It does look like feathers!
Ooh, I tell you another win today. We paid stupid money for an induction hob with dials when we had the new kitchen 🙄 and the paint has started to come off 😱
Bought it from Boots Kitchen Appliances, and finally got round to emailing them this morning - turns out it has a 2 year warranty (which is what I was hoping) - hooray!
Still have to p*ss about going to the manufacturer myself 🙄 But it looks like we might actually get a repair/replacement so that's good news! More admin though, yawn.
Going to celebrate/console myself with a quick, much-needed shower 😂9 -
Blimey! That lightning thing was a shocker! Literally! (I saw feathers on the wall too - it wasn’t until I saw the shocked face emoji that I twigged what was going on.) Well done on the resetting of everything electrical. Do you think having surge protector, wandering leads would help protect your equipment such as laptops in future? I’m not sure if you get a lot of lightning where you are - you are quite elevated I think?
Annoying about the hob paint - that’s pretty poor, I’d always thought of that being a good make too, but thank goodness the warranty still applies. Well worth the admin hassle for which I send you good wishes! 😉

We are quite elevated yes, but obviously never had anything like this happen before, so never quite sure how much it's worth doing. Will investigate. We're certainly unplugging things more than we did! 🙄
Thanks for the good admin wishes. Yes, I'd thought of that as a good make too - we only went for it because it was the only induction hob with dials, not buttons, and we were horrified by the price 😱😂 But that partly reflects the fact that we'd never bought a new hob before 😂 Last cooked we bought was a £50 standalone gas one from a charity shop 😂 Anyway, admin will have to wait for the weekend, off to work today. Lots of travelling about this week!3 -
One of the benefits of my OH and I both being women is that either of us can sort out these sort of issues

Ha, yes, that is a great benefit! 😂😂 I did say "shall I just go into a different room and put a low voice on??" 🙄 Could have just got a random man walking past to say "talk to my wife" 🙄 I had the phone on speaker and all the security answers written down anyway so I could point at them when Mr Cheery forgot them! 🙄😂 Although clearly she only asked our address and he did remember that 😂😂4

Just catching up...
Eek Cheery! I also thought you were showing us feathers until it twigged!! I'm so glad it wasn't worse. Although boo! to the router people having to talk to Mr C then asking simple questions. I also don't understand why these things need to have one name on them. A lot of these type of things are usually used by "couples" (roommates/partners/family members) so it makes sense to have more than one person named on household things.
@Staffordia that is a benefitalthough like Cheery said, what's to stop her asking a random guy to pretend to be Mr C? A colleague, a different family member. How would they actually know? Apart from the fact it's a male voice? Ridiculous.
Ooh not good with that hob Cheery. We've had induction hobs since DD was a newborn (DH thought it was a safety issue) and we have never had any issues with paint peeling. Although in fairness we've never had that brand before. Hope it's simple to sort out for you.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2005 -

Morning MSE chums 😊
Another warm and sunny one here I think 😊😊
Been a perfectly cheerful but quite long week here so far. I've not worked at home at all - 2 days in my office, 1 day at an event in town, and yesterday at a conference in London. So a fair bit of travelling, although work-wise things have largely been productive and cheerful 😊
Mr Cheery is off to see his dad today, and I'm not going with him this time. I went last Friday, and given all this week's travelling, I confess I really don't fancy another 5 hours in the car. I also would quite like to hang out at home for a while!
So I have the house to myself for the day 😁 So obviously I need a plan, or else I'll spend the whole day lazing around on the Internet like I have so far this morning 🙄
FIRST THING
* exercise video
* shower
* breakfast
* washing on
LATER MORNING
* plotting and scheming in cafe, including
* banks & YNAB
* Meal planning
* then quick trip to the supermarket
EARLY AFTERNOON
* washing hung out
* dinner
* flylady weekly home blessing
ADMIN PHASE (slotted in according to weather/tiredness)
* contact manufacturer re cooker
* try on remaining clothes order and figure out how to send bits back
* figure out the deal with Mr Cheery's credit card pin - got him an additional card for my AMEX account so we can both rack up points. Changed the pin online, but apparently you first need to enter the old pin in a cash point . Finally found the original pin, but now can't remember the exact instructions 🙄
* pretty sure I'd been putting off something else - go back through planner to figure out what it was...
LATER AFTERNOON
* water greenhouse
* other garden pottering depending on heat
EVENING
* bit of batch cooking
Should set me up nicely for the weekend and next week 😊5 -
Well, the day is not quite going as planned...
I have done an exercise video, and am dressed and breakfasted, so that's a start 😂😂
Then a BT engineer knocked on the door - looks like everyone on our phone line was got by the lightning, so while he's out fixing someone else, he thought he'd check our line too. Which is good, because he's still here nearly 2 hours later and hasn't made it work yet 😂😂
Still, he's better equipped than we would have been, and it saves waiting in for him another day. I've been pottering round tidying while he fixes it.
I also cheekily asked about wireless range extenders, as ours has always been crao and stopped properly working a few weeks ago. Apparently I need a mesh system - after a bit of investigating I've ordered one for £42 so we'll see if that works. No point going for a fancy pants one as the broadband speed is so low out here anyway it'd be completely overspecified.
Right, might as well get on with banking and meal planning while I'm stuck in the house!7
