I have made considerable progress. Well, I've done the flylady podcast anyway! Cleaned the kitchen, changed the bed (I realised the last guests who'd slept in the spare bed were the same ones coming tonight, so I decided my need was greater than theirs and changed our bed instead π). Hoovered everywhere and mopped the kitchen.
Mr Cheery's just rung to say he's on the way back, so got about an hour before he arrives. Not sure what time guests are coming yet.Β
Just sat out in the sunshine with a cuppa and my book for 10 mins ππ then I'm going to
* empty bins
* spend 15 mins total shifting stuff in both spare rooms
* make some lunch
Then get on with some tooting I think.
There's a plant stall on today where a local group are selling seedlings for donations. Given the dire state of my own seedlings I'd been planning to stock up... But I'm not sure I can bring myself to get in the car ππ I have so few days when I don't get in the car for one reason or another, I feel like a day I can avoid it is quite precious... So I might have to take my chances with my own... There would only be an hour left by the time I got there anyway... We'll see how i feel (and it might depend when visitors are arriving)Β
A cheerful day, even if I'm not going quite as quickly as I'd hoped π7 -

Certainly is Beanie, and I've had another one today! ππ
Nice leisurely afternoon yesterday, and then friends turned up at tea time. Had a bbq, then sat outside til, well, I went to bed at midnight, but Mr Cheery was still up at 3am π
Another leisurely one today, hanging out with friends this morning, then pottering this afternoon and then band practice.Β
No money spent, and all cheerful π7 -

Not so cheery today as I'm at work π But I've finished the job I'd allocated the whole day to (just in case) so just having a cuppa then going to have a nice bit of a catch up on other things. And I'll be able to eat lunch outside in our little sunny work lunch spot π
Got the house to myself this evening, so some plans:
* exercise video
* make food for tomorrow (I've got lunch provided at work, but want tea ready for when I get home)
* banking & YNAB
* water seedlings in the greenhouse
* pot up supermarket basil
* move fig tree to down by the house
* 15 mins in the sewing room - it's relatively tidy now but all the boxes etc are on the desk and I want to set up the sewing machines!
* ring my mum, probably while I'm doing the watering.
That'll probably do i think...8 -
Urgh - I got home an hour ago and I'm completely wiped out! Went to water the greenhouse before I even came into the house, so at least that's done. Fig tree isn't getting moved as we're currently in a thunderstorm - it can stay in the greenhouse for a while longer!Β
Not done anything else from my list! Grateful for having made tea last night at least.Β
Trying to decide whether to push myself to do anything off the list, or actually whether I'd benefit more from just curling up on the sofa for a very early night!Β
Maybe I'll make a cuppa, get up into the sewing room, and ring my mum. Might end up doing some pottering up there while I'm talking, and that might energise me to at least make some food for tomorrow or do the banking. And then I'll get in my nightie and have a super early night!7 -
Sorry to hear youβve had a long day Cheery! I hope some gentle pottering and a chat with your mum gives you the energy you need to get the other necessary jobs done. Thank you all, but sadly my early night did not materialise! I lay around on the sofa for a while, then got a bit of a second wind and did my exercise video and made breakfast.Β Β
The lights in one part of the house didn't work, so I messed about switching trip switches on and off for a while but didn't fix it - couldn't even see which circuit they were meant to be on. Boiler wasn't working either, but as that's at the same end of the house, it was probably wired into the same mystery circuit, and I'd try turning the whole lot off and on again - but once it wasn't dark and I wasn't home alone.
About 11pm I went to reset the router, as the lights on the extender thing wouldn't stop flashing - Internet is pretty wafty here and I'd not clocked it wasn't working. Found this π±
Very pretty, but π± I assume lightning came down the phone cable - wire is completely disintegrated into small plastic pieces all over the wall and curtains, back of the router is black, as is the phone socket in the wall, and several other things (bits of paper, plastic box) have black charred bits too π±
Clearly could have been a LOT worse, but it's going to need a bit of sorting out - which I could do without, as I'm running an event today and got less than 4.5 hours sleep, because when Mr Cheery got in at 12.30 we discovered his laptop wouldn't turn on π± Same end of the house as the lights, but the opposite end to the router, weird as everything else works fine.
Anyway, there was a LOT of faffing about, changing fuse wire in the other fuse box (which I'd entirely forgotten about) - the wire had blown but fixing it didn't make any difference, so unless Mr Cheery realises something obvious that we've missed while I'm out, we'll have to get an electrician π
Yawn. I am so grateful it wasn't worse, but not looking forward to the tediousness of sorting it out. Could also do with a shower, but the boiler won't turn on, and the electric one at the other end of the house is being used as a tool shed at the minute ππΒ
Right, best have a quick wash and ring the broadband people as a starting point! (Oh, and check outside!)10 -
