We’ve seen a tiny fall in diesel prices round here this week - just a couple of pence - but petrol seems to be holding steady at the moment. A cut in duty is the obvious way of helping but the problem is the garages just add it back on again over the following few weeks - not always their fault, I know, it comes down to the price they are charged by their suppliers, where they are franchises.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Petrol in Dublin went up as far as 224 in some places or about 192 per litre in sterling.
If you are colour oriented there are various aids that will change colour when the item has cooled down enough. I find it's easier if I use something positive to counteract something I have difficulty with.4 -

Thanks jwil, @Drawingaline and @merlinsbeard @Mickyh-s EH and @WelshmansDaughter
I will try and get it through to my brain that such spends are okay... The coffee m/c has arrived but I haven't set it up yet. Jug will follow in a few days. My coffee pods came too. Debating whether to pay for it out of an existing budget category or whether to have it as an extra. My relative's present arrived so I need to wrap that for him. Big family do tomorrow that I really don't want to go to.
Round where I live fuel is rising rapidly. I will try and fill up when I drop DD and her friend off clubbing...
Weather has been glorious here yesterday and today - but too hot for me so pretty much stayed inside.
I checked my credit club report - and I am back to 999 now I've repaid my CCs so really happy with that. The difference is now showing on the balances section. I'm also on track with my mortgage capital repayment estimates. They take them on a different day and are about a month behind but I think my estimates are about right if not conservative. So grateful I got a fixed rate. Thinking of applying for a new CC to get points on fuel purchases - I could get paid via £co if the offer is still there. Will check out the MSE guide on that and energy and see if I need to do anything else while I'm at it.
Having commented on @Greent diary - I have made myself some B'scotch angel delight and I'm having that with strawberries as a late tea. Not very SW but hopefully will be okay.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oooh I've got chocolate angel delight in the cupboard, I might make some up! I've got loads of fruit I can have it with.
Through your work do you have any staff benefits where you can buy discounted gift cards? It used to be that you could buy a gift card for a discount and then use it for fuel at a supermarket. I'd check that gift cards can still be used for fuel, but it might be a way of getting a small saving."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
