Well I had a purge! 2 bin bags of clothes went to charity and OH is grateful for the space!
Tried on loads of things and realised that I had a lot of bias cut dressess which don't flatter my thunder thighs and I don't have need for them any more. I also binned the unflattering jeans I've been wearing for ages. Found a lovely pair of trousers which were beautiful on my if I could get into them so I'm not binnning them as they will be perfect when I can get them on again!
Went to M&S and bought myself a pair of dark bootcut jeans, lovely black linen wide legged cropped trousers and a pretty black and white gypsy style top. I found a couple of nice fitted shirts in the wardrobe so they will go nicely with the jeans and trousers.
What I wanted to get was some cardigans (Michelle Obama style!) but there was nothing in M&S or Tesco next door. Anyone seen nice fitted colourful stylish cardis anywhere?
My other problem is still shoes, atm I can get away with sandals and flip flops but I'm on the hunt for flat shoes that don't look so frumpy.
I think I'm having an identity crisis atm, SAHM so find it hard to know how to dress. If I was at work my wardrobe would be different and have a direction but right now I'm more like scummy mummy than yummy mummy!0 -
Wedding 1 is in July - old school friend - budget £50 for both weddings. Acessories? what are they?!! I am 34 and possibly still a tomboy - live in either leathers (ride a motorbike) or sports kit though do like killer heels. Like the green idea, not so sure about the shift dress, am a 'ruler' if that makes sense - straight up straight down:rolleyes:. However I bow to you ladies experience and taste and will start hunting. Getting stressed about clothes shopping already I would rather visit the dentist
.
Wedding 2 is halloween and on a ship - I might get away with my old favourite for this one - rig which means I might not have to faff around trying to find a dress. However like the idea of a shrug to go over the other one so i have a back up plan just in case.
Thankyou for the ideas, and if anyone else comes up with anything I am all ears.....0 -
Right wardrobe sorted now, a massive pile for charity shop/ebay and quite a few bits in the dustbin now.
Sorted out drawers too, now know what I have and what fits and what I will wear.
All ready for looking for a few new tops and a decent pair of jeans and trousers from ebay and a decent cardi style thing in new flattering colours
Many thanks Sharron for your kind thoughts and words and directing me in the right way. I have put this off for 2 years and it is done now! Yipee!! :j:jfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Ocemeer, perhaps if you got a shift dress (or any other type of dress) and pulled in your waist with a belt?????? With a budjet of £50 perhaps start with Primark?? When i was in there a few weeks ago they had some really nice wedding/formal style dresses. I would thoroughly recommend their accesories. Peacocks are alway good too, you can shop online with them aswell. Or perhaps if you don't like dresses , a pair of capri smart style trousers, and killer heels, avoid black, i bet you'd look fab with long legs in that combination!!
Love SharronSometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -

I had a colour consultation a couple of years ago. It was a one-day seminar held at the local college and cost me £9! There were about 20 of us all having our colours 'done'. The colour swatches were extra, but I've found them very handy. I'm a cool winter.0 -
Really enjoying this thread, but because we don't have anywhere specific to discuss MS fashion , it is already a multi-stranded thread, with several interesting themes which would make good threads of their own.
What about bombarding the MSE Site Feedback forum with our requests for a fashion sub-board or better still, a dedicated MSE Fashion, Beauty and Fitness Forum (this could incorporate all the slimming club threads, tips as well!)?0 -
Bronnie fab idea, i love clothes, fashion, beauty, and moneysaving!!!Sometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0

Me too! I think it would be a really popular forum. When you look at the forums on MSE we've got atm, it seems quite an omission not to have one for Fashion, Beauty and Fitness0

Fab idea, how do we bombard them?No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

If you go to Site Suggestions and Feedback Forum, near the bottom of the Forums list, I have just posted a new thread called "Suggestion! Fashion Beauty and Fitness Forum". Perhaps anyone who thinks it would be a good idea might like to post on that thread to say so!0
