I will settle for aiming for 15K.

I have been slow to sign up this year. :/ At least I got a round number #40.

Good afternoon all, long time reader of the forum but only occasional poster. I would like to join in to have some accountability for what I do with my money!

I will have a read of this year's current thread for inspiration, but what would be covered by "savings"? Additional payments into my personal pension outside of my monthly employee contribution? Monthly savers? Deposit accounts?

Any tips would be gratefully received.Thank you all  :)
Having read the 2021 thread in the early hours [thanks insomnia!] I have decided on my strategy and set up a spreadsheet. I will include the money paid into my monthly savers from my wages, less anything I need to drip feed from my Marcus account to meet them all. I am currently juggling 11, but have decided not to renew them if the interest rates stay low this year. I will also deduct any other withdrawals from Marcus that are needed to assist with repaying my credit cards. Other savings include interest on said monthly savers, rewards on bank accounts and additional payments into my personal pension, but not the ones deducted from my salary.

No doubt this will change as the year goes on  :)

Thanks to slowlyfading for all the hard work and good luck everybody!

    Hi SF,

Would I be able to join in this year? I'm aiming for £18000 as throwing everything I can towards buying a house in 2023/2024.
    Thanks:)

Could I join? I’ve never done one of these before. Do savings into a LISA count?
I’d like to aim for £8400
@Munchkinsmum - it is really up to the individual as to what they count and tends to depend on where they are in their life. enthusiasticsaver (about three posts before yours) is early retired and explains their strategy, and some are saving for houses, cars, holidays, FIRE (financial independence, retire early) or just bimbling along, and with different amounts available, and different life plans there is no single answer.

Personally (also no longer working) I include S&S ISA dividends that are income but not accumulation ones, the bank rewards, interest and capital I put into RS accounts, anything I move to savings accounts or PB but not the capital growth on equities and funds in ISAs - oh and Tilly Tidying my accounts down to the nearest £10 (or £50 if I am feeling flush) each time a payment goes out
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
    My new diary is here
  • I would like to join this if possible please! another one saving towards a house deposit here with my OH - £15000 is our target for 2022.
    122k mortgage started 10th June 2022.
    Mortgage overpayments in 2022 - £3515
    Mortgage overpayments in 2023 - £600
  • Please can you put me down for £7000? Prioritising paying off my debts at first but in the second half of the year I want to smash my savings goal! :)

I count S&S ISA interest once a year to attempt to stabilise them so use that as a nice bonus in December's report when I'm likely to be putting aside less.

I'm working but actively putting money into a pension as well so I also count these contributions.

As SF says its up to you :)
