Taken an abundance of painkillers so I am going for a shower now before they all kick in and I become a useless potato.
I have to check and finish all the Harry Potter sets.. 6 of them need tassels and 3 need pompoms..
I have ashing to hang up to dry and the DW to feed and the kitchen to S&S .. but I can't see any of it getting done.
I also need 3 drs appointments. I really wish I coud just make 2 adjoining appointments and go in and speak to a person it is so much easier than discussing over the phone, in the street or gerden because the signal is non-existent in the house.. I've been trying to get to discuss the ENT referral for a full year now.

[I somehow lost the paragraph which I had written in answer to HB's quote about her frogs - basically I said that I have the same problem]
We have beautiful sunshine today, with hardly any wind. It would be a good day for putting up the outdoor lights, but I have to go out at 1.00 to a meeting so need to get lunch first.
DH put himself back to bed after breakfast and has only just got up again. The dabbing of calamine lotion along with the usual palaver has taken another 3/4 hour out of my day. I have ordered a spray which might penetrate his hairiness better
Next I must send an overdue thank-you note, two cards and some emails which have been on my to-do list sine the 1st of the month. But I have coffee and gingernuts (yes, even though lunchtime is looming - no wonder I'm not slinky), so they might spur me on

Afternoon all
Most of today’s list done during my break from the paid stuff. Warmer here today so I managed a short walk this morning, it was good to get some fresh air before settling down at my desk. My in tray is also teetering so I should tackle at least some of that this afternoon, will aim for just 15 mins and see how I get on… I hate paperwork.
wm has been run and it’s on the airer, yesterday’s laundry sorted and away / in the airing cupboard as needed
weigh in for me tonight for mission slinky, hoping for a good result.
hugs to all x11 -
Afternoon,
Back from a lovely and long overdue lunch with friend. 2 years of catching up done - children (all very close in age), jobs (similar but now on completely different scales, including in pay!) and life in general.
Got home, folded yesterday’s, now finally dry, washing into the airing cupboard, rehung today’s wet washing which DH had thrown at the indoor line (that is how it looked, anyway), changed the bedding, filled wm for tomorrow.
I had an idea to sort out the C presents that I have bought this afternoon, to see whose is missing and whose is wip, ie still looks like a ball of wool. The insurance renewal is calling me, but I’m so not motivated to sort that.
BadCat - I meant to the other day - well done on your amazing sw weight loss. I have literally eaten half my body weight in naughty but nice things today (she says, stuffing a piece of cake in with her afternoon cuppa…)12 -
Thanks Fayolle, slow and steady on the weight loss but I am trying to remember that I didn’t put it all on overnight so it isn’t going to come off that way! Some paperwork tackled this afternoon, still more to go, supper prepped in advance for tomorrow plus some gone in to the freezer for another time.
heading out for a bit now then I shall curl up with my book when I get back x11 -
Builder came so we now have about 2/3 of a patio; with any luck he may finish tomorrow. The slabs are bigger than I imagined - we bought a mixed size 'patio pack' - so Mr N is desperately hoping I will like it. I'm not very artistic or imaginitive so I'll sort of look at a plan and get some idea of what things will be like, say fine, then things won't look at all as I expected. That happened in spectacular style when we had some curtains made from some beautiful fabric; I assumed (knowing very little about sewing or any arrows which may have been on the sample) that the stripes were vertical. When the seamstress carefully unwrapped and hung them, my face fell a mile as the stripes were horizontal. I can't remember if I actually cried, but we're talking well over 10 yrs ago and I am still disappointed every time I look at them, even though the fabric is still beautiful.
Went for a gym swim, coffee with gym buddies.
Took a few photos on the way home of the 'Yarn Bombers' knitted decorations on post boxes - they do them every year and they are lovely https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/christmas-2021-secret-society-hertford-6277282
Wrote a load more Christmas cards. Mr N wrapped some presents.
Went up to the loft to survey Christmas stuff, brought a couple of things up but we don't decorate till about 12th so the rest can stay up there.
Sorted out a load of letters and parcels for posting.
Did a zoom Bible group.
Did a bit more of a report which I am determined to finish tonight.
Need to prepare paperwork for the next 2 days, RIGHT NOW.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.12 -
Morning all
Narco a bit different to your curtain story but when we bought our first house I spent ages choosing wallpaper for the kitchen (back then wallpaper was the done thing). It was expensive and MIL who is an expert decorator came and carefully papered the kitchen for us. The minute the first strip went on I hated it, and I hated it until the day we could justify stripping it off. In fact there is a picture of DS1 on his first birthday and all I can see is that wallpaper.
No paid stuff for me today, I am going out later to deliver Dads birthday present and get a couple of C presents. Morning workout done, and a little lie in had. I am not good at relaxing but I am going to try!
Fayolle DS1 came home at the weekend and keeps messaging about random stuff like what he is having for tea, or what the weather is doing. This means he is thinking about things but cant talk about it directly.

Personally I would have assumed curtains would be striped vertically...
Well I am not a work because I've not been asked to cover for the first time in a while. And I don't know what to do first there is so much to do! I did a double take at my overtime hours. And I worked out the gross. The nett will bear no resemblance to the gross, sadly. It is (in my heart) my extra contribution to the NHS who have looked after me so well and tested me for everything going this year. If I thought it was to be used to prevent desperate refugees safely reaching our shores I wouldn't work an extra minute.

Thank you Honey Bear10 -
100% with you on that sentiment, Valli. A donation to the RNLI has been made as we have a shop locally.Narco, thank you so much for the yarn bombing link - they're absolutely wonderful! And as for being artistic - you absolutely are because we've all seen your flower/floral arrangements which are beautiful. The In Tray is still teetering, the RoD is still swamped with Frogs in all stages of gestation, the sink and hob have still got the grot and the central heating thermostat is still on the wonk. However, the kitchen floor was swept and washed, laundry has been washed, is drying or has dried, folded and put away. I also brillo'd our loo and the limescale is nowhere near as bad but my arm muscles gave up. Belovéd is away for several hours today so I'm emptied it and filled it with Morribund's finest (?) malt vinegar. Even through a closed door the bedroom the nif coming from the bathroom makes the place smell like a fish and chip shop. I'm also bleaching the mugs that are stained, and am just about to walk the hound now that the sun has come out. Then I think it's In Tray time. *rivet* *rivet*Better is good enough.11

Narco.. why on earth would someone think it was sensible to sew horizontally striped curtains? She was clearly not experienced in soft furnishings.. I would have been furious.. it is common sense surely??? I have never seen horizontally striped curtains, they must be incredibly hard to head and hem properly..
I did once paint the hallway banana yellow.. the decorator got one coat on.. and I went out and bought a different colour and had them redo it.. my hallway is massive.. I felt really mean but I could not have lived with it yellow. I don't even like yellow so have no idea why I picked it in the first place.
2 more presents needed.. One is out of stock everywhere and the other I need OH to sort.. I may as well do it myself and just add his payment info otherwise it won't be sorted ever.
I have a few more bits to knit, some yarn to buy and so much wrapping to get done.
