Good news about the energy bills, and well done on the CC payment."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

Great news on the energy payment - hopefully will turn out to be the right amount with the reduced use due to fewer people in the house, you'll be able to tweak it later if needed anyway won't you!
Fingers crossed for the painting sale - and I agree with reinvesting at least a proportion of any sales you make either directly to new materials, or to a fund set aside to purchase when needed.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Jwil and EH
She's not come back yet. Tantalisingly close to a first sale. I considered offering a discount but don't think that money is the issue. I think I must be a pain to get to for her. May relent tonight if I don't hear anything before.
Friend coming over later for a catch up. We have both had negative LFTs. She offered to meet out somewhere and I was like nooooo not risking that. I finish work tonight. Can't wait.

On the painting - I offered a discount a few hours ago but they haven't read the message yet.
Thanks Orangetoes - I have finished until the 4th. Relieved about that.
I found out today that a cousin sounds like she's losing her cancer battle which was upsetting. She's only a year older than me (so really young obviously). Has younger kids than mine too. I can't process it... or maybe I just don't want to... Time of year makes it harder to bear - but I haven't seen her for a few years... We email occasionally... She lives quite a distance away so not really an option to 'pop' round... Sad.
Cooked tea for me and DD as she's struggling after her booster at the weekend... She's worried she won't be well for Xmas but seems a bit brighter now she's eaten and had some ibuprofen.
Had a lovely time seeing my friend. I shared some family drama (over and above what's on here) and she was suitably shocked on my behalf which was strangely satisfying. Grateful I got to see her. She also bought me lovely art supplies (not opened yet but obvious shapes LOL).
My private pension has dipped in recent days - so decided to pop in £100 rather than the £50 I'd planned on the basis the stuff is on sale and will buy more... So with the tax relief that's worth £125. A contribution towards mortgage neutrality. Not sure how best to track it in my signature given the volatility... I've taken the extra £50 from my hobbies budget - as if we do end up in lockdown or close to it I will save £ so it should work out regardless.
Part of my third refund has hit my gift card balance - a further £8 is still due to arrive back on my account. Still doing well despite planned extra spends on food. As someone else said - with inflation - I'm investing in my stores and as long as the food isn't wasted it will probably save me £... I have weekly food deliveries booked from tomorrow onwards - which I possibly don't need but in the circumstances thought would be wise. I can always 'skip' one or share with DD or a neighbour.
Hope your festive plans are coming together...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry to hear about your cousin, such a shame.

That's so sad about your cousin - it's a horrible thing isn't it.

I reread my diary in the last 24 hours and want to apologise to the people whose posts I seem to have missed.
I think there was one from @Scottie_Dog_3 @Onestepatatime and others - and I appear to have missed most of the posts on page 32! I think sometimes I'm part way through composing a message - take a few hours of coming back to it before posting and then miss any others.
@StripeyTightsSpottySocks - I've sent you a pm with the name of the book.
@skint_spice still hoping for art sales soon - thanks for your good wishes
@badmemory I think you are right to be cautious - my bill was due to go up by a third with the previous provider - but during this whole period DS and Ex moved out and DD isn't home as much as she used to be - so hoping it will work out in my favour. I was previously paying £123 - but put £160 in for my regular budget... Hoping it is closer to the £123 though.
@leftatthetrafficlights £50 extra on the bill is a lot! Hope it does get sorted for you this month.
It turns out 3 more letters went to Ex including the passcodes for my banking app that I was waiting for. Luckily for me he is an honest person and hadn't opened them - and just dropped them off this morning. I've made a formal complaint to RM and asked for compensation. Will see what happens. At least I have got my banking sorted now.
On the BB - I rang up to check where my router was as it should have arrived last Friday - only to find that they hadn't sent it oout at all. Seriously unimpressed with Sh3lll who are of course my new energy provider too! At least I should get most of the bill refunded - and therefore have a low bill next month. DD has 150GB allowance on her phone - don't know re DS. She I think is connecting to our old internet service some how. I'm connecting via a second device - so have some internet - but the router shouldn't need the second device apparently so there's a definite fault - it's also much slower than it should be. He thinks the router may not arrive until next week some time. I asked about compensation again - but they don't seem to offer anything more than a refund of the daily rate...
