Thanks Jwil, Lucielle and Edinburgher
Glad the energy discussions are helping.
Had family issues again the last few days... It gets better right?? Some family are coming to offer practical and emotional support tomorrow and then DD should be away for a few days with work etc which will help...
I will bite the bullet and apply for a P1P for me next week. Apparently you have to ring which is a pain. The worst that can happen is they say no - the best would give me an extra £152 per week. Low end would be an extra £60 per week. Worth a shot. Looking on CAB I should also ring my GP and explain how my conditions affect me in case the P1P people call them. It might also be worth including something from my counsellor. If I had P1P - I could afford my counsellor more often which would help a lot and could up my cleaner's hours again which would also be fab - and get support towards the cost. I would argue if I wasn't disabled I probably wouldn't need either. If I did get PIP I would want to try and buy extra holidays at work - so I can rest more. I find full time work hard.
DD should apply for a PIP for her too - particularly the mobility element but also others. She doesn't even remember to put her food away after she's cooked it etc.... etc. etc.
I will get to see my little niece and nephews now they are all covid free again which will be good and get some DIY done with help from BIL.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Would your councillor help you to fill in the PIP forms. I know it isn't the same but my sons mental health visitor helped him with some of his. Any help is after all a bonus!!

I'm pleased you're going to apply for PIP as the ways in which you would utilise the payments are exactly what it is for. Good luck with completing the application and be honest about how your conditions affect you, I appreciate it may be difficult to do so but could help ensure you get the financial support you need to maintain your quality of life both short term and long term. Same for DD.
Pleased you've got family support arriving today and sorry to hear you've had some issues during the last few days. Hope things can be resolved and that you have a good weekend.
Take care of you x6 -
Good luck with the PIP application.
Hope the family issues resolve soon and you can have a restful weekend."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Fingers crossed the PIP application is successful SH, it sounds like the extra money would go a long way to help you with your conditions.Sorry to hear about the family issues, it will be nice to have a bit of support with family members visiting for a while though. xxMortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Good luck with the PIP application- I’m in the process of completing for my mum ( attendance allowance but the principle is the same). They’re very long forms. Have you checked the citizens advice pages to see the questions so you can be fully prepared? As humans tend to downplay our difficulties- you need to remember, in this conversation you have to be honest. You may have started to deem certain things as ‘normal’ but just because you’ve accepted them, doesn’t make it ok.So, on the face of it, you might think you can, for example, cook a meal unaided. But if you need to sit down half way through, that seat is your aid. If you have developed tricks to get through the day and certain activities, they are all aids.Debt Jan 2017 = £42kMay 2022 = £15k3

Thanks @jwil @chicker @DancingInTheRain @badmemory @MeandO I think I should have applied for a PIP years ago. I read through guides last night and there are so many things I could list. Eg I wear ear defenders in pub as the noise hurts and while the dryer and washing machine on or if cleaner is hoovering etc.... Struggle to change a light bulb without breaking it etc... When I get depressed I struggle to cook and eat out more etc and overspend.
I spent years being told I was just awkward and controlling. I stopped even telling myself when light or noise hurt etc or when I struggled to do stuff and just gave up...
If I can get any extra £ it would really help. My take home is just over £2.7k per month but I am spending £200 between my cleaner and my counsellor and this month it will be £240 as I had an emergency session yesterday.
Really hope I get it as would transform my finances.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Reading what you say makes me realise how lucky I am now. I can't stand even the TV on for too long & then only some programmes the extra noise when adverts come on is just a nightmare. It took the first lockdown to make my friend actually realise what I meant about noise hurting my ears. I don't really know what made it dawn on him though. I am much happier with him going out for a drink with friends & then coming back & telling me about it than I am actually going too. We actually went out together last night to a local quiet pub & had a lovely evening until someone started getting loud after a bit too much to drink, not a problem for anybody else obviously or they would have been turfed out, just me!! He just turned to me & said are you ready & went & got my coat. My son lives with headphones on, but I can't stand those on either. I hope this doesn't feel inappropriate.

Thanks @badmemory Glad you have a supportive friend
Sensory processing - not fun when it's out of whack with society... Invisible too... On the tube last weekend the noise was literal agony... I'd forgotten my headphones...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I am so lucky now to be retired because I don't actually HAVE to do anything or go anywhere really unless I choose to & I can pick those quiet times to go. I think I have got worse as I used to commute by train every day & I really don't think I could now. I suspect that it becomes what you are used to. That may well be why people having gone through lockdown are finding it harder to deal with this stuff.
