Thanks jwil. Carried on listening to my new book. It's very thought provoking. It suggests every time we do things for others approval - that's socialisation and an area where we are potentially out of integrity... I think I have a lot of 'conditioning' to expose and undo - before I work out and accept as valid how I really want to behave / think / act in life and before I understand my true purpose / identity. Good job I have a lifetime to do it in....jwil said:Glad all is settling down and you've got some decorations up. Enjoy some festive treats!
I'm working my way through 'the voices' in my head - Ex, MIL, my parents, other family etc... and listening to them long enough to review whether they align with my values or are just 'received wisdom' that is open to challenge. It's going to be an interesting journey.
In MSE news Am**** has refunded 2 out of 3 parcels already. The third is only being sent off today. So I'm going to order the books DS has asked for out of that - and will then use the third refund for some batteries.
Someone just enquired after one of my paintings.... Watch this space. It's up for £80 as it's slightly smaller than the other.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

For some reason I am wide awake. Think I ate too late and left heating on too long. Also watched a crime drama that's playing on my mind.
I was very disappointed when DD informed me at 5.30pm it was Sunday. I'd lost track of the days and believed it was Saturday!
I decorated the Xmas tree today. Does anyone else have a million lights but missing transformers? I also have a missing net light set that normally goes in the front window.
I found some seeds to wrap for DS for Xmas as well as lots of craft stuff. Feel happier that he will have more in his stocking now.
I was planning to buy batteries but have found some. Also found a battery charger. Progress. There's so much left to do in decluttering my house...
May try listing a SAD lamp. It always hurt my eyes when I tried it. Also want to list some scales. Might just take a punt on a few more garage items and see what goes.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think one of the reasons for the potential for more restrictions is that so many people either aren't taking the right precautions, or are doing things like testing wrong. I've seen countless people saying that they've done LFT's because they had some cold symptoms, or that they "don't usually test, but will be before seeing family at Christmas" but both of those things are pointless - by the time you get symptoms it's a PCR you need as chances are the viral load will be too low for an LFT to pick up then, and a test on Christmas eve morning before travelling to family will only work if a) you then test again once there, and regularly while there, and b) if you've also tested 2 days prior to that pre-travel test too. Otherwise you could be asymptomatic and again, the viral load having dropped the LFT won't show it, but you could still be infectious! This whole situation really annoys me because yet again it will be the few of us who ARE doing things right who get penalised because other idiots refuse to do so, or can't be bothered to learn what they ought to be doing. It makes me fume, I'm afraid. I KNEW when I had that rotten cold the other week that it wasn't Covid because I'd been doing routine LFTs as we have been throughout, since they were first made available. Otherwise I'd have been ordering a PCR and not going anywhere!
Good work on the continued decluttering meaning you're finding both useful and sellable stuff - definitely get shot of a SAD lamp that hurts your eyes, that would be enough to make anyone sad!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The government haven't helped themselves with that though - the guidance to get a PCR test are still the original three symptoms - high temp, cough and loss of taste or smell - cold symptoms have not been added. I agree, a negative LFT doesn't mean that you won't test positive a day or two later though, it just means at that time you don't have enough virus to be detected.
LFT are there to detect asymptomatic cases - that's the reason we are encouraged to use them. If someone has symptoms, they should get a PCR, not rely on LFT, but if they don't have symptoms, they should use a LFT before mixing.
LFT are 80% or more accurate for detecting positive cases so they are still a valuable tool and people should be taking them before visiting others. It doesn't matter if they haven't taken a test previously, it gives you a result for that moment in time. If someone has a positive LFT, they should then get a confirmatory PCR within 2 days.
LFT will give an indication of whether someone is likely to be infectious - you need a certain amount of virus to test positive on one. PCR will detect much lower levels of virus so are more accurate, but they won't tell you whether you are currently infectious - you can test positive for weeks after an infection."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
