Miró said:Floss said:Miró did you ever find out if that "Dior" bag had sold?
I went for a short stroll to the shops this afternoon and had a shufti round the Oxfam shop. I noticed a dress in a lovely blue and green print hanging on the rail which looked very promising but once I touched it I realised it was made of the sort of synthetic that is vilely uncomfortable to wear. Further examination showed it wasn't lined, didn't have pockets and the label was Shein which is interesting because they're such a relatively new company that I wouldn't have expected their clothes to be donated for a while yet.
Anyway, I found this black tray, £2.99, which is a perfect duplicate for the red and grey ones we're given at my evening cooking class so now I can practise my mise en place better at home and I also fell for another biscuit book, £1.99.
I did try to pop into the Barnardo's shop but they had shut at bang on 5pm so I just had a quick look in the window and spotted this copy of The Food Lab for which they want £10 so I'm going to think about it overnight and maybe I'll give them a ring in the morning. I can't track down the other book in the photo and couldn't see the spine from outside so if anyone recognises the cover I'd be grateful for the information.

@goldfinches, will we be seeing you on the Great British Bakeoff any time in the near future? A win could open up opportunities to pay for your baking book habit!
(I hope you get the books you're after).

I bought a as-new pair of men's navy chinos (Next) for £2.00 Air Ambulance.
And a (look away now, Brie) silk scarf in vivid colours for £2.50 Lighthouse charity shop.
The colours are much nicer in real life.

Does anyone know anything about Moorcroft pottery? All I know is from when it is featured on the Antiques Roadshow!! In the Brain Tumour shop yesterday they had two small Moorcroft vases, one about 12cm tall and squat and the other about 15cm and more elongated. I think they were a matching pair colourwise, navy background with big bright pink flowers and very pretty. The smaller one was priced at £60 and the taller at £80. Couldn't have a proper surreptitious squiz at them as they were in a locked cabinet but just wondered if they were a sensible price? From a brief interweb search those appear to be the going prices so not great bargains, (if genuine!!). Didn't take that much notice of them at the time but I now have a 'brain-worm' and can't stop thinking about them
@Pollycat Love the scarf!!6 -
Amazing scarf @Pollycat! Gorgeous.
@Miró, I'm no expert but I do like Moorcroft. There's just a 'look' to it... no real idea of values nowadays though I imagine those are the going prices. As with lots of collectibles, it's likely earlier pieces will be more 'desirable', depending on whether they are bought as collector's pieces or just because you like them.
I'd say if you like them enough and want them enough and have the spare money, they are a small investment. I think genuine ones all have a stamp (see for instance How Can You Identify Moorcroft Pottery? (reference.com) ).There are collectors' groups on Facebook that might be more informative than me!
P.S. I found this which is informative.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

You do see a lot of Moorcroft, also on Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and The Real Deal.
It's lovely glossy pottery (I don't have any but I do have quite a lot of Cobridge Pottery which was a sister company to Moorcroft but only lasted 8 years from 1998 to 2005).
Have a look on eBay for idea on prices.
You might be able to identify the pattern. Some are common, some rarer.
I think the marks on the bottom are quite important.
Condition also.
Looking on eBay, I'd say the prices were the going rate (probably where the charity shop got the prices from) but it depends on the pattern and condition.5 -
Here is some of
my Cobridge:
Avian traveller design, arctic terns.
The picture is a signed limited edition copy of the original artwork.
