as well and leaves me feeling sticky, the cream is much better).KKAs at 15.07.25:

Love your sister's advice! That's the type of advice I would give my sister too!!
I am also one for giving great exercise advice to others while not listening to it myself. My physio rolls his eyes at me when I go in with an injury. His first question is always "when is your next race then?" because he knows I don't tell him about injuries unless I need him to sort it/tape it asap for a race
That's rubbish about Mr C's tooth. Hope it gets sorted asap and doesn't cause him too much pain.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2004 -
Enjoy your holibobs Cheery, hope Mr C tooth sorted very soon. Congratulations on finishing the challenge, very impressive.5
