Good news about the energy bills, and well done on the CC payment.

  • Great news on the energy payment - hopefully will turn out to be the right amount with the reduced use due to fewer people in the house, you'll be able to tweak it later if needed anyway won't you!

Fingers crossed for the painting sale - and I agree with reinvesting at least a proportion of any sales you make either directly to new materials, or to a fund set aside to purchase when needed.

On the painting - I offered a discount a few hours ago but they haven't read the message yet.

Thanks Orangetoes - I have finished until the 4th. Relieved about that.

I found out today that a cousin sounds like she's losing her cancer battle which was upsetting. She's only a year older than me (so really young obviously). Has younger kids than mine too. I can't process it... or maybe I just don't want to... Time of year makes it harder to bear - but I haven't seen her for a few years... We email occasionally... She lives quite a distance away so not really an option to 'pop' round... Sad.

Cooked tea for me and DD as she's struggling after her booster at the weekend... She's worried she won't be well for Xmas but seems a bit brighter now she's eaten and had some ibuprofen.

Had a lovely time seeing my friend.  I shared some  family drama (over and above what's on here) and she was suitably shocked on my behalf which was strangely satisfying. Grateful I got to see her. She also bought me lovely art supplies (not opened yet but obvious shapes LOL).

My private pension has dipped in recent days - so decided to pop in £100 rather than the £50 I'd planned on the basis the stuff is on sale and will buy more...  So with the tax relief that's worth £125. A contribution towards mortgage neutrality. Not sure how best to track it in my signature given the volatility... I've taken the extra £50 from my hobbies budget - as if we do end up in lockdown or close to it I will save £ so it should work out regardless.

Part of my third refund has hit my gift card balance - a further £8 is still due to arrive back on my account. Still doing well despite planned extra spends on food. As someone else said - with inflation - I'm investing in my stores and as long as the food isn't wasted it will probably save me £... I have weekly food deliveries booked from tomorrow onwards - which I possibly don't need but in the circumstances thought would be wise. I can always 'skip' one or share with DD or a neighbour.

Hope your festive plans are coming together...

  • That's so sad about your cousin - it's a horrible thing isn't it.

There IS something satisfying about sharing drama with someone and them being shocked/outraged on your behalf - I'm with you!
