I was going to go to the hospice charity shop but apparently that has closed down as the volunteer in the Sense shop told me.
I bought a navy New Look jumper, a dark grey cardigan for me and a pair of grey gloves for my husband as he forgot to bring his with him and it was quite cold that day. It all came to £10.:)
There was a lot more I would have bought but I thought we were going to some bars afterwards so I didn't want to lug stuff around. Typically then we didn't go into any bars so I could have bought more!
I did go to Barnados in Southend about a month ago as we went there to see a film at the cinema. I bought some gloves there too that day as I had forgotten mine and being by the sea is much colder than being in London.5 -
Hi there chazzer-lovers
Long time lurker and shopper here!
I do a trawl of the local charity shops most weeks (sometimes more frequently) mainly for old books. Got a couple in Bewdley today plus a checked shirt (only Tu, £4) in Kemp hospice and a brown slightly padded gilet in Happy Staffie - on their £1 rail not bad for M&S Per Una!!
Love reading about people bargains!

A quick gallop round the St Gemma's 99p charity shop in Otley today got me an M & S, Supima fine white cotton long sleeved t-shirt for 99p - great as an extra layer under jumpers/shirts/dresses and a pair of Jana, (German make), ballet flats in two tone beige, BNWT for £2.99. They charge a little extra for things deemed to be 'designer' or 'quality'! These will be very useful come spring as I'm starting to feel my high heel days are over after living in trainers and comfy flats since lockdown.

Love Jana shoes slightly wider fit. The designer discount store I work at on a casual basis sells them.5

I've not been here long, only 8 months or so... but heaps better than where I came from!
For such a small little place, what are the chances or 3 locals and a regular part timer!Wealth is not measured by currency6 -
Well, the town is quite small to have all the facilities it has (and had long before relatively recent new housing) so I guess it's going to attract a certain social profile of people, but what that might be...? I'm guessing we are all here because we or our other halves have jobs that drew us in, and this town has quite a few of those service industry type workplaces. Also a money-centred forum is more likely to have people who have some things in common... both of which narrow the field very slightly, but not all that much! Perhaps it's more to do with us having a lot of charity shops!
I do think the world is smaller than we imagine. Just looking at online examples, I spotted someone I knew from a very different forum on MSE years ago - different user name but I knew them well enough to be 99% sure it was the same person. Then I was on a very large FB group and spotted a colleague who lives nearby in town! We had a nice chat online before returning to our 'real' lives. I've also had people from very different times and locations on FB who turn out to know each other.
I wonder how many links there are that we never find out? Quite a lot, I'm sure.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Exactly.
Seen it in real life too, meeting people we knew from other towns while on holiday far away etc!
