Wednesday2000 said:OMG you looked amazing! I hadn't heard of Antenna before. How long was your real hair?
Wednesday, it was just above shoulder length. Back then - not sure what's advised today - you were supposed to use fabric conditioner to wash your 'hair' 😂6 -
I have a 1920's weekend next weekend and, although the evening dresses are sorted ( from what I already had), daywear is a little more tricky.
A (not that) brief foray round our local chazzers netted me a velvet maxi-skirt with floral embellishments, a black jersey dress to go under the kimono I inherited from MIL, a beaded belt, peach coloured blouse with cutwork lapels, black silk kaftan-type thing and raspberry-coloured jumper to go over the blouse.
All in all under £50 and all wearable after the event.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

@liberty_lily - you look wonderful. I don't recall hearing about the fabric conditioner rinse back then but do remember friends setting their spiky bits with sugar water plus copious hairspray.
@C_J - brilliant bargains and I'm envying you the baking tin.
I had both the flu and Covid vaccinations last Friday afternoon and have been feeling rather under the weather ever since. On the way back home that afternoon I dropped into my favourite BHF shop and found 2 pairs of Craghopper trousers BNWT on their priciest rail so snapped them up but haven't tried them on yet. I paid £20 per pair but they were new and will last years so if they fit I'll keep them I think. I'll snap a photo in the daylight tomorrow to show the colours as I haven't got round to getting off the sofa today, they're this sort of style I think Women's Kiwi Pro II Winter Lined Trousers - Graphite | Craghoppers UK9 -
@goldfinches I have a couple of pairs of those but not the winter lined ones, they're really comfy.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks @goldfinches 😊 Yes, we had friends who did their spiky bits like that too! My hair (real and faux!) was back-combed to within an inch of its life then held in place with a ton of hairspray 😆
Btw, those pics of 1970s Spitalfields market are amazing - DH and I both thoroughly enjoyed perusing them! Thanks for sharing.4 -
My husband popped into a charity shop yesterday and got me a golden coloured picture frame for £1.50 for a print I bought on Etsy.
We were going to go to the beach today, but the weather is rainy so I quickly went to the local hospice shop to look for some men's t-shirts as I wear them in bed over my thermal leggings and tops as any extra layer. I got three t-shirts for me, a Coca Cola one, a pale pink rugby t-shirt (?) and a Marvel one. I saw a dark grey Jack Wills jumper in there that I bought for my husband too.2025 GOALS

Now...I know I don't need another coat but...
I found this in my local hospice shop.
It's by Vince Camuto, a Canadian company.
Lovely metallic burgundy, 90% down, 10% feather and super lightweight.
Would be about 250 Canadian dollars, just under £150.
I paid £7.00.
