Every time BG mess up, lodge another complaint. You will end up with a good will payment.
Turn the heating temperature down a bit and if your timer is up to it, do intermittent heating.
Wrap up, layer up, use a hot bot etc.
If you've got a flask, boil enough water for that and your brew, the next few use the water from your flask.
Get a water butt to catch rainwater from your guttering and pipes, the garden will appreciate it in summer.
Use water reducing things to limit that.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.6 -
Thanks MF
I am trying to just use heating in the evening but was so cold today even with elec blanket, extra blanket and an extra jumper I gave in and put it on.
On water it will improve dramatically when DD leaves as she loves baths. I will look into a water butt, not sure where to put it without it blocking a path but would pay for itself year 1.
Hopefully all my energy saving will be worth it. Better than it would be without that's for sure.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

As you know from my diary, we luckily fixed just before this all happened so are protected for the next 20 months or so. As a family of 7 (very energy inefficient people) these figures are a little bit puke inducing. We pay about £175-200 a month with BG, I dread to think what the new figures would be! Maybe I should start saving now?!DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Another one here looking forward to all the bills going down when DD leaves in a few months time. I'm hoping with all the anticipated rises we will be around break even.
Good idea about the flask Moving Forwards, I'm not sure about the water butt - do you have to have your gutter going into it?"Think of many things, do one"

Yes Sandy - you have to feed your gutter in to the water butt.
Good luck to all on reducing their bills. I've signed a petition on ch@ngebd against the mandatory £200 loan and asked for it to be opt in.
Ohsh - I would start saving now. Well done on the fix - although I imagine that meant you were paying more for a while...
I may go in work later - but running late so starting from home at least. I need to catch up some time today / this weekend. I had planned to go back to work after the hygienist the other day but it didn't happen! Oops.

After all the energy saving chat on this thread we've popped our nighttime temperature down to 12 degrees - it kept kicking in at 15 degrees and waking us up at about 4 in the morning (light sleepers).
I did not realise just how much wholesale electricity costs are going up by, can't figure it out for the life of me as we seem to be swimming in renewables these days? I know it's a bit of a spend money to save money solution, but we're still big fans of our solar panels, even though they definitely haven't delivered quite what was predicted. That's not the fault of the sun, more the salesman who said we were facing S, whereas it's quite obviously SEStill, we get about 2,500 kWh a yearand it definitely helps

I’ve just had a chat with my energy supplier and increased DD from £71 to £90 and not the £105 they wanted.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013
