Thanks MF and Jwil
Decided not to tidy - yet at least! I have done a load of washing and it's now in the drier. I have taken the dog chasing squirrels while Ex is out with DD. I got a good walk too trying to just keep up with her. It was too cold to sit much but we were out about 50 minutes. The dog is asleep sharing my chair with her head on my laptop table!
In MSE news I have returned 3 boxes of stuff to Am**** so at some point I will get £63 back - roughly £23 on a giftcard and the other £40 into my bank. I tried to update my Mr A order for Wednesday and got completely carried away wanting to buy everything I fancied eating... Will aim to reduce it another day - but I doubt if I will be eating out in the next month so worst case I'll redirect that money to the grocery bill.
I went in the kitchen and found DD had left the freezer door open. I was very unhappy as all my food had started to defrost including my xmas food.
When Ex turned up he gave me some letters that had been redirected to him in error. Not great but with it being xmas don't want to make a fuss with RM but if it keeps happening I will have to.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good to get out with the dog. It's so easy this time of year to hunker down and go into semi hibernation. Have some Christmas food treats from the eating out budget - it's important to make happy memories this first new you Christmas.5

Hi Savingholmes, I've moved a couple of times in the past five years or so and each time the RM re-direction form I filled in said that it would re-direct all mail with the same surname, so I put my name and we received mail for all the family. I recently renewed it and didn't see that same comment on the form, (I hope it hasn't changed for DH's sake as he still has one thing outstanding) but I thought I would mention it to you just in case.

Thanks Beanie and Blackcats. Good point about happy memories. I have to fight a desire to hibernate.
I now have a xmas light projector and a shooting star out the front - getting there. I've got the (pre-lit) xmas tree down safely - I now need to plug it in and decorate it. I need to decide what to do with all the remaining downstairs clutter in the kitchen and lounge and either hide it in my storage or put in the spare bedroom or garage. I got some stuff out to sell a couple of weeks ago but it either hasn't sold yet or worse I've not listed it yet so it is just taking up space and looking messy!
Been in a weird mood since Ex left with the dog. Ex returned 2 keys so hopefully I have them all now. He frittered last month's wages and barely saved any despite having no bills or even food spend requirement at his mum's. Bemuses me. Not my problem. His legal bill was really low too as he sacked his solicitor - whereas I've had legal fees to contend with too. Made me feel better about my financial progress - as although I've temporarily added to the CC debt - that's pretty much offset by the mortgage and pension improvements - so my net worth has risen in the same period despite the fact I have all the bills to pay and am still partially supporting DD in practice.
Listening to a book on Integrity - about being true to yourself rather than meeting others expectations. It reminded me of the song - Beneath your beautiful - but me as the one wanting to see beneath my own mask and discover who I truly am. Definitely a journey.
DS rang me which gave me a lift. He's made presents for people for xmas and put a lot of effort in. Bless him. He's said he'll help me get the TV bracket off the wall when he's home and help me sort out the sit/stand desk. He's asked me to buy him another book so he has more to unwrap rather than mainly money. He would be interested in the paints I got from my neighbour so I am just going to wrap them for him. One of the things I love about him is he's not proud - he's happy to have pre-loved items. He's a good artist - just struggles with perfectionism. No idea where that comes fromDS is really looking forward to seeing us all for xmas - I'm excited to see him too. My sis has asked him to be packed ready to go by the end of tomorrow just in case there's a last minute announcement. That's my biggest concern... Xmas is tantalisingly within reach but it feels like it could be snatched away...

He really isn't your concern now. My ex did the same, seems to go hand in hand with the 'no responsibilities' position they find themselves in.
The book sounds good and one I'd be interested in hearing too.
DS has a wise head on his shoulders and finding his natural footing. It's not about being proud, it's being appreciative of receiving something he can make use of.
Cook and refreeze the food if needs be. Adjust the bottom two front feet on the freezer, that way the door swings back as the freezer is at an angle. It's a PITA, but reduces your worry of it happening again.

You were juggling all the plates before. That was a lot on your shoulders. Now you only need to think about juggling your own plates. Way less for you to worry about.

Plan two Christmases a normal and alternative, it will help you control the situation best as you can.- I have to keep repeating like a mantra - not my problem anymore. I predicted it though - yet still find it shocking.
- Sent you a PM on the name of the book.
- DS is lovely.
- I just shut the FF door and pretended I hadn't seen it.
- I have planned for both - and that's why we've all agreed that Sis will come early if need be to make sure she and DS escape the big smoke.

I think in the run up to Xmas we are all juggling so many plates. It will be a relief when I get past Xmas Day and that pressure stops and I can just chill then until the 4th. Should see DS from the 23/12 excited about that.
